I had removed logic board from an old beat up iphone 6 plus housing assembly with a cracked front assembly. Put all together with new front assembly but the home button was different color so i used heat gun to remove the sensor strip with ribbon from the home button and stuck it on the one with the same color as the new housing and voilà same color and sensor works. Only on the iphone 6 plus.

So I’ve had this home button replacement on my iPhone 8 but now my fingerprint reader isn’t working anymore. Also, my new home button is just too sensitive as in… if i just hover my finger arnd the home button it presses the button.

So I have a iPhone 8 that one of my friend gave me but it is rose gold with a white face and home button. I don’t like it and want to do a switch over to black. Meaning that the home button will have to be replaced as well. ReadinSg the description for a new one. It has a disclaimer stating this replacement is for decoration only and it won’t function on my 8. Am I reading this wrong or is this true? If so is there any other way around it. Please if any one has some solutions to my problem. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to use a eeprom reader to get touch id to work with the new homebutton...google qianli icopy plus v2.1 or look up on youtube how to do it

Yes, Touch-ID works only with the original button that was installed at the factory on your iphone 8. In the description under the video, you will find a link to the button which gives the function to press and back to the main screen.

My home button is sensitive and Touch ID still works but not as well. Can I fix it?
You can replace the original button with another, but this will not give the working function of the Touch ID, replacing it with a universal button - it will only work as a return to the main screen

I replaced a broken display with a replacement and home button did not work. I then put the original screen back on and now the home button gets searing hot within seconds . Anyone have ideas what happened ? 🤷🏻♂️

Question - I replaced my charging port and microphone and everything went well but now my fingerprint reader is not working. If I enter my settings and try to capture/record my fingerprint, the phone makes no attempt to capture the print. There are no errors but nothing happens. Any thoughts? There’s nothing wrong with the replacement it’s just the fingerprint always does that stuff
nothing wrong with it, apple does not let you replace the touch ID so if you have it replaced it will not work

No, the Touch ID function will work only with the original button. This video is useful for people who change motherboard with a button.

You'll have to make an appointment with the Apple Store, or if you're fine without TouchID, a local repair shop can install a regular home button that you can click on.

No!
Can it be replaced at all and still function? Because the iPhone 7 doesn’t allow you to replace it.
You can replace it with a third party home button, you have to solder it to a replacement charging port so you will have to replace that too, Art of Repair youtube channel has a video detailing how they will soon not have to solder, you won't retain touchID, it will act like a regular home button that clicks so it will bring back the go to homescreen function
