A decision to use cheap, obviously fake drawn in looking CGI for the imaginery friends, for a film whose hook is literally that the creatures are real and not fake and made up is one of the stupidest creative decisions I have ever seen.
It's definitely not cheap to pay a company (no matter how small) to implement special effects in any film. Also you have to give credit where credits due. The effects are really good here. You're just nit picking a film's creative decision that the whole plot is leaning on in the first place. Why not throw your anger and frustrations into creating your own art? There's no point in losing your cool over something you can't control. Never cry over spilt milk.
