@@Stylophone hell yeah! This thing is way too much fun and has this... uhm ... like absolutely intuitive and instant approach when it comes to translating ideas into sound! Having been a guitar player for ages, this (to me) is the perfect hand-on tool
I've been watching all these reels, I've just bought the stylophone beat, and I'm amazed what these tiny music machines are actually capable of. Great that they're portable, but what would tip them over into define must haves would be a mains input, rather than just relying on batteries and an easier way to connect out to other complimenting equipment. I'm on the waiting list for the up and coming theremin! My musician friend has his own theremin and we can't wait to do a theremin battle!! Realistically, when will it be on general sale? Thanks
House music, more specifically analogue house music or classic house music. These types of devices (drum machines, synthesizers) were initially intended to accompany jazz instrumentalists. Unsurprisingly, not many classical musicians liked the acid sound of the early synths or the oversaturated drum samples from the first drum machines. Quickly these machines made their way to the second-hand market, where independent producers and DJs began to utilize the cheap hardware. Due to the limitations of the hardware, the earliest house music had no effects or transitions, and it wasn’t mastered like it is today. There was no side chain compression or stereo image. See Mr. Fingers as an example.
The Beat is very difficult to learn to use well. Overall it's a toy but it can be fun. The fun is diminished by its limitations and you will ever so often come out of the hypnotic state of play it can put you into aggravated by the fact you've basically been listening to the same few instruments and beats for an hour.
I don't believe that it was recorded in one take. I have Stylophone Beat and I can't play more than a couple of notes because the sequencer won't record all of them and would play just some nonsense. I'll have to record every instrument in 2 takes if not 4. That's a fake demo.
Definitely belongs on some oldschool video game lol dope
Definitely!👍

The BEAT is connected to the GEN X-1 aux input and the GEN X-1 output is connected to a USB audio interface for recording.

Does the stylophone beat have only preset sounds or is there a way to record/load your own?
Good question! It only has preset sounds. Definitely adding this to the feedback list though :)
