I've made something very similar to this before and still tasted the tofu. To fix this, I add a rum or heavy flavoring that covers the tofu taste. Then let marinate overnight in the fridge. Turns out amazing!
Thanks for sharing!
Ah that's an amazing suggestion! I'll need to try that next time! Thank you :)
Kahlua is really good in this as well
making sure to use silken tofu instead of regular will help with this
I LOVE IT! Your channel makes my life even sweeter than it was before. Thank you for sharing!
So happy you like the recipe!!
Perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. I have some silken tofu and will be making this tomorrow to serve to my brother and his wife who are coming for lunch. Thank you.
Oh my goodness! I love this recipe. Thank you for your creativity using unconventional ingredient. 😍
So happy you liked the video!
Ilysm Vedika, you have inspired me to bake. I’ve always loved to bake but never been bothered to. I love doing it and I thank you for that. My mum lets me bake a lot now. Thanks so much and ilysm and all your recipes. Alisha 💕
You are so sweet! Thanks so much for watching and following along, you are much appreciated :)
Omg your channel has grown so much! So proud of you! I remember when you were at 20k and now you are at 100k! Great job!
Ahh thank you for watching and following along all this time!
I made this and it was supremely good. I am very curious about the tofu affecting the texture. I have a hard time wrapping my head around that using non silken tofu would affect the texture since it's all blended up. It's not that I doubt you but I would like to understand why.
So happy to hear you liked it!! :) Honestly I think it's just a matter of blending it... the tofu is already quite firm in consistency so when stuff is added to it it just makes the texture creamier. Silken tofu is extremely smooth as is.
To answer this question a bit, I had to use regular tofu because my store didn’t have a silken tofu and based on my experiences, silken tofu makes a difference. I blended my regular tofu on its own first because I knew it had to be very smooth. No matter how much I blended it, it remained relatively pasty. I thought when I would add the rest of the ingredients that it would smooth out. It didn’t. It has the texture of smooth pâté. Not creamy, just pasty. Hope that helps.
@@AnthonyLeighDunstan Hi, I know this is a very late reply, but I found adding some liquid (milk or even water) to smooth out the tofu first resulted in texture as smooth as shown in the video. I usually go with 1:1 tofu and liquid ratio. The original commenter's argument actually make sense as silken tofu is basically just unpressed tofu, whereas firm tofu is pressed (depending on the manufacturer, they might use different coagulants for different types of tofu, but the results are usually similar before you press the tofu.) So, by adding more liquid to firm tofu for this particular recipe really just adds back the water that was pressed out by the manufacturer, as we're just blending it all up anyway. Hope this helps :))
I absolutely enjoy how your video are so aesthetic and short! Actually makes me wanna wath it more than 10min long video. 😘
ahh you are so sweet:) Thanks so much for watching and following along!

Finally, was wondering what happened. You haven't posted in a while. This mousse looks delicious, definitely worth trying. I remember seeing a video of a cheesecake being made with silken tofu, I bet it works here too.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loooooove it!!!!! Vegan and very healthy. Thanks!! ❤️🌿
Thanks Lola!!! :)
I love watching your recepies, I have made your PUMPKIN CAKE WITH MOCHA FUDGE FROSTING OVER 20 times. Inspired by you I created 2 ripe plantains smoothies. Blessings to you and all that you do! :)
Ahh so glad you liked the recipes! Thanks so much for watching and following along :)
Nice recipe. I especially like the adding of flavours to the chocolate. It looks like after solidifying it must pipe well. Have you tried that? I want to make chocolate mousse tartlets.
That's a lovely idea!! I haven't tried it myself, but I can imagine it would work beautifully!
@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial hi Vedika, I tried your recipe and there’s a lot that I liked about it. I like that it’s an alternative to the traditional or more common avocado chocolate mousse and that it helps those of us on a bit of a tight budget. I also really liked how you’ve made it so that a myriad of flavours can be subbed in. I used passion fruit instead of raspberry for instance.
There are some things that I would keep in mind when buying the tofu. For me Silken tofu is really important - my store didn’t have it so I had to get the regular version and no matter how much I blended it, it remained pasty. When it came to room temperature it was very pasty. Also, I would say there is a difference in the quality of various brands. Much like Greek yoghurt, the quality can really vary depending on what brand you buy. There are “Traditional“ Greek yoghurts that I find horrible to eat because of the grainy texture. Maybe that is traditional, but I hate it.
I also think the quality of the tofu likely influences the flavour. I cooked dinner with my tofu tonight and so I got a pretty good idea of how it tasted. When I went ahead and made the mousse later on that evening, the taste of the tofu was extremely prominent, so much so that I felt compelled to doctor it. I’d used honey instead of maple syrup to keep costs down, but that was a mistake - it didn’t help the flavour issues at all. I also added cocoa powder which probably effected the texture in the end too - I quite a dry mouth-feel. One thing that seemed to help was vanilla extract. The tofu flavour was less but still present.
I want to taste it again tomorrow and see how it sits. I also want to do the whole recipe again with Silken tofu and maple syrup.
I’m curious to see how it will turn out with the proper ingredients.
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL😍 just explored it and I can’t get enough and just wanna try out all recipies❣️❣️❣️
Ahhh so happy you like the recipes!
This looks so good❤️ I plan to make it this weekend. Always wanting something sweet and healthy. Can’t wait to try it.
Awesome! Let me know how it works out for you :)
Wow,......💕I love easy recipes.....I'm just gonna try substitute tofu with cream cheese.....
Great!!! That would be lovely!
I know it's been 2 years, but can I use coco powder instead of melted chocolate? I'd like it to have less calories
Hmm.. not sure how well cocoa will work in this recipe, it helps with the consistency of the mousse, but you could always try! you might need a bit of agar-agar or gelatin to help it set, or as well as some sweetener.
I always watch your channel even though I'm vegan cause your videos are really good but this video is awesome that I can make it without substituting with egg replacers etc!!
ah you are so sweet! hope you give it a try:)
This looks so good!! I'll have to make it:)
Awesome! let me know if you try it out :)
YES!! Love your vegan videos!!

Avocado
Made it! It's a hit! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Made it today with sugar free chocolate chips and Splenda. My husband is skirting the edges of diabetes🥴. I like it but I think I need to add more Splenda or maybe sugar free syrups?
Tried to send picture but did not work. Tks again for recipe.
Ahh please send your photo to vedika@hotchocolatehits.com :) And sure, I like it a bit less sweet but I think either would be good!
Hot Chocolate Hits hey there. I got my husband to help me send it to you by our jointed email. It did markanddarlene@epbfi.com. He loves it. I also printed off the chocolate cake you did. If it’s as good as the Mose, I’ll make it that way for now on❤️ I love chocolate❤️ This satisfies my chocolate crabings😊 I might even sneak it’s into a potluck🤪
Ahh thanks Darlene! Will check, hope you like it! Keep me updated :)
Love this. Thanks.
This looks delicious! 😍🌴
You are super pretty! The recipe is nice too:)
You are so sweet!
Is okay to blend any berries of our choice ?
you can try!!!
Can I use cocoa powder instead of chocolate? Thanks
Hi Isabel, not sure that cocoa powder will work as well because the mousse may not set... cocoa powder would work for something like an avocado mousse (where you blend avocados and cocoa) but wouldn't recommend it with this recipe!
@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial ok thanks a lot for the quick respond 🙌🏼
Fantastic recipe and your smile is too fantastic it's killing me❤😋✌
You are too sweet!
Hot Chocolate Hits ❤✌😁
Finally!!!!!! U posted... Almost two months since V got a video.. Recipe was great though... But tofu wasn't a big surprise for me as I've already seen Jamie Oliver make it... Speaking of which - was his recipe ur inspiration??? 😉
Anyways great recipe... Please do try to make periodical posts since it's hard to keep track of the uploading dates...
Regards
Nasreen
😊 😊 😊
I didn't know that! But tofu and chocolate is not a new concept, so it's likely that other recipes exist with similar ingredients! RUclips for me is a fun thing, and making a schedule would make it more of a job, which I want to avoid!
+Hot Chocolate Hits ohhh... It's OK.. I was just telling that Jamie did a version too..urs was great too.. But about the posts - a fixed date of video release at least once in a month will be gud n it won't feel like a job to you... And we subscribers wouldn't have to wait for long or short periods of time... Plus - so happy that u almost reached ur first gold( I think) play button from RUclips... Congrats!!!!!
Nasreen:)
How long would this keep in the fridge?
Around a week!
Is it really vegan? Dark chocolate also contains milk
Not necessarily, you can use a dairy free chocolate.
Great video as always! Love that there is no eggs
So happy you liked it!
i love this ❤️
thank you:)))
Hey!! How long would this last in the fridge?
It will last for a week or so! Just make sure you don't add any fruit. Once you add the fruit it should be enjoyed right away!
@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial So dont make it with the raspberries, then? Thank you for responding! If you have/make a cookbook, I would buy it.
@@incogb6696 Yes I would say just serve them with raspberries when you are ready! And cookbook coming out in November!!! Stay tuned :)
@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial congrats :)
Can I use normal tofu? ( without using silken tofu )
Normal probably won't give you the same texture... a friend tried and said it didn't work as well :/
I love your recipes Vedika, you are so cute 😘😘😘
Thanks so much, Karina! So happy you like it:)
What's your name ma'am
اني احب الوصفات مالتج مكن ترجمه عربي💕🌷
There is no silken tofu in my country 😭 Can anyone offer any replacements?
Try aquafaba! it's chickpea water and whips just like egg whites. You will need to whip it separately and then fold into the melted chocolate.
@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial I actually make a lot of aquafaba and freeze it to make ice cream. But, whenever I try to add anything else than sugar and vanilla to the whipped mixture, the puffs just disappear and I am left with a liquid. I think I am doing something wrong somewhere. But, I have no idea.
Why did you add espresso powder?
It enhances the flavour of the chocolate, but you can leave it out if you prefer not to add it!
Milk???
You can use a non-dairy milk like almond! :)
Where are you why don't you make cakes now 😭😭😭
Sumthn told me u wuz Gon say tofu. 😞I don't eat tofu but I'm sure I can substitute it. It luks delicious 😍
Thank you!
Hot Chocolate Hits welkm
Does tofu have any flavour?
Sunrise Productions ! Yes
Posted a pic and tagged you on Instagram. This recipe is as delicious as it is easy.
Awesome!
I use Jamie Oliver's version which he put on his site 6 years ago.
Great!! Do you like it?
If using milk chocolate it is not vegan. Dark chocolate should be 60-70% cocoa to be vegan friendly. Reading the ingredients of chocolate will tell you if milk solids have been added. Generally quality chocolate is best. Well of course!
Thanks for the tips!
What is tofo?
Tofu!

I'm a huge chocolate lover 🍫😂
Awesome video...and u just need 2k subscribers to reach your first RUclips play button
Ahh yes! Glad you liked the video :)
Go vegan for the animals watch Earthling Ed on youtube 💗 thanks for this recipe!!
😋
Isn't this a version of Jamie Oliver's vegan chocolate pots??
I didn't invent the concept of using tofu in this dessert, so it's likely that you'll find other recipes out there that have similar ingredients!
I'm prepping for my partner getting wisdom teeth taken out 📝 one to look forward to
Amazing! How did it work out?
Now I need tofu.
It's not vegan if you add cow's milk
It could be any milk of your choice! She probably added oat milk or plant milk
I’ll add some crumbled bacon to my next batch just because. Hee hee.
Yum!!
tofu. TOFU?!
I know. trust me. it works!
ok then i was just wondereing.@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial
