I’m so sorry this happened to you 😢 When I was transitioning to natural, I thought I was going to be straightening every 3 months and trimming and that never happened. I will be 4 years in October and still haven’t touched a flat iron because I’m scared to get heat damage. I am also licensed and feel like most stylist will give you heat damage because many don’t care about the integrity of your hair. They mostly care about sleek and frizz free regardless of destroying your natural curls. I had people tell me to rest and let someone do my hair and I’m like I don’t trust anybody. When I do straighten, I will do it myself. I’m so careful that if anything, it might not come out as smooth as I want and that’s ok even though I got the Revair and can get it really flat so the flat iron should not be a problem. I mainly do wash and gos so the thought of my hair becoming limp and lifeless frightens me. Do you know how many passes or the temperature she used? Did she use Babybliss which are titanium plates which get really hot? It’s supposed to be for professionals but even non professionals could buy them. But the issue I have with people is that as soon as they see type 4 hair, they turn the iron to 450. The goal is to blow dry the hair flat enough to not need to use high heat. I know all the rules but still scared because I have seen many get heat damage online from professionals. I had a girl tell me about getting heat damage in Sally’s one day saying she went to a “natural hair salon” and told me not to go to the salons. So many get their hair straightened and don’t care about the hair changing textures because they don’t care for their natural hair texture. Then it’s us that do wash and gos and we get pissed. A girl on here stated you have to tell them that you wear wash and gos when in reality they should be trying to use heat safe enough for your hair to snap back to the original. But don’t forget years ago the look for black women were fried, dyed, and laid to the side 💯 It’s still many in the era still. Long as your hair is swinging, they don’t care. They will only blame you once you leave the shop 💯 I’m glad you stayed in the video that you didn’t re flat iron your hair again because they will definitely ask you that.

I think some of us are more prone to heat damage then others. Maybe you can opt for a straight wig or sow in. So sorry this happened to you again love.
