I absolutely love Olof's creativity and skill. This is reminiscent of the USA 2021 moment when he did the nub stride to cut the middle of the quad to set up a trap at the cube. Big ups to that wild man!
@@TedHolmwood Yeah, it was the first ever APEX DOGE vs APEX ETH match. Unfortunately the edit doesn't draw much attention to that super technical move, but you'll see it during Olof vs. Danee. For a little backstory, as Olof starts that chase, he makes multiple beginner errors so uncharacteristic of what we had trained for APEX strategy, and I remember thinking "What in the hell, Olof?..." and then right as he tacs up to the bench it hit me all at once as to what he was up to. The fact he not only landed it but that he somehow achieved the correct timing to make it useful is just mind-blowing. WCT history right there :)
I’m so grateful to be a part of a sport where I can be in the finals with my homies ❤ Also fun fact: I dislocated my elbow at 4:27 chasing Michael and then it relocated when I stood up. I was a lot of pain during chase 9 and pretty sure I subluxed it again. I don’t remember a lot of this match lol
That Olof move was the best move of the entire tournament or probably the entire WCT history. Insane. Also just noticed it looks like Bear was saying WTF in the slowmo recap LOL
It's rare for athletes to be anything but self-serious, but one of my favorite things about WCT is how playful it can get between teams. Not only was it an excellent match, but you could tell how much *fun* everyone was having, even here at the finals, battling it out amongst friends.
Well Apex moon and Apex sun are technically the same team, they swap players around to make the most balanced teams possible. One season you may be on Sun the next on moon. You can't switch mid-season but before the season begins you can.
It was literally cheating, magic like this should be outlawed! Imagine just casually casting Litany of Eloquence on poor Bear, just switching him off for a good half a second, how is this fair?!😂
That precision bounce back by Olof was easy the single best evasive maneuver in WCT history. What a moment! Bear stood there with his hands up in confusion asking wtf just happened, he was so stunned. Another exhilarating WCT final!
I swear the moves that have been pulled off during this tournament were ones that i would think "imagine if someone did this" but then these athletes actually did them. MAN I can't wait for the worlds. This is gonna be SICK!!!
I expected nothing less from my favorite team. Apex Moon are on top! It was also nice to see Jason. Also, that switch up from Olof was literally insane.
3:56 is why hearing Dan Dawson commentating is just as much what makes WCT so fun as watching what's on the screen, haha. Would LOVE to see another couple of between-season episodes of Dan and the gang breaking down highlights like they did back in 2021. Those were great ways to hear more about the strategy and theory of the sport while celebrating these talented athletes
I absolutely love the amount of good sportsmanship I'm seeing here, from pick me up's to hug's, they know at the end of the day it's just a game and their having fun. x)
The camera work this season has been the best yet, I love the top down whole court view in a chase. Amazing work guys thanks for another great tournament
Commentators.. the Olof switchup wasn't a mistake (6:20), it was on purpose. The footing was clearly on the edge, for the specific purpose of going under and tricking Bear.
In the first US season of WCT, Olof was probably the weakest active (not counting Amos at the time) member of Apex (now Moon), it's amazing how far he's come since then, and was already feeling it in WCT5, he'd already levelled up massively by then, but that move at the sisters really cements it in a new way.
Imagine Apex Moon but with Jason and Seth as well 😳 Unbelievable team. And the 2nd best team is also an Apex team. The domination is crazy. I wonder if anyone can beat them and who will they be.
I'd say, thad both Hollywood and Dexterity came pretty close in their respective semi's, some Dexterity lads just need more exp of the quad (Gio would be a glaring example - loads of talent and physique, but also a ton of tactical mistakes), which is very manageable, and Freerunners... Well, imho, they just need to improve Dale and Miguel positions in the roaster, with all due respect, these guys just don't seem like going-toe-to-toe-against-apex kind of athletes to me
That olof's turn is the most insane thing I have ever seen.....it was definitely intentional because of his footing. He would have been caught if he had gone straight.
Honestly crazy how apex moon can lose two of the all time best and still go undefeated! They look human for once, but if the old members come back and jarrod stays its basically unfair
Excellent championship match, neither team disappointed. Apex Moon remains undefeated, but Alex Sun shouldn’t feel disappointed about there great performance
Bad idea actually. They often need to dive through tight gaps - a body cam could easily be the difference between them going through and getting stuck in the middle - same reason stuff like helmets isn't (and hopefully never will be) used in the sport and most guys who choose to wear some protective gear only go for the pieces that don't restrict their movement too much.
Holy guacamole, this final was *INCREDIBLE*! Almost every chase featured something special, from Maxwell's brilliant evasion against Sliger, to Olof's trick, people falling out of the quad, epic scrambles, epic tags, and a very close ending! That's the way to close the tournament! (I would've fancied a Sun victory though 😋) Thanks for the entertainment WCT! ♥
Jesus, I beaned myself just walking out of my garage yesterday, and then again when the wife left a cupboard door open - I'd murder myself trying this.
What a game, top level once again and great fun from both team ! Olof's moves (even aside what's probably a top3 WCT moves) were incredible, so much power and control, and same from Jarrod, loved how he was moving for the whole comp, well done everyone !
5:41 for evade of the year? I feel going over the sisters from the floor via a kong or step-up is slower, but the exit angle carries more momentum and provides more options. Carrying one's momentum down under the sisters may be faster initially, but vulnerable slow exits can open evaders up to tags from above or dive tags underneath. Obviously in parkour, carrying your momentum is a big part of flow and speed. However, in Chase Tag it's clear that evaders that can rapidly shift and reverse their momentum through obstacles gain a substantial advantage. That gap between the sisters, like a lot of the obstacles in square, is a risk v. reward equation. There are so many places to make dives, cut-backs, and transitions that are technically possible, but realistically incredible dangerous in a competitive chase environment. Jumping the first platform and relying on your feet to catch the bar without slipping, before transferring your momentum backwards and down to the ground, all while ducking your had and body in the gap between the floor and bottom of the platform, so you can then shift your momentum laterally out from beneath the sisters and back to the lazy boy is absolutely wild precsion and control. Hands down, one of the best evade techniques I have seen on the sisters, or the quad in general. Can't wait to see teams practice this and what other cheeky spots become evade metas in the future.
These Apex teams are another level. But if Olof is getting evasion then its better to give up. However never saw an evasion like that when Olof just ducked
Excellent example of how we force great friendships into the guise of competition. Look at how they hugged at the end. If footballers could behave like this our youth would have better role models
I'd actually like to see a French team do an animation, rather than a Japanese anime. France has a long history of good animation, and the sport is popular there, which it isn't (yet) in Japan.
Every member of Apex Moon I can describe with one word, reliable. I love watching them hope Jason Wu joins them again and would be something else if Davis V from GNF joined them too. 🤩
Welp, at least they are getting evaded now (and not just by another Apex team), so, the hope for an intriguing tournament in the near future is showing the signs of life, I'd reckon.
This shit is hilarious 😆 they need to have kids who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s compete… we are pro’s at running like this.. away from our momma coming after us with a shoe (or wooden spoon in my case) 😂
5:41 What an insane U-turn😱

yes, definitely on purpose! Olof & Jarrod have practiced this move before (maybe some others too).
Olof is awesome ❤

@Ocean Olof vs Augustin might move too fast for the cameras to keep up.
No question these are the best 2 teams in the world
thank you!! 💛
Olof has the coldest move/evasion in history, that was to smooth
Olof's round 10 evasion is the single best evasion I think I've ever seen. So masterfully done and even took Bear completely by surprise :o
