Hey guys! Hope you're doing well. I'm gonna be uploading some abroad eduction related content like application reviews, interviewing people who got into some great universities abroad, reviewing applications and also some videos about how to crack particular sections of standardized tests. Is that something you guys will be interested in watching?
Bruv let me tell you it's not the end of the world even though it may feel like it. I too had applied to 15+ colleges and got rejected by every single one of them. The worst part is I took a drop year and applied again only to get no different results. I want you to know that a rejection (or an acceptance as a matter of fact) in no way defines you, you are way more than that. This took me a bit late to realize and due to these rejections I believe I got into quite the depression which to date I'm trying to overcome. When you've spent every minute of 2-3 years of your life working towards a goal that in the end, you couldn't achieve (and without proper reasoning), you feel so devastated. It doesn't hit you immediately cause it's not a physical thing, that you can touch or feel. It comes to you slowly and makes you miserable (well at least in my case lol.) But remember this is the first rejection of your life, and that it won't be the last. Throughout high school, we're made to believe that we can achieve whatever we want in life (and that is absolutely true), but they forget to mention that there will be times when we can't. We have to know that it is part of the process to success. So, more power to you for applying to US unis when kids are stuck in the rat race to prestigious Indian colleges. Very few know how demanding and how difficult the whole process is. Good luck with your future endeavors! Know that there are colleges that'll absolutely love to have you and you can achieve every single thing in life that you would've had you gone to any prestigious US school.
the indians who get into ivy leagues for undergraduate most probably have an international olympiad medal at least, have top ranks on kvpy, jee exams etc then for grad school, it will be those who are either rich or those who finished their undergrads from iits, nits etc
I’m so proud of you! Very few people can hold their head up high even in the face of such rejection. You are truly an extraordinary individual. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Dude, more power to you !! I think you did what most of the folks out there can't even imagine doing. After facing all the rejections you maintained your composure as well. Hats off! I'm a prospective master's student, and I'm planning for fall 2023, let's see what happens. Stay strong ✌✌
Thank you for posting this video Omkar. The US university entrance chances are crazy, so do not get discouraged. I believe that you will do good anywhere you decide to go whether in India or in the US in the future. Best of luck to you.
Hi bro, keep your head up. I’m sure your application was great, but the way the American system works is brutal. It is harder to get accepted as an international student applying for financial aid. So a 100% financial aid request was most likely what made them turn you down. Don’t let these rejections define your worth, it’s more of the system at this point
Not only that but as an international student, especially from India, the standards are even higher regardless of the fact AA has gone away. Applying as an international student from India or China is extremely competitive with so many people scoring over 1500.
Can't blame highschools for the decisions you take. Only if you had a plan to move to the US after your 12th, you should've graduated from a highschool that had the resources to place students abroad. When with a score of 1380 you expect to get into Ivy League colleges wanting scores ranging from 1480-1580, I can't understand why wouldn't you think for your back up and regret later. Didn't mean to be offensive in anyway mate. Regardless very informative video. Thanks for making many Indian and International students aware how difficult it is to get 100% financial aid in the States. Keep hustling. Be positive. Hope you have a great year ahead!
at least he had the nerve to apply his sat score is above average anyway bcoz he applied for 100% financial aid they turned him down maybe or maybe bcoz of not going into an accredited school its extremely important to go into an accredited school i guess he went to a goverment schhool bcoz most of the private catholic schools usually have a web page btw school in india that gives students chance for abroad are very very low and those schools are extremely expensive just 1 year itself will be above 50 lakhs/5 million indian rupees
@@ammericanochuachuaaa Unfortunately, his SAT scores are not above average at all. For each of the universities he applied to, its below the 25th percentile. Anyone with a score below 1450 goes test optional to those institutions.
Well frankly as an international student , even a 1600 SAT score doesn't guarantee ivy league if you're applying for 100% aid . You do stand a chance if you have excellent extracurricular achievements
i agree , a sat in this range is like sabotaging your own chances . And on top of it killer extracurriculars are vital , and he can’t just expect to get in with like a below average score these colleges follow a very holistic process perhaps all applicants that do end up getting aid have run and worked their asses off working pillar to post . and he wasted his ed2 on pomona it’s like way too competitive- having nerves is silly because applying harvard and Yale is silly and a waste of time when you know your chances , i mean man coudve just scrolled a profile on Linkein ! and what does the school even have to do - you have your class X board result to back shit and at the end of day you can tell teaches about LOR and filling common app , if you have the potential - you get in !
The schools in US are ultimately private. Applying for 100% need would anyways have reduced your chances of getting in. Also you should have applied test optional 1380 in SAT is not satisfactory for the top schools.
Man I know my comment will probably not make it any easier for you, but please just know that you are not alone! I've been there too and currently doing it all over again. What I've learned from all of this is that fin aid is what makes is so unbearable, not that there is something "wrong" with you or your application. The fact that you had figured out the process on your own, didn't have any examples of success in such things in your close community but still pushed through it is what matters. People go crazy about top schools because of the people they meet there, however, look, you have just connected with hundreds of not any less smart than ivy bros kids! You will be successful in whatever you choose to do
I know I'm commenting sort of late but I want to let you know that it isn't the end. Keep grinding and you will end up somewhere. Many international applicants aren't aware of how competitive admissions are in the U.S. and the fact that you are an international student just makes it exponentially harder. In hindsight, you should have definitely applied to lower tier schools considering your stats and your request for 100% financial aid but now you know. The university you go to for undergrad really does not matter that much as you should focus on working hard and getting good grades in that university to eventually transfer to a top tier school for your masters degree if you choose to pursue one. Keep your head up, keep working hard, and you will find success.
It takes strong guts to upload rejection video but you really have those. You are really strong man and an inspiration for many. All the best for your future. ✌️🔥💫🙌👍😇
Omkar, I am extremely impressed at your courage, confidence and composure throughout the whole process. Don't worry about these rejection letters, you have something which no college can offer you- Belief in yourself. You set high goals for yourself, and approach them with a positive and optimistic attitude. You are not afraid of challenges, and despite not having the best of resources around you, you put in your best and hope for the best. Trust me, this is what life takes. As someone who daily struggles to believe in herself, your personality leaves a huge impression on me. I wish I had half the confidence you do. So what if you didn't get into these colleges? This positive and hard working nature of yours will take you very far in life. All the best, and my best wishes to souls like you
That was the best thing I read this week. You are a very positive person. I think people would be really lucky to have you around because of your positivity and also you'd be a fool to think of yourself as a less confident person. I think the thing you are looking for is an opportunity to know that you're worth something but believe me the quality you're looking for is already in you. All the best! P.s: I actually laughed very hard after getting rejected from the last college which was Stanford. And I also think we should follow each other on instagram ( I know I shouldn't be saying this in comments haha)
Wait a second, you applied ED 2 to both pomona and colgate? Their RD decisions come out in march, and you got them in feb, if you did ED 2 to two colleges, it is highly unethical and you could've gotten into a lot of trouble
@@nishkalhundia7133I didn't get what r u guys talking abt... Can u suggest me a video to get a good knowledge on these terms and how to apply college in foreign.
Honestly I felt motivated when you still applied for Ivys despite of the highschool catastrophe you had because I too was rejected by DU, JNU and also BHU this year despite scoring good but I'm still going for SAT. I didn't take a gap year tho but I really want to go to the top colleges ( at least for my masters or maybe PhD too). It really sucks to be a 'better than average' but still not getting into your dream college.
better than average in your country might not necessarily be that in the USA, unless you are US citizen. Thats the sad truth. It frustrates and disappoints me too.
I got really disappointed too, but ended up going to a college that changed my life. And to be fair, for international students, SAT score isn't everything, but Ivy generally look for 1500+. If not a score like that, should have strong justification in the rest of your applications why it wasn't so. Keep pushing man, college is just a tool, ultimately all the power is in your hands
Hey man still chilled out and stay top always I'm glad you changed your hairstyle man Hopefully you're making the best out of these 4 years, start up or summat do something crazy, you're a solid guy now toughened after rejections, you can face anything. And screw high schools they suck :p
All the best for your future endeavours! Thank you for posting this video, as we only get to see acceptance videos which do not show the complete reality of admissions to these ultra-selective universities...
A bit of rant or my experience overall while applying to US colleges: Hey Omkar, it seriously takes balls to accept the rejections like that.. I'm Kumar and just like you I applied to 16 US Uni just to get rejected lol... So I'm a native of Bihar, and I completed my HS from a small private school that nobody has ever heard of..lol.. I needed fin aid so I only applied to need blind(ivy leagues) and some generous LACs.. And I ED'd to UChichago(haha Ik that's was a dumb move but the place I volunteered for had a pretty good relations with UChic Dean of Admissions) I got rejected Obv.. Then comes the March..ugh man one the most depressing month of the year ... Rejections after rejections..I guess it was around mid March that I had an update regarding my ECs so I submitted that to LACs and one of the admissions counselor personally told me that he really liked my application..well I had been conversing with him before...for my silly doubts..So I thought hell yeah man I'm gonna get in..they gonna give me full aid..btw I had 1500 SAT score ..and guess what I got rejected..Obv..Then comes the ivy day... rejections from every college I applied to..I was just shattered and didn't know what to do...cuz u know I was so engrossed in US colleges prep and my ECs that I left my jee prep in the middle (like at the start of class 11) I was in a similar position as yours.. Guess what shit went real hard..I fell into depression...and then comes the boards...I somehow studied even though I didn't wanted to..cuz a part of me knew it wasn't the end..but still ..coming out of that void was gonna take longer than a month..I studied just cuz my past self was very ambitious...and would have never wanted to see myself seeping down to the trench.. Somehow I ended up scoring 90+ in boards..and for my Backup plan...well I thought about giving BITSAT and apply to Ashoka...I got into Ashoka with full financial aid in August last year and I scored 180 marks in BITSAT which wasn't enough for getting CS at Pilani or Goa.... I declined Ashoka offer ...eh man I just wanted to test myself again and took a drop year...even tho my parents wanted me to go to Ashoka I didn't...Right now I'm preparing for JEE and yeah it sucks...but I'm gonna do it anyway... This was my US journey... TO ANYONE who comes from not-so- good financial background and wanna apply to US... I guess Germany is best bet... Learn German give Jee or Studenkollege.. and study without tuition fee... And TO the people who are upper middle class... apply to universities like UMaryland, UMass Amherst, Drexel, Purdue, University of Shieffield, UT Arlington, I guess u can afford their fee with aid and job... Thanks have a good day
@@adadadad2004 Hey! I guess the main factor for me getting the full ride at Ashoka was my family's income. They did a lot of background and verification check..Like ITR,Bank statement and any assets(like jewellery, bonds, shares, vehicles if u have any).If u have filled CSS and IDOC form for US universities you will have no issues going throughthe financial aid procedure...Well! As my family income bracket falls below
You’re really brave after facing your hard work and dream falling apart you still have yourself together. Hope you’ll do great in bsc and thn make you dream of getting in lvy League come true.
Hi! a US MD student here! I just came across your video! It's great seeing you applied to so many colleges and your positive attitude towards the outcome! I am not sure how the international SAT process works, but I can see from your application that your SAT score could be an issue( also because you are applying as an international with an unregistered high school!). The other thing that is coming to my mind is that you should have also applied to some City and state schools as your backup! Or apply to some low-tier schools from where you could easily take a transfer for Sophomore year with good grades from Freshman year! that would have solved your high school issue and shown upper-tiered schools that you are a worthy candidate and can handle the curriculum! Good luck with your future endeavor!
As an international student I have also applied to all of this colleges for financial aid obviously. I have already got rejected from my rea school. I don't have bravery to face rd decisions. I hope you're fine
Hey man I like how you're positive throughout the video. All the colleges you applied were very competitive, I actually stay in PA and it's very hard for kids in America to get into top tier schools as everyone has very high achieved stats. I also got rejected from UPenn, but it's not the end of the world. Loved your video by the way, just keep grinding.🔥🔥
Don’t blame your school bro. I got into WashU from a school which was not listed. Infact, I am the first guy to go study in US from my school. Nevertheless, you will have an amazing future ahead.
U seem very knowledgeable about the entire process of getting into colleges in US , kindly make a video on that. I'm currently in 12 I have applied for indian colleges but I'm very clueless about SAT and all would be brilliant if u made a couple of videos on that
bro he applied into ivy leagues with no safety schools, no strong background how tf do u think he’s knowledgeable, there are plenty more RUclipsrs such as Shaurya Sinha that could help u about this😂😂😂
@@akasheeshh Well the reason was for the safeties that he didnt have enough money to pay to the safety college and shaurya's story is completely different. for the SAT he should have gone to
Not trying to be demotivating or anything, but he represents what most should refrain from doing. 4 mistakes are very clear from the video: 1) He applied for the name, not actually researching the colleges. 2) He applied for ED2 in 2 places, which aside from being unethical, could rescind his application totally. 3) He did not research the process itself, his SAT was below the 25th Percentile for the majority of colleges 4) College counsellors who told him his score was high, were literally looking to make money, as even though a 1380 may be a lot above average, it is just not enough, even for a US citizen, let alone an international applicant. Yes, he needed scholarships, but still, his application could definitely have been improved by investing in a counsellor. Not everyone needs a counsellor, I didn't because most of my friends and seniors have been through the process, but if you are going to apply and are looking to get that scholarship, having a guiding hand is extremely helpful. Can't comment further without his grades, stats and EC's/essays, but thats what was genuinely evident from the video. If you are going to apply, give it your all, dont be stuck in this 50-50 I need to study for India as well as abroad that's all, no disrespect to the creator
Dude, I couldn't control my laugh. To be honest, i am in the same condition as you were and, it just made me remember myself waiting for the result and getting rejected, and I am laughing not to mock you but to tell you that there are people like you who motivated people like me to do something better than yesterday, even after not getting what you're expecting and i think, this video is all about Motivation and Motivation and the persistance, that's what we really need. May be you'll laugh watching your videos and sometimes, it may make you feel bad, at those times, please remember me and people like us, we are the one working for the foundation and By the Grace of Family and the mutual support, we can do impossible as impossible resembles the meaning I'm Possible. More Power To You!
I think u could have applied to safe universities too , so u would have a university as a back up ,if haven’t gotten into any of the ivy leagues , so u could have gotten into that ig, according to your application.
Even i applied to college in UK Russel group based Universities and got 3 rejection out of 8 which i applied and believe me it's not that hard to deal a rejection because they just run through our application and not carefully read all of our documents but i got a seat and going for 2023 studies in September so yeah...
Hey why dont u go to SI - UK fair in india ....it helds so many times in india or mumbai.... its a uk uni scholarship fair so yeah i'm sure that maybe u can go there and attend the fair maybe u can get the scholarship for atleast uk.... Best wishes!!
try stevens, iit, or north eastern unis you got differed by harvard that means you could easly get into NEU its next to ivy and dont be upset cause most of these unis do accept people who pay a lot of of money or even students they know
these universities are hard to get to even harder than iits , i don't understand why indians think just by scoring good grades in school and sat they will get into these colleges.
I think he may be right. While it might sound like placing blame, it's true that wealthy people often have more resources and know how to navigate these processes. That said, I agree that being underprivileged doesn't mean you can't apply; it just sometimes lowers your chances if you're completely unaware of what steps to take.
I did the same mistake for 2022 I mostly applied to all priv unis which solely rejected me just because I indicated the need of financial aid this year I got more than 10 admits from top state unis with a considerable amount of scholarship so my advice would be if y'all wanna do bachelor's in USA state unis should be your top choice. Best of luck to everyone 👍
I can relate omkar, I just some bretty bad rejections too but I'm still hopeful on the other schools that's yet to reveal there decisions, hopefully I get into a good school 🤞
9,10,11 ke percentage bata. Also Bhai don’t want to demotivate you but you sure had no idea about applying to the US. You had no safety schools and that just dumb all your schools were ambitious
Safety schools ka fees high rehta hai bro. Me sirf need based wale ko apply kar rha tha kyuki 100% scholarship k buna waise bhi impossible hota jana and yes that was a dumb move. Nice observation btw.
@@thatunconventionalaspect as an international student safety schools do give fair amount of scholarships and looking at your stats u could have gotten around 5-6K scholarship
you had a 1320 SAT score which is way below the average SAT score for any of the colleges you applied to and i don't think was a blunder from your high school, the problem is that you thought that getting into an ivy league is easy there are thousands of applicants who are better than you and you putting yourself up there with them and thinking it wasn't your fault that you didnt get in doesnt make sense at all cause at the end of the day its all you. the organization that you went to lied to you btw there is no way your application was good and you said that your essays for brown and cornell were really good but looking at the way you speak i really dont think you level of really good is actually good you should have just applied to a community college in the US if you really wanted to study there and maybe just maybe you would have had a chance
Nowadays every reason people tell me for me not being accepted feels true however harsh it maybe. Thanks for watching man! Hey btw I have been thinking of posting related content and I would appreciate if you could give your honest opinion in each of the upcoming videos.
Bro, the Ivy League education is not worth the selectivity or tuition. Get into a US school that will offer you good financial aid. You can get good education at nearly any state school in the US.
Bro I got 100%(combination of scholarship an financial aid) free tuition fee at TCU and $150000 scholarship at Ohio Wesleyan and I’m still not able to afford the costs . Just relax , this isn’t the end.
I didn't even get to apply. :) I took the sat. My score was a 1210. I fucked up my grade 11 and 12 tests..I failed in maths in 12th prelims 1. So there was no way I was going to get in XD so why should I even waste my time and money trying? Haha . Happy for you on getting the scholarship tho. Keep it up bro
Hi bro ,i also want to apply to us for my undergrad. Can u please help me with my ec's and where did u go for sat coaching or which helped you with your application.
Hey, can you please assist me a bit please? I can't seem to get the answers for these questions. So, i saw some videos and they said that I need to study STEM or any other other subject atleast one year in usa as and undergrad for a medical degree and then I need to give my MCAT exam only then can I apply for Harvard, I just want to know that is the information right? Because if I study mbbs i will not be able to apply for Harvard, so it either Harvard or staying in India and completing mbbs here, and it's a huge risk, and i don't want to regret anything later. Could you please please please assist, i can't find any right video or site to clear these doubts, it would be really helpful. Thankyou!
Most of the schools you applied to have single-digit overall acceptance rates. You might as well have played the lottery. Nurture your interests and do well as an undergraduate in India and then apply to graduate programs in the United States. Or, learn ERP, IT security, and AI software in India and then apply for jobs in the so-called Western world like people have been doing for the last 40 years or so. I know this may sound like a stereotype but I don't mean to offend- just suggesting something practical.
Bro sorry but don't let these let you down. I too am a Ugandan going to 12th grade next year but I found this video looking for information on how I can apply but I have almost lost my hope😞😞 just because they say it is even worse for Africans applying for 100 percent funding.
First I have to say how proud I am of you for making this video. Now some harsh truths:- 1) 1300+ score is not enough or adequate for an Indian to apply. You prepared for a week and got that score may be impressive for you but admission committee doesnt care you took 1 week or 1 year. They look at score. 2) Why you applied with that low SAT score to Ivy league or Stanford. Indians are an over representated group at US universities. What sets you apart? You did not mention your extra curriculars 3) You said you wasted your 2 years on US admissions, thats a big red flag. US colleges appreciate people doing something apart from preparing for admissions. A job, courses in community college, even NGO work. I myself would not select someone who spent two years in admission prep only. Please keep that in mind when you apply for US masters. Good luck
You're right. Guess I should've talked about my application a little bit more and should have also focused more on increasing my SAT scores. Thank you!
Hey, you are amazing! I think your for sure had an aplication good enoguh for getting in to those ivys, but american system is fucked up. I am 14 now, and my dream is to get in to an ivy leauge im working on it ( i am from poland) Keep your head up!
Hey can you tell me at what time do you apply in 12th standard or after 12th standard. If you will apply in 12 then how will you fill you 12th marks if the exams aren't done yet

Also where did u get your application assesed it.Did you also get help in profile building. Plz share the company which helped u it will be really helful to me
Nah I saw a couple of unis where it showed that his application fees was waived. Didn't observe that carefully for other unis. But I feel his SAT score was too low for good unis considering he was applying for 100 percent aid.
@@sakshamraina5124 Yeah but he submitted the SAT scores tho (which was low for top unis). If he chose not to submit, might have been a different story. A lot of people misunderstand the "test optional" thing in my opinion. 1550+ SAT scores still give you the edge in getting admitted. "Test Optional" just means it isn't compulsory to submit (for getting admission). As an international student I think, it is must to get 1550+ SAT and 3 SAT Subject tests at 780-800. Thats cause international students and Indians in general don't have the best Extra-Curriculars. Also their essays are usually not as nuanced and personal/emotional as US applicants who have a lot of experience with essays ever since middle school. So yeah, standardized tests are the easiest piece in the cake you want to master. It's cool if you have a different opinion to mine, I respect that.
@@anishmal2305 It is must but it needs a lot of preparation which a normal 12th class student can't give because he/she is already too busy in preparing their own entrance exams like JEE , NEET etc Or their Board exams, some people might disagree but everyone knows it's quite rare to get such a high score when you are already preparing for such rigrous exams, so that much of high score isn't the easiest piece of cake , that's why we choose "test optional".

Exactly, or he could have applied to some safeties.... 1380 is tooooo low for Ivy leagues unless you've some exceptional ECs and Essays.
i agree , a sat in this range is like sabotaging your own chances .
You will be successful in whatever you choose to do
Bro is expecting 100% scholarship with 1380 😭
So proud of you man! Never give up no matter what!

Hey man still chilled out and stay top always

Hopefully you're making the best out of these 4 years, start up or summat do something crazy, you're a solid guy now toughened after rejections, you can face anything.

Hi! a US MD student here!
Thoda pehle bol deta😂. Just kidding. Thanks for the advise

@@akasheeshh Well the reason was for the safeties that he didnt have enough money to pay to the safety college and shaurya's story is completely different. for the SAT he should have gone to
Not trying to be demotivating or anything, but he represents what most should refrain from doing. 4 mistakes are very clear from the video:
1) He applied for the name, not actually researching the colleges.
2) He applied for ED2 in 2 places, which aside from being unethical, could rescind his application totally.
3) He did not research the process itself, his SAT was below the 25th Percentile for the majority of colleges
4) College counsellors who told him his score was high, were literally looking to make money, as even though a 1380 may be a lot above average, it is just not enough, even for a US citizen, let alone an international applicant.
If you are going to apply, give it your all, dont be stuck in this 50-50 I need to study for India as well as abroad
that's all, no disrespect to the creator

Most of the schools you applied to have single-digit overall acceptance rates. You might as well have played the lottery. Can you make a video on how to make an application
First I have to say how proud I am of you for making this video. Now some harsh truths:-
1) 1300+ score is not enough or adequate for an Indian to apply. You prepared for a week and got that score may be impressive for you but admission committee doesnt care you took 1 week or 1 year. They look at score.
2) Why you applied with that low SAT score to Ivy league or Stanford. Indians are an over representated group at US universities. What sets you apart? You did not mention your extra curriculars
3) You said you wasted your 2 years on US admissions, thats a big red flag. US colleges appreciate people doing something apart from preparing for admissions. A job, courses in community college, even NGO work. I myself would not select someone who spent two years in admission prep only.
Please keep that in mind when you apply for US masters. Good luck
