This runs counter to the 'Posse Comitatus' legal doctrine as put forth by SCOTUS, but I'm sure someone has found a loophole to run this through. Personally I expect that whatever the results of the election, there will be directed civilian violence happening and the only question is how many, how widespread, and for how long. Plus of course how it will be handled which will have a direct bearing on the other aspects. There will also be "independent operators" involved doing bad things. As to how local LE will use this new rule I think we need look no further than how they use SWAT teams. When those began they only went in after normal techniques and tactics weren't working. Now SWAT goes in first in many situations whether there's an actual need or not, and lesser resolutions are no longer even being tried. So at the first tiny hint that local LE might not be able to deal with whatever situation they perceive coming, real or not, they're going to "call in the Cavalry" immediately and wait for their arrival before acting themselves just like they do with the 'beat Cops' and the SWAT teams. Expect Martial Law to be implemented and your rights to be suspended or ignored. I grew up when Vietnam was being protested, when riots were occurring in the poor sections of many cities, when the National Guard was being deployed to "keep the peace" by adding warriors to it. "Peace" did get restored, but many innocent people were harmed or killed to bring that about, and many were not themselves being violent or harming anyone or anything else but they were still targeted. While I don't want to see any disruption of any citizen's life by protesting or rioting, I also don't want to see the Military involved in any way shape or form. Civil policing is not their job nor are they trained for that. From Biblical times we've known that a house divided cannot stand. Neither can a house where hatred of others in that same house is tolerated or where some people are treated differently than others. I hope my vision of the near future is totally wrong with all my heart but we all need to be ready either way or in between.
It will be peaceful (more or less) here in SC, but only because this State is so red politically it could pass for the USSR or China. We're Rebels by nature and heart but as long as we are left to do our own thing without outside influence we're generally peaceful. I fear what might happen in other parts of my beloved Country though.
