    Okay so looking at the comments below a lot of people are confused about how to make this thing Also so I am as well because in your video description it says 10 uf 25v but in the video it says 100 V when zoomed in and closely looking at it maybe you should of given a updated schematics maybe describe how it works
    Or make a new video that is more updated

      Hi, the circuit diagram I shared is correct.
      This meter works at 9V, so capacitors with 25V tolerance are more than enough, the important thing is that they are of the value in uF that I have specified (for example 100uF for what you are referring to).
      I'm going to explain myself better with an example:
      You have two capacitors A and B
      A = 100uF @ 25V
      B = 100uF @ 100V
      The capacitors are identical, have the same capacity (100uF) but "A" can only be installed on circuits that work up to 25V, while "B" can be used on circuits that work up to 100V
      I used the 100V ones because I didn't have any more from 25V :)
      otherwise it is indifferent, even 50V ones are fine, as long as the capacitance values in uF are respected

      @@Stefano91ste I just finished building one! it works, but it would be nice to know how to adjust the two trim pots, I have no idea what to do with them. I thought the 47kohm one would adjust LED brightness but I notice zero difference when I adjust it. Does the 10kohm adjust input gain? I also haven't been able to notice much difference changing it and don't know where to leave it as a default. Thank you for sharing this cool project!

    Hi! I just built your circuit on a breadboard and it works flawless!....but only after I replaced the slightly used 9V battery with a brand new one. It seems, the right voltage is very important and if your circuit is not working well, it might be because of an old battery... BTW: I got a very strong signal about 80cm(!) away from the door of my fridge. I built another similar circuit using just eight 2N2222 transistors and the same antenna and almost no reaction from the fridge door but more reactions from other electronic devices... very interesting! BTW2: Instead of an router antenna I just used a 1mm thick copper wire coil with 12 turns and a few centimeters of straight wire and it works fine! Many thanks and keep up the good work! Cheers!

    Hey bro. Great video.
    I had two questions
    1: Which type of antenna have you used? If i were to describe it to the shopkeeper, there should some number or specification of the antenna.
    2: Upto what distance from the cables can it detect emf, if the cables were to be laid underground?

    • @Stefano91ste
      @Stefano91ste  5 лет назад

      Hi, thank you!
      1) I used a recycled antenna from a router.
      2) Up to 3/4 cm of depth it works, but it also depends on how many EMF it emits the cable you want to detect.

    • @CoolGear12
      @CoolGear12 5 лет назад

      It won't work if you're trying to detect high voltage underground cables. Because those cable are designed to retard and redirect emf to avoid inducing unwanted voltages into any adjacent conductive materials .

      I had to modify few parts in the circuit:
      I used NON-variable resistors everywhere.
      I used 2uF cap instead of 4.7uF. Also I used ALL LEDs as the RED LEDs. I used 3915 chip as LED driver.

    Thanks for publishing your work! I'm trying to understand the circuit though and I'm a little confused by the 10nF capacitor. Wouldn't this capacitor filter almost any frequency above 160KHz? At 160KHz the capacitive reactance is at 100Ohms. And the RC filter that follows only filters everything under 15Hz right? So what's the point?
    The potentiometer after the antenna is a high pass filter right? So it can filter out very low frequencies, is that it?
    Many thanks for your help!

    Hi, I built this circuit exactly as in the video, used 50k log pot instead of 47k, and WiFi 10 dB 20 cm antenna. Double-checked the circuit, unfortunatelly, LEDs don't light up even when the antenna is laid on the power cable of my soldering iron turned on. Since the antenna connects to RP - SMA female connector, I initially connected the antenna wire to the middle pin of the connector, as well as the outer thread and in both cases none of the 5 LEDs light up. They only briefly light up when I turn the power switch on. Also tried fine tuning the 10k trimmer, and couldn't find a sweet spot. I also later noticed in the video, where you showed the pcb top and bottom, by identifying some of resistor color bands, 2 identical ones on the top that turned out to be 2.1k (not 2.2k), and on the bottom side the cap that goes to the antenna says .22, i.e. 220nF if I'm correct. Should I make this changes in order for this circuit to work?

    • @Stefano91ste
      @Stefano91ste  5 лет назад +2

      Hi, the circuit works correctly following the diagram, the small changes that are known on the pcb are due to the fact that I had finished some components, but they are irrelevant.
      From how you describe the malfunction of your circuit it would seem that LM386 does not amplify enough..

    I made this circuit and the LM386 is getting real hot. Your list of components says 2x2.2k resistors which are Red,red,red. But the one you made they look like they are Red,violet,red which would be a 2.7k. Is this a mistake?

    • @Stefano91ste
      @Stefano91ste  3 года назад +1

      Hi, no errors with the resistors, the 2.7K (or 2.2K both are fine) these resistors only work on the LM3914.
      The LM386 must not get too hot, try to check all the components connected to the LM386, I think there is something wrong that makes it always work at 100%
