"The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power." - Franklin D. Roosevelt
There always has to be a balance when it comes to public and private power. If there is too much private power, we end up like Somalia. If there is too much public power, we end up like Venezuela. In the end, it depends on how money is spent and what incentives are set for society and individuals, regardless of whether you agree with taxation or agree with no taxation.
K1dCharlemagne Actually, having more cooks in reserve in the kitchen would help get more food prepared, but I will move to your point about FDR. If we focus more resources for Social Security towards poor seniors instead of to seniors who already have an index fund or 401(k) going well for them, we can save this ship. Joe Biden already has a proposal to remove the payroll tax cap (having people above $400K pay the Social Security tax), which is a good start. Now, he just needs the second part (the focus of resources to people who have an absolute need for those resources, regardless of the reason why they didn’t acquire enough money for retirement).

I don't know how life is for Black guys in small business but I have seen how discrimination has beaten on old white guys since 1990s in big corporations. At first it was no problem because there was only one black employee per 100. But as more black employees came on the more the special treatment for Blacks took away merit promotions from those who deserved it. The it came to the golden parachute anytime a black employee wanted to change jobs. They just filed a lawsuit for discrimination and quit. The attorneys would ask how much was the ex-employee asking, then say if its under $50k then just pay it. I'm just tired of government getting involved with anything. You just triggered so many bots, you'll bankrupt the kremlin XD
Only term*
Not being Trump is good enough for most people. Most anti Trump election ever.
Can anybody honestly imagine Joe Biden having the energy to lead any sort of project or prosecute any sort of direction or even hold anybody to account whilst in the White House? Based on his debate and campaign performance I don't think he is going to have the energy... The very definition of yesterday's man...
what about the 15$ minimum wage?
As a matter of fact, I just saw Hobby Lobby raise their minimum wage to $17 an hour. So, $15 an hour as a standard makes Biden seem more moderate. He will just have to make sure that he doesn’t inadvertently hurt small businesses. Go after the bigwigs first.
