This music video is genius, too. All the hundreds of things that had to go perfectly in order to shoot this in one, continuous take! Knocks my socks off Every. Time.
This has to be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Such deep lyrics and emotion makes this a favorite of mine. I think the music video is brillinat. Sara is a geniune musical genious.
I own hundreds of CD's and record LPs dating back to the 1960's era. I listen to and perform just about everything there is. I must tell you this is one of the finest mood ballads I have ever heard period! Sara...you are a remarkable artist and song stylist. I am highly impressed by this masterpiece you have created here. 100m stars for such a gift to all of us starving for quality music these days. mark
Just shows from the beginning of her career she was destined to be on Broadway, her songs always paint a picture, plus providing any good singer a chance to show their chops. Her voice is like a kiss from an ocean breeze. Beautiful woman with a beautiful soul.
@stupiditystupefied it's a song about being held down by a lover, not in a romactic sense but in an sense of feeling trapped. "I don't wanna fall another into your gravity"..."your keeping me down?" seriously people, can no one see this isn't a LOVE song?!?!?
This is Sara's most beautiful song...and my personal favorite. Her voice is gorgeous in this song and the "you're keeping me down" makes me shiver every time I hear it,it's amazing! ;*
the video is simply fantastic. the use of the city lights to simulate the stars of the universe as she drifts away from the planet is so simplistic. no special effects. just. simplicity. perfect.
I'm crying right now.. so beautiful song and very original video.. just discovered sara yesterday, had heard "love song" but i saw her singing this song in live from abbey road.. my god what a talent!
A truly beautiful and amazing song, with a simple and amazing video. Sara Bareilles is a truly talented woman, and unlike most artists out there right now her hit singles are progressively getting better. These are the kind of people that deserve to be famous! People that actually have TALENT!
This song is so beautiful it brings tears to the eyes. Nothing better than an amazing songwriter that writes with their heart. This is from the heart without a doubt.
I absolutely adore this song! Sara's voice is sheer brilliance! And those lyrics! My favourite part is the bridge where she goes: I live here on my knees as I try to make you see that you're everything I need here on the ground.
The first time I heard this song was during a Mia Michaels choreographed number performed by Kayla and Kupono on SYTYCD. I fell in love with it then. Decided to try and find the video today and little did I know that I would need a TISSUE while watching it! Like a lot of people have already said, it really hit home. It's hauntingly beautiful and currently my new favorite slow song.
Moving on doesn't mean that you have to forget them. You should always remember them. Remember the good times and smile. The tough times are learning experiences that will help you with life in the future.
also, whoever thought of the concept and execution of this video is creative as hell. it's the universe...acted out by objects and people on the street. i didn't even get that the first time i watched this.
When I heard this song on So You Think You Can Dance, I immediatly jumped onto iTunes to buy it! I love it so much and listen to it constantly. I think the video is really good. There's no weird story line or anything. It's just her singing about her feelings.
Gosh... I can't stop watching this video. I've probably seen it a million times. Sara... need I say more? But the creativity of this video just blows me away. I always feel like there's something new to be found. Like in the beginning, I've always noticed the land and water... but I didn't notice it was a city grid to Sara's right. I think it should be hyped up as much as Feist's 1234 music video. There's a lot of choreography involved in this one as well. Sara makes it that much more amazing.
This song is absolutely amazing. I get goosebumps every time I listen to it, especially at the end when she sings the part "...keeping me doooooooown". LOVE IT!
2:58 - 3:04 is just flawless. Such a beautiful voice!!! And the dance that Kayla and Kupono did to that on SYTYCD was just great!!! Such a beautiful song!!
Some of these people obviously don't understand the limitations of a one shot video. It's a slow song, it shouldn't be cutting all over the place... the smooth dollying backwards while she walks is gentle, the lights and background revolving around her obviously pertains to the song title. It's an intimate song, not a poppy "this is why I probably love you" song. Don't hate, Video is great sara :) hope to see you again live when you come around DC/Baltimore.
Omg! the background for her music video is so Creative!--earth, moon, shooting star, star constellation, space, etc. ---(follows the whole concept and theme of gravity) **Brilliant song and music video! One of my fav. song
definitivamente siempre hay algo q nos lleva de regreso a las personas que amamos. Solo basta con recondar uno de los mejores momentos q viviste cn esa persona. I MISS YOU SO MUCH BB!
Seriously, the song is one of the songs that have touched me so deeply in all my life! I loved the space idea, it was an awesome idea, but i dont think that it was quite pulled off. I still love the music!!
i love this song and video. very rarely has there been such a beautiful yet heartbreaking song that had an equally beautiful yet unique and creative video. one of my favorites of all time.
Don't mean to lower the tone but I'm a MASSIVE videogame player. Ever since I heard this song I've been waiting for the day it accompanies a Final Fantasy trailer. Seriously it has huge JRPG emotional vibes. Am I the only one that thinks this? Incredible song from and Incredible talent.
It's an earthbound galaxy, a galaxy of gravity, because you can still see her walking down a regular street, passing flowers and having people biking and walking around her, wearing hard hats, etc. The street is also flooded with water which in this context is most likely a metaphor for suffering, a flood of tears so to speak. I'm either spot on with this interpretation, or ridiculously wrong. You decide. =) Either way, I like the video, there's a raw edge to it that's kind of refreshing.
This is the most beautiful performance I have heard in a long time. Song, voice, everything blends perfectly together. Just wonderful can't stop playing it. Absolute bliss. Favourited and as many stars as I am permitted to award. Cedge
this is such a great video! the use of people and normal object to capture the universe she is in. I mean WOW! who every thought up the concept for this was true inspired. i could watch this for ever.
this song always makes me feel something, even on days I think I can't. It's gotten me through years of struggling with disordered eating & urges to restrict what I nourish my body with. this song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of that awful cyclical experience
that's some really cool use of lighting! when she was walking from the truck with the globe it looked like the earth in the background with the moon around it.
I pray that you find it too. Happiness will come only after have cried and hurt beyond belief. Don't ever think that you will never love again. Love will find you.
Even after a decade this song never ceases to be ICONIC. Still one of my favourite songs ever.
This music video is genius, too. All the hundreds of things that had to go perfectly in order to shoot this in one, continuous take! Knocks my socks off Every. Time.
11 years and still loving this piece. Never gets old. ❤
This has to be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Such deep lyrics and emotion makes this a favorite of mine. I think the music video is brillinat. Sara is a geniune musical genious.
This one of the most well written songs of the past 25 years. She’s definitely an authentic artist.

she is so talented. I thing she may be my favorite artist of all time- luv her! Such a powerful song.
I can't get sick of hearing this song, I hope Sara never gets tired of singing it.
Just shows from the beginning of her career she was destined to be on Broadway, her songs always paint a picture, plus providing any good singer a chance to show their chops. Her voice is like a kiss from an ocean breeze. Beautiful woman with a beautiful soul.
14 years and I am still here. ❤❤❤ this never gets old.
This and "City" were my favourite songs on the album. Good to see this beautiful song released as a single!
@stupiditystupefied it's a song about being held down by a lover, not in a romactic sense but in an sense of feeling trapped. "I don't wanna fall another into your gravity"..."your keeping me down?" seriously people, can no one see this isn't a LOVE song?!?!?

Her voice is so pure and beautiful, so crisp and clear. And the lyrics kill like a sniper
i love the dance Kayle and Kupono did to this song. awesome song!!
the video is simply fantastic. the use of the city lights to simulate the stars of the universe as she drifts away from the planet is so simplistic. no special effects.

This song is so beautiful it brings tears to the eyes.
Nothing better than an amazing songwriter that writes with their heart.
This is from the heart without a doubt.
I'm not even joking, I have listened to this song about 7 times in a row, just now. When she goes to the bridge it gets so good!!
I absolutely adore this song! Sara's voice is sheer brilliance! And those lyrics!
My favourite part is the bridge where she goes:
I live here on my knees as I try to make you see that you're everything I need here on the ground.

SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
my fav song in her album 'Little Voice'. and the music video was quite special too.

probably one of my favorite music videos... the way they create the solar system in the city is amazing, and the song is beautiful too
Wonderful! Very visually captivating. But I had to go back and watch it again because I didn't hear the song. Beautiful all in all.

i can't believe it, but the video makes the song even more beautiful than it already is.
Gosh... I can't stop watching this video. I've probably seen it a million times. Sara... need I say more?

wow. what a beautiful song conveyed through a beautiful voice.
