Absolutely agree with the other comments: your tutorial was thorough and easy to follow. And you did it in record time--no need to sit through a half-hour tutorial with crappy music and hard to follow instructions! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
You can try this: after you have drawn the line to spit the circle. If everything isnt still selected then try to reselect both the circles and the line again before clicking divide :)
Thanks for this, it's so helpful. Would you be able to teach how to make a rainbow with spaces between as well? I would like to create patterns and do whimsical things in it.
You could select the entire rainbow, the Open path finder and click "divide" then right click the shape and click ungroup. Now You can delete the bows You dont want :)
+The Shroud so You Are using illustrator creative cloud i guess? :) You should be able to import it. Unfortunatly im at Work right now but I can test it this evening and see if i can find the cause :)
Yeah that's right, I never noticed! Illustrator CC. My friend set it up because I'm not very tech savy. so I'm really looking forward to learn more from your channel! I'll see if I can import it myself and I'll let you know if I have any success. Thanks.
+The Shroud i love teaching People how to do graphic design. So i really apreciate that You like My content :) Are You following the exact instructions from the video When You try to import the Swatches? :)
+Neets S i would propably make a copy of the Rainbow and merge All the color so it is one object, then i would make i Black and then add the border to the object. Then finally just put the copied Rainbow below the first one. Hope this make sense :)
I found that in inDesign V.17.2.1 there is not Object --> Path --> Offset Path. Is there an alternative way to create the rainbow. Tutorial is wonderful and very understandable, just wish I had "offset path".
@@DiaGraphics indeed, but on Adobe Illustrator I get a notification that the file is an unknown format and therefore cannot be opened :( I am using MacBook. It's okay though, Maybe you have the individual color numbers?
sorry for late reply. It works when i try so i really don't know what's wrong. You can just pause the video and then use the eyedropper tool in illustrator to pick up the color from the video. Simply start holding down the mouse button inside illustrator and then move the eyedropper tool over the video while still holding down the mouse key :)
Try drawing a line across the circle like in the video. Then select All the circles and the line. Then go to pathfinder and select divide. This should Work too ☺️
Have You made sure the stroke is off When You draw the line across the circles? It Will not Work if You have selected a color for the stroke as we only use it to cut the circles :)
No matter what I do, I cannot offset path on the the circle if it doesn't have a fill color.. I can Offset the path of anything anything else, just not a circle. I have the stroke set to 50, and set to Align Stroke outside. :/
Im sorry i havnt had that issue before. I really have no idea why it wouldnt Work. If You find a solution please post it in here for other People to find. ☺️

@@DiaGraphics oh wow that’s awesome, thanks so much.
You Are welcome 😊
Thank you for the video. Although, Illustrator says the swatches are an 'unknown format'... :( any ideas?
+The Shroud thank You for the comment, which version of illustrator Are You using? :)
It's the 2015 release , 19.0.0. Does that make sense :s
Do you think I need to change the format or something?

How would this change if I wanted a very thick and black border around each arc?
+Neets S i would propably make a copy of the Rainbow and merge All the color so it is one object, then i would make i Black and then add the border to the object. Then finally just put the copied Rainbow below the first one. Hope this make sense :)

Are You indeed using indesign instead of illustrator then thats the problem? :D
Hi
Isn't it an ASE file?

Think i will do a video on this tip as im sure many do not know this :D
it won't allow me to use the line segment tool and i am not sure why :(
I’m still trying to make the rainbow shape. It’s not allowing me to cut after I’ve divided them. What have I done wrong?
Do You Mean that You cant cut the circles into half circles? :)
@@DiaGraphics yes! Sorry I forgotten English existed for a moment.
Try drawing a line across the circle like in the video. Then select All the circles and the line. Then go to pathfinder and select divide. This should Work too ☺️
You can find pathfinder under "window - pathfinder"

everyime i put the line segment on it puts a big black line on the image where the line segment was when i divide object below :(
