  • Hello all and welcome back! In this episode, we start tearing into the 1928 John Deere D... We actually make a pretty good dent in the project. We tackle the removal of the radiator, governor and fan shaft, upper water pipe, manifold and cylinder head. Stay tuned - more videos to come!

The gas tank on my International 3-5 LB is in the same condition. Good thing I spent a goodly portion of my working life as a sheet metal mechanic! That crunched right rear fender can be straightened with a little patience. Also, I'm betting that broken manifold can be brazed up good as new. This will be a great project Kenny!

The manifold is broken into three pieces... I can get a new reproduction manifold - but they aren't cheap!

That went well looking forward to the rear end guts.

Good work. The details I see on yours confirm to me that mine is a 28 as well.
My oil pump was stopping the crank as well.

This is the short tank D, too. I think that those may have only been made for part of 1928. Not positive on that, though.

Thanks for the video Kenny! My last tractor show did the season is this weekend. Taking the 460 one day and 756 another. Might do a small one the 31st but not sure

Good amount accomplished in a couple hours. I hope you are able to salvage as much as possible with some good sandblasting. What are your thoughts on this tractor now that you have torn it down? I hope you are able to make some good money on the parts that you sell off of this tractor. By the way, no tear down is complete without finding a mouse nest. And 55 degrees sounds mighty nice down here in Florida. Thanks Kenny.... looking forward to the next one! 🚜 👍

I think that this tractor was assembled as a piece of lawn art at some point in it's past. You will see in the next video just how bad things are inside this one.

It was half stripped internally. Thanks Kenny!

I used jb water weld on the gas tank on a b. Worked good. And there's a jb weld ad on this video

I have a 29 John Deere D that I need the engine block, one piston, connecting rod and piston bearing. I also may need some clutch parts. How do I get a hold of you?

Unfortunately I do not have any of these parts available for your tractor, but have a friend that can help. I responded to your e-mail this evening.
