    Did he just say a 7.5k raise for obtaining a license? A 7.5k raise seems quite small.

      Michael it really depends on the companies, some people have told us that $7,500 is a large raise for them.

    • @PassthePEExam
      @PassthePEExam  5 месяцев назад

      @eddiepacman2011 While the video focuses on the PE license in general, it's definitely relevant for computer engineers. PE license = more credibility, better career options, and potential for higher pay. The specific requirements for obtaining a PE license in computer engineering can vary depending on your location. Be sure to research the licensing process in your area to understand the steps involved.

    Hello, thanks for this video. I have a question. Is it necessary to get supervision from other PE engineers when you try to get your PE in New York? For example, if I work at a company that does not have PE engineers, can I still get the PE after working on projects for over 4 years? I am young engineer, jus graduated and I am taking the FE next month, I am curious about that. I have been looking for information but seems to be kinda hard to find. I know in Texas you don't need to work on a company with PE engineers but, what about New York?

    • @PassthePEExam
      @PassthePEExam  Год назад +1

      In New York, to become a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), you generally need to meet specific requirements set by the New York State Education Department's Office of the Professions (NYSED). While I can provide general information, it's important to consult the NYSED or a qualified professional for the most accurate and up-to-date guidance. Here are some key points regarding the experience requirements for obtaining a PE license in New York:
      Engineering Experience: To be eligible for a PE license in New York, you typically need to have a combination of education and engineering work experience. The NYSED specifies that you must have at least 8 years of acceptable engineering experience, with a minimum of 4 years being progressive engineering experience beyond the Bachelor's degree.
      Supervision by a Licensed PE: It is common for engineering work experience to require supervision or oversight by a licensed Professional Engineer. The NYSED may require you to have a licensed PE serving as your supervisor or mentor during the experience period. This is to ensure that your work is in compliance with professional standards and regulations.
      Verification of Experience: As part of the licensure application, you will need to provide documentation and references to verify your engineering experience. This may include detailed work experience descriptions, supervisor references, and supporting documentation to demonstrate the nature and scope of your engineering work.
      Alternative Pathways: In some cases, if you do not have direct supervision by a licensed PE at your current workplace, you may explore alternative pathways to meet the experience requirements. For example, you might work under the supervision of a licensed PE on a project basis or engage in engineering work through external collaborations or consultancies.
      It's important to note that the NYSED may evaluate your experience on a case-by-case basis. They will assess the relevance, quality, and depth of your engineering work to determine if it meets the requirements for licensure.
      To obtain precise information about the specific requirements and procedures for obtaining a PE license in New York, it's recommended to contact the NYSED's Office of the Professions directly. They can provide you with comprehensive guidance tailored to your situation and clarify any questions or concerns you may have regarding the experience requirements in New York.

      @@ComicEnthusiast01 Fundamentals of Engineering Exam, which is the first test required for the PE exam. If your engineering major leads to jobs which are to stamp and certify design plans this is the first step into getting all the necessary requirements to do so and is highly recommended to take around senior year while all the info is fresh. However, some fields may not care so much, like mine, Electrical. I've spoke to many EE and almost all do not have these certifications and you do not need the requirements to work for big companies such as Boeing.

      CA is complicated for Civil Engineers when it comes to certification for PE. Last time I checked (2017-2018) I think that state requires the PE exam, a seismic exam, and a third exam based in surveying (particularly light surveying).

    I would not likely hire an engineer with a P.E. license in my engineering consulting company. We don't need it for the work we do, and I don't want to deal with someone who has to maintain their license that does nothing for my company. But if I were designing public infrastructure for the state, then a P.E. might be necessary.

    This certification is only relevant for traditional engineering careers. If you work in tech or certain niche Engineering fields like microchip design, etc, Employers couldn't care less.

    • @PassthePEExam
      @PassthePEExam  2 года назад

      De Kev I would agree that the license is more important to certain fields, but even an engineer in software, could end up on their own consulting in 10 years from now and in that case, the license would be valuable.

      @@PassthePEExam there are countless software engineering consultants with their own companies that don't even have software engineering degrees. Like I said, when it comes to traditional engineering projects that require high safety standards, this certification might come in handy, as for many modern niche fields, your past projects and pedigree are more important than hour paper certification.
