Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

I love how Craig Kettleman genuinely seems to be on Team Saul, if not for his wife constantly overruling him.
fingers crossed
"he stole..." she interrupts before he can say "the money I embezzled."
the guy playing him does such a great job of making Craig's pain of being stuck with that crazy lady clear yet realistic. His eyes are just so spot on it's uncanny yet hilarious

I love how they just gloss over the fact that the Kettlemen's are the most clueless criminals this side of the Mississippi.
Lest we forget about Daniel Wormald. Speaking of which, I hope there a Part 2 to this where he complains about Saul making him sit in a pie to fool the cops.

I totally would watch a miniseries of true crime documentaries of all the characters. I would love to see one for Walt, Mike, Hank, Jesse, and even Gus

This was a joke but it actually is amazing. I really never had it put into perspective of how destructive Saul and Walt's empires were, even though Saul was kind of a middle man in a lot of cases. It reminds me of when Huell was talking to his buddy about possibly taking money and leaving from Walt's pile, and the guy said dude are you kidding me he killed 10 people across different prisons in ABQ in 2 minutes. They never heard about any of the other parts of him like we did.

Once BCS ends I truly hope they make a 1-2hr "documentary" like this, going over the events of BCS up to the very end of Breaking Bad and what happens to Gene
That would be SO BADASS!
Yessss
This is definitely canon. They said is early 2010. Ozymandias takes place on march, and then there is a time skip of 6 months to september 2010 where felina takes place. Also at this point nobody knows where walter, jesse and saul are. Plus they talk about hank and steve being missing for months. So yes this docummentary takes place before felina or maybe after.
After Felina because DA Suzanne said that Hank and Gomey were later confirmed dead. Walter gave Skyler a location of their burial site in Felina.

This kind of fiction documentary is exactly what I want to see for a whole list of shows and book series I follow.
Presented as is real, cheap/generic-looking stock footage in place of actual clips from the episodes. All around perfect.
More please.
The world building is incredible from these series / shows / films
The dramatized scenes of vague blurry actors portraying Jimmy and Kim were so perfect
5:17 The narrator really hits the nail on the head with their description of Chuck as a highly esteemed man whose honesty was second to none here. A very sincere, honest man who sought the pursuit of justice and most definitely did not abuse his companies resources to fanatically pursue personal vendettas against the only family he had. If Chuck had a bone to pick with someone who was working tirelessly to keep a roof over his head and was falling behind on his bills as a result, he told them directly. He would never deliberately set them up for failure behind their back like a snake.
Jimmy set himself up for failure. He had everything he ever wanted at Davis and Maine and he threw it all away. Chuck just tried to prevent the inevitable, Jimmy was always gonna be Slippin.

@@donjohnson2003 see this whole time I thought Jimmy would give those diamonds to mikes granddaughter but now I think you could be right about Jeff stealing them
The $5 million bounty wasn’t canon according to Thomas Schnauz. That was just a promo thing that the marketing team made. The show directors didn’t see it until it went up online.
One final breaking bad episode that gives us a update on all the characters briefly in a cinematic way can be a rather good idea if done correctly.

Gus, Mike, Todd, Jack's gang, and Hank are all dead as of the end of Breaking Bad, and Skyler, the kids, and Gretchen and Elliot are more or less accounted for in the finale. There is nobody left to make an episide about
Jimmy is the only guy that hasn't been accounted for and he already has his own show for that
I think the only person that could possibly need an update is Walt Jr. They don't really show how he's doing besides the scene where he tells Walt he hates him.
The way seasson 6 is getting promotion is insane.
ironically Jimmy could talk his way out of this one, he just decided not to
07:15 sums it up pretty well. Had Saul not always looked for shortcuts he probably would've been an excellent and successful lawyer.
That's a big simplification
@@qwerty975 Nah it really is that simple. If Jimmy had not been lazy about it and built himself up legitimately through hard work he'd be living a happy life. Instead he always looked for shortcuts
@@smellypatel5272you know, Jimmy isn't a bad guy, sure from our perspective he always cheats and seeks opportunities, but remember that in Season 1 he's barely making ends meet and has to look after his sick brother. He's in mid 40s and has achieved nothing in his career as a lawyer, just playing by the "rules" and living at the back of the spa salon. His brother Chuck messed up him a lot too, first he wants to please him, then despises him, comes back, and before death Chuck says "whatever, I don't care". In season 4 he's emotionally shutting down himself, but later on we're shown that he's suffering despite his facade of "I dont care that Chuck's gone". In "JMM" he goes on a rant against Howard and before that he's an emotional breakdown because a girl with a criminal record didn't get a scholarship. But what's cool he owned everything in the end. All I am trying to say is, life's a lot more complex than just surface level "Slippin Jimmy always like this", and I think the show did a great job at showcasing that. Peace.
The show made it pretty clear that Jimmy was one of the most hardworking people in the county courthouse, yet he is stuck going nowhere. HHM takes any large break he can get, which Chuck does out of spite. He felt trapped
This is really cool for so many reasons. This is formatted exactly like the crime documentaries I used to watch with my grandfather when I was younger. It shows the perspective the world has on the events of the two shows. Plus, I don't know why, but it's just plain awesome to me the idea of an informative documentary based on fictional worlds. I'll fall asleep during normal documentaries, but fictional documentaries are weirdly a lot more gripping which defeats the purpose of documentaries being educational, but it's a lot more entertaining.
The guy who plays Oakley is vastly underrated. He becomes that character, and you never see the acting. On another note, we need a Kettleman spinoff. They are absolute gold.
I love this show so much this must be how people in the 2000s felt about sopranos last season
Yes my grandma was crazy for that show
This video hits on a different level after the finale, this was a big clue all along
I like to think that in the breaking bad universe there would definitely be a Netflix mini documentary series about the events of the show. I pray that Vince makes it down the line with all the side characters. I'd love to see how Walt's students and colleagues react to everything
these whole 10 minutes are brilliant. the heads behind breaking bad and bcs are masters at writing and presenting plots.
Hiesenberg didn't just change Saul Goodman's life, he changed the entire indusrtry forever
This should be longer after the last season of BCS. A public view of what happened (distorted as usual) while the viewer knows different. Throw in Fring, Mike, Pickman, Skylar, Flynn, someone from Madrigal, the DEA, the complex interlockings between all the 'cartels' (Mexican, US, European), the labs, the BB ending and stuff from El Camino. This would be sooo cool.
I would like to see a documentary or news montage of the mysterious fall of the Salamanca/Don Eladio cartel but with the Mexican perspective especially since at the BB timeline the government declared war to all cartels and maybe they would have take responsibility for the dead of Eladio and all the Salamancas without knowing who really killed those men
Seeing the Kettlemans re-writing history really got on my nerves... Which means their characters are still as well written as in the previous seasons.
It actually fits in with "documentaries". I can't tell you how many of them re-write history. Almost as bad as movies.

I’d love have to seen how they might have approached this if they did it after the finale. There’s more info they could have added that would have been spoilers at the time that they released this.
What's really interesting to me here is that the documentary makers seem to have had multiple photos of cartel members in Mexico, considering how accurate their Hector and Eladio comic was and the actual picture of Lalo they show
Was there some sort of snitch who leaked extensive info on the cartel's workings after it was taken down?
They're going all in on the BCS to BB links. Feels bad rooting so hard for Jimmy to know how it ends up for him.
