It’s the comfort level of the unprofessionalism with some of these businesses that cater to Black people for me. The energy is giving “if you don’t ___________ (fill in the blank), then you ain’t Black!” It’s hitting very close to entitlement.

I been using this for a while an I ran out I tried other mint and tea tree shampoo but nothing is working like this I use the co wash for a treatment an follow up with my shampoo and conditioner

Just trimmed 1 inch of dead ends and applied doo groo mega long oil fertilizer to my ends hopefully my hair starts growing

I always dye my hair when really dirty and it takes the color real quick .....my hair is very long pass my ass ... then after I shampoo it and conditioner it I put 3 times of oil and leave like that for 3 weeks then do it all over again

I am an African woman with 4C type of hair and I've had symptoms of seborrhoeic dermatitis for over 10 years but it's not really been so much issue because I've been cutting my hair all this while. Throughout high school and college as well as my internship, I wore my hair cropped to the scalp and washed it everyday while bathing so it was not much of an issue until few years back when I started growing my hair and started braiding my hair. Then I noticed severe itching and scaliness. It was so bad that when I made braids using hair extensions, I'd have to go to the salon and have them wash the braids: hair extension and all trying to get those scales off my scalp and reduce the itching but after sometime I made peace with myself that using hair extensions was not for me. That was even before I went at the dermatologist. My scalp regimen prescribed by my dermatologist is twice weekly washing of my hair with antifungal shampoo. So that's what I'm doing now and my scalp has been quiet since then; no itching. If maybe I am so busy I'm not able to wash the hair one or two days beyond the mark, I start itching again and the scales start showing up. But here's the downside which made me start searching online for people who have similar condition. I can't make, for instance, corn rows and wear them comfortably for more than one week. If I decide not to wash, within one week or by one week the scales build up and they are so visible which is quite embarrassing and of course, my scalp gets itchy too But if I wash, the hair style just tears apart; it becomes very rough and I'd have to loose the hair and make another one. I also noticed my hair doesn't seem to be growing anymore and feels dry most of the time since I started twice weekly washing. After washing, I apply my leave in hair conditioner - mega growth - and hair cream - hair milk (the natural hair type; I learned there is a different type for wigs) - but I was looking to see the recommended hair cream or oil for this condition due to the dryness and poor growth I've noticed.

I know it's not always the hairstylist fault it can also be the client fault some client are entitled

Some hair stylists will charge you for falling asleep. I've been trying to learn how to do my own hair. Some stylist will charge you detangling fees and blow dry your hair. you have to come with your hair blow dried and washed. I've been watching all the RUclips videos and doing all my research so I can eventually learn to do my hair myself I know within practice I will get better

I recently got mine cut and I love it. Now that I’m over that phobia I will be getting it trimmed every 8 weeks maybe even cut to maintain my look. My hair is very happy.

Thanks for sharing. I do have SD as well, and I say do not feel uncomfortable for having tried various different products. It comes with the territory. It takes a while to find what works. I literally did the big chop at one point because I have a lot of hair, and my scalp needed some air. I have recently found DHS Zinc shampoo to be amazing. I found it on accident at CVS Pharmacy. It works.. I also spotted it on Amazon. Rucker Roots (a black owned business) also has some great natural products. I use the serum on my scalp and their moisturizer for my hair. In between my DHS shampoo, I use Rucker Roots' shampoo and conditioner. Best my scalp has ever been. I recently started applying vitamine E to my scalp as well I am now trying to regrow. Wish me well on that one.

I want braids so bad I have not had them in over 15 years probably longer because my scalp just refuses to let me have any type of braid, flat twist for more then two day 😢😅😢😅

I just took down my braids after a week due to throat was sore sneezing 🤧 and scalp burning 🥵 and stinging.. information needed: expression hair is what caused all this went to doctor..I'm allergic to the hair...last time I went to hospital I was allergic to relaxer ..but any way for the expression hair..they gave me steroids.. and another pill along with cream for hair and scalp area...I would never wear weave..my face not broken out or swollen anymore i take my medicine every day.peace and blessings

Most deep conditioners actually only say to let it sit on your hair for 5 minutes. Deep conditioners are formulated slightly differently than regular conditioners and I don't see any reason to use both a deep conditioner and a regular conditioner unless you're deep conditioner doesn't have enough slip and you want to detangle with it. A heavy protein hair mask though is different but still most tend to say about 5 minutes. There are some that might say if you want to deeper treatment to leave it on longer though. But generally I don't think deep conditioning takes that much time if you're following the directions. Since it replaces the regular conditioner, it doesn't add extra time unless you want it to. I think I saw a cosmetic chemist on RUclips say that using a deep conditioner versus a conditioner is kind of like how you would use a lotion/emulsion versus a cream. Some people have naturally dry skin. Some people have naturally oily skin that doesn't mean that either of their skin is damaged but some people need a light lotion and some people need a heavy cream. I thought that made sense so I started deep conditioning more often and I like it. The only thing I don't like is that deep conditioners come in small sizes lol. Im a former stylist 30yrs and Salon Manager. The stylist today not all but the majority can't handle constructive criticism, just came out of school and know everything, can't cut hair , can't shampoo. They take everything personal .They may disagree but they need to work in a very professional salon with a open mine and a willingness to learn. When things go bad they blame the client or anyone but them selves. This did not just happen I saw it happening before I retired 2007 only gotten worse. I pray it gets better.

I never really wear them to be serious they look ridiculous imo I almost always see the lace on the wig someone is wearing or it just looks super fake. Its weird seeing a Asian woman’s hair on an African woman.
