Huge Classic Car Junkyard - Wrecked Vintage Muscle Cars

- This is a tribute to one of the largest and best classic car junkyards in the world, Bob's Auto Parts in Fostoria, Michigan. At one time this yard had well over 1,200 antique and classic cars. Sadly in 2008 the owner Bob Zimmerman died. There were several auctions to sell off all the parts and cars, but sadly only about 300 cars were saved and the rest were crushed. :(

Man I remember seeing this video when it was new. Can’t believe I found it after 7 years. Great video!!!!!!
Does this yard still exist??
@@dillonadams4979 I don’t think so
Giovane, I wish I could save them all. I made this video to pay tribute to these cars before they were lost forever. Glad to see love for American cars in Brazil!
I saved the 57 Chevy wagon at 18 seconds and a Corvair at the big auction in May of 2008. Only about 300 of the 1800 cars and trucks were sold and I can't say for sure what is left there now, I never went back after they started crushing. I miss Bob and all the good times walking around there, I shot a video back in 1990 that maybe someday I will find a way to post. I walked in there with a $9000.00 line of credit and should have bought more cars as most were going for the opening bid of $400.00 but a lot were just too far gone to save.
Hi Pete,
If you're interested, I would be willing to digitize your video at my cost and post it. I miss Bob too. He was a great guy. Let me know. You can email me at mymopar.com@gmail.com
Thanks, Richard
+Pete Cimbala should of just placed the the complete rust buckets neatly on display in a field some where let people admire what a rel car look like before they are all gone. I say never crush a classic no matter the conditon
nagyon jó azene a képekhez😃😀🙆

There was a yard like this in central, eastern California at the base of the Sierras. Still have the guy's business card. He estimates there were over 80 acres of cars. As far as you could see in the hills there were cars. Nothing newer than the 70s. It was unbelievable. He passed and the kids took over. Scrapped everything and sold the land. Total loss from a collectors standpoint. Very sad :(
Mind-boggling to think all these cars came off the assembly line shiny and new! Truly a graveyard
This yard proves how truly difficult it is to maintain a car.
You know, I lived in Michigan for a good long time and I remember when I was a kid buying...ohh say a 72 Pontiac Le mans 400 for ...75 dollars....and a 68 Camaro for 300 dollars.... but here was the thing. Those cars were rotted hulks. Everything was rotten, bolts, frame, exhaust, floor pans, rockers....because the salt laid out on the road in winter....drive your car one time in that brine bath and forget it... its done.
So, these cars in the salvage yard..I am sure are completely rotten. Its nice to look back on all the classics, I agree and try to rescue them, but in this case It would take SOOOOOO much work.
I live in Oklahoma, and cars down here don't rust, so I see on a regular basis old cars...and its nice.
Get your wrecks in the south west where its dry and there is no salt...much easier to restore.
I love the 40-50's cars nice and curvy!
Just like my ex.
What some people are failing to understand is these cars were parked here and or stacked on one another a very long time ago when they weren't rare classic cars, noone cries about a Chevy cavalier stacked on a Chrysler Sebring right now do they? Same idea. If every car gm and ford and all the big players from the dawn of the automobile era was able to be saved they wouldn't be cool classic cars, it's unfortunate that some of them were crushed but that's what makes us appreciate the ones that were able to saved and maintained
+boredagain5 Exactly, a lot of cars are just someone's disposable daily driver that's beat on. If anyone wants a rusted 10-18 year old car which has black transmission fluid, a worn engine and a rattling power steering pump pulley would you please raise your hand?
Austin Lucas 👎👄👅👃👂👀👀✌👎👎👎👎👎👎👎💘💘
OntarioRedneXXX -I’d add that many cars (especially cars with high horse powered engines) met there end in crashes. The technology was not there and neither was car or driver safety. I bet more muscle cars got totaled or rotted away than anything else.
I saw a 65 impala/caprice in there. I'm glad I was able to save mine from rotting in a graveyard like this. It was in a place like this, but I couldn't watch her rot. So she came home with me and the restoration began. That was 6 years ago. Now she's winning car shows, and looking absolutely beautiful.
If them cars could talk i'd love to hear their stories.
Love the "REO Speed Wagon" at 3:44. Good job, thanks for the tour. Good choice for music too. Most of the junkyards where I'm from used to look like that in the '70's but they all went to the crusher to make room for the 70-90's. Just a big rotating conveyer belt.
Memories rusting away..great video.
It was in Fostoria, Michigan, About 10 miles north of Lapeer, MI. All gone now.
I've been to this junk yard in Mi. It was Bobs Auto Parts sadly most of these cars got crushed.
awesome Packards. Haven't seen that many since Dad took me into the new car Showroom in 1955.
Hate to see other cars stacked on top of other ones
very nice video and a piece of history - thank you very much.
Its a shame to see these old cars like this , im sure at one point all these cars were some ones pride and joy.............now look at em............we replace these old classics with shit boxs of today which we still call cars.....more like cup holders on wheels...................
You do realize cards of today have better gas mileage, better and more efficient engines, and etc.... Old cars have nothing over new cards.
Even then, cards of today look better imo. Much more futuristic lol
hell yeah , totally agree with you,why is it that cars of today all look the same , old cars have an individual look.......always have ..always will........cheers
Cup holders on wheels! Lololol. But really its worse. They are all ugly gray bubbles. How can you possibly find your car in a parking lot? "Oh, there it is. It's the gray one!".
ssan3257
oh there it is the cake of soap with 4 wheels ...
There was a place like this near me when I was younger. Used to get parts for my 69 Chevelle and my Brothers 67 Camaro. When the owner passed, everything was scrapped! There was stuff in there from WAY back with wooden wheels, old milk trucks, muscle cars etc. So sad to see that happened!
In each car there is a legend to tell, to remember, the years go by, just as the water passes in the rivers, so it will also happen in the cars of today in 2021 also one day they can be seen abandoned. stories memories pass through my mind, longings for my childhood when my gaze was captured when I saw these models that in my childhood days I always dreamed of moving in front of my eyes. Thank you very much for this super video that moved the most intimate fibers of my memory. my regards from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴
é de partir o coração ver tantas raridades se decompondo...
What is our love affair with old vehicles? The history? The styles? WTF I wish I knew why I love these old junk cars
Love it... Plymouth, DeSoto, Chrysler, Imperial, Dodge, Lincoln, Rambler, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Buick, Cadillac....
I'd like to have that 66 Ford truck. My Grandfather bought a white one brand new, great memories of learning how to drive a 3 speed on the column as a kid!
Wow, all kinds of rare hardtops and other desirable cars. At least a number were saved, and not all was lost like is often the case.
I am heartbroken when I see the grass growing through them . Once they are gone they will never come back . Great video, I saved it to my favorites. A big thumbs up also. And I did see my 68 Dodge truck in that pile . I wish I could rescue every car in there . Hey nice nice video thank you.
I couldn't watch the whole thing....my heart is aching...:( I wish I could restore some of these..
me neither, I've watched 2 minutes and I'm clicking off now. gotta clear my head.
Treasure trove of restorable stuff. Diamonds in the rough, if placed in the right hands. Shownough !
Im gonna go get sick now
Paradise! The garden! My heaven!
This is the kind of junkyard I could just walk around for 2 hours and take it all in. A load of 30's-50's (my favorite era's)
'57 Chev with Rally II's, I've gotta admit, that looks pretty hip!
"King of Dreams" by Deep Purple
Slaves and Masters album, 1990
I chose it for the "King of Dreams" lyric, which matches what a junkyard like this represents to a gearhead.
Like Joe Lyn Turner, huh?
From the looks of things, I'm amazed that 1 in 4 was purchased. Most look to be pretty hopeless.
I want the '60 Buick. Looks pretty much intact.
lots of good parts out there, some even look good enough to have been project cars.
Unfortunately no. The owner (Bob) died about 5 years ago and there was a number of auctions for the cars and enormous stock of parts. Everything that left over was scrapped. :(
Trust me this place was amazing.
Where is this
Watching this is like saying farewell to the 20th century.
is this place still in existence? were lookin for another project, and I also need some parts for my 60 bel air...
I would have taken all of them and restored them if I had them money and time..
This video was very good.....
Even sadder than the cars themselves, many of the junkyards that warehoused these old wrecks are disappearing by the day. In the northeast many have closed do to envirermental concerns and the responsibility of the owners for clean-up if the soil is polluted (by fluids leaking). Land values also have hit junkyards hard as the property is worth more to builders.
Great music!!
That green/white Chevy looks like a car I once owned & had repainted at one of those budget paint places.(I was19, bought the '57 4dr cheap, with faded factory deeper green.)Sold the car to a 300lb woman, who had trouble getting into '90s era smaller/lower cars. I wonder where this yard's at & if that really may be my old '57.
Makes you want to cry.......
Hopefully that ol international didn’t get squished , I’m fixing one up right now , that one was solid I know because even the front fender line by the cab has no rush , they are a great tough ol work truck
Very cool! I wanted to do the same at my favorite old yard “in the snow” in NJ before we left for south central Florida. Flemings Auto in Egg Harbor Twp, NJ is an old rambling yard with all kinds of stuff. Every year they do The Pumpkin Run Show.
They sure look funny stacked up like cars AREN’T supposed to be! LOL!
I made a few slide shows. FUN stuff! Enjoy...
Flemings 2009 Pumpkin Run Car Show - The COOLEST Car Show - Pt 1 of 3
I'll have a lot more in the coming months. I took LOTS of pics at the shows.
I like that green 57 Chevy sedan at the 7 second mark. Never see 57 chevys in that green/white color scheme at the car shows, so it's got a unique potential to it.
Where is this place like heaven on earth
Just think about it: At some time in the past, each and every one of these junked cars was somebody's brand-new pride and joy. They worked hard for the money to pay for them. Many of them meant more to the owner than just transportation, especially the performance cars. Many of the trucks were the means of somebody's livelihood. And now they all sit forgotten and abandoned. I know where two of my former cars now sit in a yard, and it hurts me to see them when I go there.
that orange 340 makes me wanna cry.
Lots of good shells, worth the money just for the VIN plates.
I died when I saw the beautiful paint of the dart 340
Thumbs Up !!! Darn grass eats them up fast.
Is this junkyard still around if so please let me know where it's at and I thank you very much
This made me so sad to see these beauties wrecked and rusted up
THAT JUST MAKES YOU SICK/// GOOD BYE TOO THE OLD DAYS
I just read that the owner past away in 2008 and the family sold all the cars in auction, hope the new owners restore all of them. Greetings form Mexico!!
Pure Gold
Very cool!! With the sound off. And some interior or up close coverage would have been great
How can they do something like this to the beautiful cars
Indeed, a genuine Gold Mine and not in metal scrap!
Oh Man . . , ,your killin' me . . I want to build a big pole barn & take about 8 of those cars home. . . . .
Where is this place at? I need some parts🤔
Really though it is good that this exists because it is a supply of parts for repairing other old cars when you cant find a part.
Rest in peace, you beautiful legends, I hope you ride forever on the highway in the sky
Do you have a 68 charger in there for sale
This video makes me almost wanna cry😭😭😭
I like ford falcon and holden as much as the next guy but. Yeah u.s cars are grate.
Were any of these for sale
Wow too bad its all gone!
Where is this place? Be cool to look around.
I want that 58 dodge coupe at 4:42, and the power wagon in the beginning.. diamonds in the rough... too some are too mashed but it looks like you could pull some full models together from a few similar cars... you see all the restored classics now and they are just a fraction of what got produced and ended up in the crusher. .
jó a videód😉
Man would have loved to have saved that old power wagon and all the mopars and ponchos! Would have been nice to see what graveyard cars could have done with those old Mopar ,that dude saved some pretty bad stuff from the scraper!
Makes me cry
Dang, so sad to see the completely destroyed ones...
Friends we are living are ideas 💪
is the yard still open?
Where is this located
is this place still open?
Where was this video taken? Someone please tell me.
Good junkyard flick! I am sad to hear about Bob Zimmerman and most of the cars. Please reply. Dave...
71-72 grand prix at 0:40. love those cars.

It's like a play ground 😎
0:33 dodge power wagon, one of the best trucks for offroading. it may go slow but it will get the job done.

WHERE IS THIS
Detroit's history is there!!
At 1:54 is that green stepside for sale
Where is this?
Is any of these cars for sale? Im intrested in purchasing one to restore.
300 of thoose cars were sold at auction, Other ones were crushed and recycled.
I want that '57 chev fuelie convertible!!
passaria horas chorando ai !
AMC Gremlin I saw around 3:15 nice! Rare to.
The Matador next to it is ever rarer. I'm the original owner of a 1972 Javelin AMX with a 401 w/ram-air. From '71 to '72 only 500 came with functional ram-air. AMC built a fun great car. At a car show among Fords, Chevys and Mopar, you know you'll have the only AMC.
henry nevins
It's even rarer to show up to a car show in a DMC. But any car not a Chevy, Ford or Mopar is nice to see at a car show. :)
A Gremlin....*Falls over laughing* ..... My Aunt Pat had one of those. It spent more time getting fixed than she did driving it... She finally wised up and bought a Mercedes.
This place still exists?
