Double Lung Transplant Patient Meets Donor Family

In 2009, Michael Bono was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Thanks to a team at Loyola Medicine led by Daniel Dilling, MD, pulmonologist and Jeffrey Schwartz, MD, chair of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, Michael received a double lung transplant in 2021 and recently was able to meet the family of his donor, Scott Schuetz. Despite the loss of their son, Scott's parents are grateful to see a part of him live on through Michael.
