In today's world sequels have the various elements from the first movie from the previous stage of knowledge. It does look like the 90s to you but the world has changed a lot kicking it old school just like old times.
I remember being with a friend and two girls he knew from high school. We were planning to head out to the beach the next day. As soon as we made the plans, a few seconds went by and I asked, "Slurpee?" and one of the girls went, "Dude!"...my friend and the other girl didn't know the reference lol
