Great content once again Andrew! When doing some diagnostic work and checking runouts on my 2014 Charger R/T Plus, 100th Year Anniversary Edition, I tracked some vibration down to a front hub bearing that I'd replaced 6-months prior. The lateral runout at the bearing hub/flange was 0.007" (TIR). The Mopar specification from AllData was 0.0008 at the brake rotor! That was an eye opener for me, and I then realized that the tolerances are very strict for these modern cars with 20-inch wheels. Keep up the good work.
Wish you were close by me. Shade tree mechanics here. Spent $600 and 3 trips on braking burning smell to no avail. Waiting for appt to another place. Not feeling positive in my small town.
hello i didn’t have this issue until i changed my tires and it only comes from the front right side also there is no noise when turning right or left the woo woo noise only happens at low speed when i accelerate it disappears any thought?
Good question! At that low mileage, it would be unlikely for the noise to be caused by a failed wheel bearing. If the noise corresponds with getting new tires, the tires are likely the cause of the noise. It is very common for new tires to be noisy and it can take a bit for them to break in. If you continue to hear the noise, I would recommend first having the tires checked out by the shop you purchased them from. There are a number of reasons a tire would make noise, and that would be more common than a wheel bearing issue.
At first it seemed like noise coming under the engine bay because I don’t have any covers for the bottom of the engine. In addition, now, a few thousand miles later it’s only when I make a slow turn to the left, but not to the right, and it sounds like possibly a bearing (left?). It doesn’t matter if I press the brake pedal.
In my case I hear this woo wooo wooo wooo sound when driving. Changes the frequency with speed. No vibrations on steering wheel. No grinding or wining sound. The sound is more pronounced at speeds around 20mph, 40mph and then 60. I dont see any visual anomalies on tires. What is funny is when having winter tires, there was no sound or maybe just a little. Winter tires are 18inch, summer are 20inch. So this season when changing back to summer tires the sound is louder again. I make around 5000 miles on each every season. So summer tires are about 30000 miles old.
Yeah, generally when you hear about a "woo, woo, woo" sound, along with the other details you provided, it is a tire issue. Tire noise can often be mistaken for a wheel bearing issue, so you need to investigate both to make sure you diagnose the issue properly.
My tire rubs when I’m going straight and turning left but when I turn right the rubbing goes away. I had the tire rods replaced and tires aligned and it’s still rubbing badly and idk why. The place that did the alignment for me said that the wheel bearings are going to need to be replaced soon but I’m not sure if that will cause the crazy amount of rubbing I’m hearing. Any ideas?
A wheel bearing should not cause the intermittent tire rubbing you describe. If the tire rub was not present prior to the recent tire-rod replacement, that could be the issue. Sometimes a part or the fastening hardware can be installed improperly and cause an issue like this. Might be worth taking it back to the shop for an inspection, or getting another opinion from a different shop.
Have a Skoda Superb 2019 automatic gearbox. While driving in higher speed, souds like left bearing is bad, the long "woooooo" nosie that never ends, and it's been worse over time. Did change the bearing, but the sound never change. Some mechanists says that the fault is geabox bearing, but comparing to other cars, the sound is much different, and don't sounds like it's coming from gearbox. More like a tire. Checked tires, and all is good, the sound never goes away. Any suggestioms?
Ack i need a real mechanic that will listen to me (interview). And not tell me i worry to much. I am very aware of my vehicle feeling, noises etc. . When i say the rotors are hot as h.... Im serious im touching them after short drives. Brake petal still to floor/mushy after new pads, rotors, fluid exchange im told its normal for 14 yr old withe 160k (NOT!) Mini van pulls in both diirections especially at highway speeds Im not imagining this. Almost impossible to handle. When driving along side a wall something is dragging, but no one seems interested in telling me WHY. I DO NOT want a car with 100 solenoids, valves and sensors. I do not want an interference engine, or variable valve timing, variable cam management, or a fake automatic trany ccv or what ever or 3 cat converters & 4 o2 sensors i could go on but wont. Where can i get at least pre 2000 (standard trany would be nice) that has been well maintained with actual real receipt evidience (car fax of very little use) A, major concern: When I tell a mechanic the entire van has dropped about 4" they shrug as if its impossible. Well I Can NO LONGER GET MY HEAD UNDER IT, WHY ???????? i have spent alot of time under there ( got pix to prove it.) My head hasn't grown! Sorry for the rant. After spending no getting scred for $7000 in last 18months. Now its time for the necessary suspensions work $$$$$ repairs. Is it time for a funeral?????? 😢

I’ve a cx5 2014 I noticed when driving high speeds high no noise low speeds I’ll check it out tomorrow get too you, great content by the way.

also the car has only 30 thousand miles

@@BCABearings i really appreciate the help, thanks a lot

@Mig-ln9hm It was the right front wheel bearing. The mechanic spun the wheel on the lift and heard it (2006 Audi A4)

Great explanation. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!

Does the "wooo" noise change depending on speed, when the steering wheel is turned, or when braking?

Hes wrong about wheel bearings not making growling noise when braking
