In a PJ mood and decided to start here since I’m a fan of Derek’s reactions. And I did not know that was the name of the song until he said something! So cool
I was in the age range for the Percy Jackson books when they came out (read em all in middle school), but I was firmly a fan of BOTH Harry Potter and Percy Jackson so the debate has always been funny to me. Read all the books for both of them and have watched all the adaptational content they've produced. I DID like Harry Potter a wee bit more than Percy Jackson, but I am SO excited for this. Seeing all the things I recognize from the books in this teaser alone (that the movie didn't touch at all) is raising my hopes up so much. I'm sure it's gonna be a lot of fun. Riptide is an extra great song choice for this teaser because (and I don't think this counts as a spoiler), the sword you can see him hold here is called Riptide!
Derick, you started off this video with a hot take. Love your videos the movies are bad they do not follow the books and Uncle Rick ( Rick Riordan) activity told them not to make that movie. Also, Percy Jackson is the one book with dyslexia representation that is actually good we don't get representation.
I actually got into Harry Potter and Percy Jackson around the same time. I also watched the movies first before picking up the books (of both series) and then I didn't start at the beginning. For HP I started with the Deathly Hollows and for PJO I started with Heroes of Olympus The Lost Hero (first of the sequel series) before reading the rest.
I was in between the two age groups so I was really into both! Percy is my favourite protagonist and they have the better main ship but Harry Potter had this amazing world that I could get lost in! So I got the best of both worlds lol
I'm definitly in the Harry Potter age group! Still love them and I'm interested in the new series that's been announced though I would not mind them starting at year 3 because I feel the first two HP movies were pretty accurate to the books... anyway... I enjoyed the Percy Jackson movies back in the day... and I read the books like 2 two years ago so I'm excited for this! I really like the concept of these books! And I do hope that they stay bookaccurate but I won't mind (good and interesting) changes that expand this story!!!
I was definitely from the Harry Potter generation and read Percy Jackson when I was in college. While I am definitely not a Harry Potter hater, the stories were never very memorable for me. I still don’t remember what happened in half the films I watched. I still am however a Rick Riordan fan. That being said I think his stories got better after Percy Jackson. I’m all in on this Percy Jackson series so it makes enough money for me to get a Trials of Apollo series…
The most accurate description I’ve ever seen of the whole HP vs Pjo debate is: Harry Potter is millennial and Percy Jackson is gen z
my god this is accurate
Riptide is in fact the perfect song choice just brilliant! Percy’s sword is called Riptide 😁

it looks sooo good!!!

I read both the Harry Potter Books and the Percy Jackson books when I was kid. It's definitely possible to be a fan of both.

* ADHD and Dyslexia representation
And yeah, we don’t really get representation and usually if we do, it’s bad ):
I was definitely a Harry Potter fan, but i read the Peter Jackson books too ... liked them a lot. 😄

I really like your chill attitude and enthusiasm about the show and everything you talked about.
Looks interesting. I'll definitely catch the 2-episode Premiere.

The only sad thing is that this is "Lance Reddick" last appearance before his passing..
0:30 Arguably they did not any of the story 🤣😂🤣
I’m optimistic about this one. The films are such a let down compared to the books.
If you read the books, you will quickly see how bad the original movies were.
I read the Harry Potter books and the Percy Jackson books
It reminds me of the first movie, which I don’t mind
The show will be more like the books
how. one of the great things about this adaptation is that it’ll be book accurate, meaning that it’ll have basically nothing in common with the movies
👍✨💫😎💙
The movies are not like the books the show will be more like the books
Think need read books to understand show
