- Age is an interesting concept in Yakuza game, On one hand, we have Yuki, who hasn’t age since Yakuza 0, On the other, we have Komaki, the only old person who actually looks old. Does RGG Studio need to reboot Like A Dragon because the characters are getting old?...

Majima secretly being a sun-resistant-mutant-vampire his whole life would somehow feel fitting even if it had no context.
Ichiban's optimism isn't infectious, it's pandemic
Honestly. I wanted to hate him because I didn't like the turn based combat and he wasn't kiryu. 2 hours into like a dragon and I'd follow him anywhere
I personally think the characters aging is a neat touch, especially when it’s as visible as it is on say, Kiryu
I thinl the age makes them even better. Ichiban's story is all the better as an underdog because he is already so late in life.
"Ichiban is young" he's currently 46 and by the time another yakuza game comes out he might be 50
Don't forget the obitarian is also in the majima game! Even more evidence that shes immortal!
She has been an old woman since Majima was in his 20s lol this woman must be death itself
She will be the endboss in Dead Souls 2
her swag keeps her alive
Komaki literally learned the Essence of Immortality. I can't wait for Komaki to teach Kiryu that technique
Also dimension warping, ending up in the Fist of the North Star universe.
Having an old(er) person be the protaganist is actually something I'd like to see more of in media. For example this is why I tend to love anime/manga which have an old protagonist, such as My Home Hero. The entire vibe is simply far more unique than your average "I am a 15 year old highschooler who's gonna be number 1 at (insert generic goal)!". So this is one of the reasons why the Yakuza series is a whole other beast, you get to play as old fart Kiryu and you're still beating ass, which is basically the peak of male fantasy!
Rebooting the story would also be difficult because word probably try to push the setting into modern times. Which would remove one of my favorite aspects and that is the decline of the Yakuza and the changes to Kamarocho. Part of what made 0 so good was being in the 80s. The series is just as much of a period drama as it is an action series.
The world would be in such a better place if we had more people like Ichiban. A schyzo friend that ends up going beyond everyone's expectations
Other potential main characters:
Taiga Saejima.
Shun Akiyama.
Joon Gi Han.
Tianyou Zhao.
Daigo Dojima
I would actually love it if Haruto was playable in a later game, maybe even the main character. They can finally retire Kiryu if they age up Haruto and have Kiryu teach him the ropes. They can even have his games take place primarily in the high school from lost judgement. Have his story be revolve around high school drama instead of yakuza stuff since they have been trying to lean away from that.
just finished gaiden, never cried so much at anything
People that didn't cry with that ending probably are already dead inside.
Now play infinite wealth
You’ll cry even more
@@Juanguar i am , currently at the start of ch. 3
Im pretty sure Majima will look better than any of us in 2060
im happy with either, a kiwami 3 would be lovely but im so excited for pirate yakuza in hawaii, its just the goofy situation perfect for majima.
4:08 next entry
Like a Father: The Dragon grills
I'm still wondering why Majima looked younger than Kiryu.
Majima is generally happy and takes it easy, Kiryu is always stressed out serious and depressed
he has a great skincare routine
Cancer a hell of a drug
never used to so 🤷♂️
While we all wish for their happy endings, we can't pretend either as they're saints. Both Majima and Kiryu have done some pretty questionable stuff before the events of 2005, killing being the line that they shouldn't cross (although that is questionable too from some of the game's events, but now a lot of characters seem to have survived catastrophic deaths. so it's up there for whether they killed people or the opposition somehow survived). Kiryu even states he's not proud of his life as a yakuza, so in a way he's satisfied for their bitter sweet ending considering his past (he has desires and wants, but even he knows no one can have everything at the same time). It was the hand they've been dealt with, but it's the one they played nonetheless. They've done a lot of good, but they've still lived a criminal life. They'll probably never reach that dream haven they want to reach, but they can always do good enough.
Reboots will ALWAYS be a bad idea since not only does it destroy YEARS of storytelling effort, the new characters will never be able to live up to the old ones making it a losing battle.
What they've got set up right now with the Ichiban led games, the judgement series, the expanded cast of characters, there are infinite amount of ways the series can expand into. I'm still holding on to the hope for an avengers style assembling between Ichiban and Yagami
They're pretty unecessary in this franchise since they do Kiwami versions regularly enough that the main reasons for reboots (bringing old games back with newer tech) aren't really valid.
You have no idea how much I would give for Yakuza 9 to be Ichiban x Yagami. Having half the game be turnbased and half brawler combat would be so good
@@JackdotC Maybe let ichiban breath as the main character first god damn
I will literally play a Yakuza game which is just every character minigame from 5
Super Yakuza Party
when i growing up a lot of my favorite media had adult protagonists. i’m glad yakuza continues to embrace its adult protags, i could say the same for modern games too like Disco Elysium
I don’t care if Kiryu and Majima stay the same age for 20 more years. I’m playing a video game and I never forget that. I never go “hey wait, Majima is pressing 60 how is his move set possible, he’s too old”. Yakuza isn’t where I’m getting my hyper realistic fix in gaming.
I love these characters and this franchise and will happily play them as long as they are being made.
Kiryu can still kick ass in his 70
Honestly I don't expect any unpredictable crazy sociopathic outrageous fighters to age at all. Majima makes sense for him to look and act young
Like fine wine
I love it, how many Japanese rpg's do you get to play as crazy mad lad close to his 60's?
✌️
I wouldn't mind an IF reboot. If instead of Kiryu, Nishiki survived, didn't change and became a protagonist of the new series.
Yakuza folks are like Resident Evil folks, they age like fine wine.
I’m not that worried look at chuando tan who is 58 or keanu reeves who just turned 60… I do think they lowkey made ichiban a bit too old as he’ll be 50 next game but it’s not the end of the world
Am sure he mentioned in Infinite Wealth he was pushing 50. Not that I care, in fact I really like they put older people on tie stories as I’m tired of constantly playing 17 year olds.
I'm fine with old characters I'm approaching middle-aged so I really enjoy these older protagonists
Majima will still be leaving his retirement home to destroy everyone
I have a theory that they started off Ichiban being kinda old (besides plot reasons) I have the theory it's to set up Haruto being the 3rd main protag after Ichiban .
would be cool
@@Kevvv890k Haruto really shouldn't be fighting, Kiryu fought for a future for their safety
I don't okay the games, so I didn't know they were aging the characters as time went by. Neat!
a kiryu life sim game would be amazing
I was kinda upset when takaya kuroda spoke with a deep tone in the ijincho intermission prep. scene, since it felt kinda offputting for the most part, for me at least..
Majima is definately the type to go grey all at once, while retaining most of his mad mobility, and 5 years later hes gonna be retired with some orphans (copying Kiryu) while maintaining some speed of his old life, he is gonna be an eccentric long bearded martial arts master archetype later
I’m not a vampire (trust)
I’m looking at you rn and you seem like a blood sucker type
I don't want to see them made younger. I love that we have a continued story. What I do want is a side story, where they could have a spin-off or something to give Majima more content from the Yakuza series. I don't feel like we got a how he truly became a yakuza, also theres the 10 years of time that Kiryu is in prison, what is Majima up to? when he gets the Florist's lair... so much content to bring more to the table for him and Yakuza fans would hand you their money....
it means the yakuza era is long gone after anti yakuza law
Personally I wouldn't be too upset with a reboot because it makes it more believable when characters make major mistakes that they learn and grow from.
A big issue here seems to really be, well, fate and bad luck. Because the Judgment games were meant to be the carry-over series to continue the brawler action people like with a young(er) protagonist while Ichiban had the torch passed for the mainline series, but then all that drama happened with Yagami's actor and Nagoshi left (he was the one championing Judgment, since his departure they've started with the more literal Gaiden games) so it's like fate itself is not letting RGG studios move on from Kiryu and Majima.
When i become Old i want to be Like Adachi, But i probably gonna become Nanba
Old? yes but that means it's forever 19 until sickness arrived
4:08 Yeah I wish. But with how much "fans" still moan about Yakuza 3 I somehow doubt they'll do it.
Yuki is best
With they are going to revolt the ages or they just won’t try to call much focus to it. At this point ichi will be nearly 60 before he has a kid.
HARUKA IS OLDER THAN CHITOSE??????? WHY AM I JUST REALIZING THAT
if we are talking bout reboots i wish saejima would be more utilized
I love that also with graphics design, the generation of each game base on the game engine they made the character like how aging and beauty is explained in one piece. If one is determined they won't age that much but some do really age a lot with time along side stress and changes in their life just like the pocket circuit fighter and kiryu.
I will drop this here.
What if Yakuza had a female protagonist?
(I'm not talking about Haruka, I mean a fighter like Kiryu/Ichiban/Majima)
Like, in the 60s, when there was this Female Biker Gang in Japan?
Or like in the Present day with Seonhe?
Also yea , Appearantly haruka ain't gonna be in the show
