It's amazing how just adding the Tau helmet totally changes how the models present themselves. I mean they are obviously Gundam models but the helmet swap drags the models into your lore. awesome as always. I am Alpharius.
I did consider hand swaps for weapons too but for all the fiddling about that would of been I don’t think it’s entirely necessary, maybe less is more in this case 🙂
1:50 Essentially, the crotch piece is taken from the V2 Assault Gundam half of the V2 Assault Buster. The V2 Assault Gundam’s armor has gold anti-beam coating applied, and the crotch(considering its vicinity to the cockpit and pilot) was deemed important enough to add this plated armor to it. Also, the crotch and other armor parts are equipped with additional sensor units to improve visibility during battle.
I think the Gundams are a great fit, and the head is alright on the Crisis Suit commander, I think if theres a way to repose the legs on it though it might make the pose a little more natural. Overall looks great though!
Crisis Battle suits based on Aura Battlers might be a great fit for a Vespid like army. Aura Battlers are from the anime Aura Battler Dunbine which was made by the same creator as Gundam.
Ya know...The Amican 1st gives off big HFY Human force vibes. "We don't wanna fight, Imperium. But man, you try us and we'll pound you into the dirt." sorta thing.
I feel the head fits more better with a Dom body. Give that the GM felt like its being used by a Younger soldier while the the Dom felt like this old veteran that saw his fair share of combat or the Body of a rick dias.
I know it was a joke and all, but at 1:45, that's additional armor that was added onto the V2 Gundam with it's Assault loadout. It's reactive armor, and has a golden anti-beam coating. At least on the original V2 Assault Buster Gundam that is.
@@LizardofDoom Well the Assault armor was meant to increase it's assault and melee capabilities, so having more armor for that is pretty good. Although personally, I think it was more an art thing to help make the V2 Assault look better aesthetically sine otherwise it would only have bulked up shoulders and knees which might look kinda weird. (with the kit being the Assault Buster V2, a combination of the V2's two armor types)
This was a super interesting video. I like the "Human Tau" concept, and using these small Gundam kits is a super neat idea for more humanoid looking Crisis Suits. I like the exposed human head in-theory, but it stands out on the suit's body. I think personally if the suit used as the basis was a bit chunkier it'd look better, because the head feels very large in proportion to the limbs and shoulders. So either a chunkier suit body, or a smaller, slimmer human head would work better. But I think it's also the stark color contrast of the flesh tones against all that weathered yellow. But in either case, it's a good idea that just needs a change in execution. On another topic, I absolutely *lovrd* the narration you did during the reveal shots! That was *excellent* work. From the voice to the writing, it *really* got me invested and immersed into the lore for your army of T'au gue'vesa. It helped me to connect with it on a level I simply didn't up until that point. So great job! Wonderful addition! I seriously hope you do more stuff like this in future videos.(maybe a narration for an Age of Sigmar army??? That'd be very nice to see.)
I did have the head on a chunkier one with the rocket launcher but it looked like a guy poking his head out of a fake sumo suit 😂 I think I’ll pop it off and replace with a helmet eventually, good experiment, didn’t work. I will be doing a Cities of Sigmar army with for this years armies on parade and there’ll be lots of tales to go with that too. 🙂
I always love a Lizard Lore episode. The Amicus crew is so hopeful and inspiring that I shudder to think what the grimdark universe has in store for them.
If you're maybe looking for something smaller than your garden variety Gundam mobile suit, but still within the 1/144 scale, you may want to keep an eye peeled for what are called Core Gundams. They're smaller Gundam suits that usually are paired with an over-suit of armor to make them more combat capable than they are. Just a suggestion. Also if you're ever looking for something with some shoulder cannons and the like, there are two I can reccomend; first is another akin to your second one, Chu Chu's Trainer, called Demi Barding. Demi is basically similar to Chu Chu's but has a large backpack with dual cannons and a second head for how it can seperate from the main unit. It also comes with a big gun, too. Second is the GM Shoulder Cannon, which is a more general looking MS in the lore but has either a single sboulder cannon or dual shoulder mounted missile batteries, as well as a handheld rifle.
I love the sound of this. LOL Gundam cod piece. Personally I always choose helmets. (Because I'm afraid to paint faces. lololol!) Faces make sense with the fact that these are human Tau. No need for crack grenades with that sneeze. Bless you. lol. I think the arms could use a little putty work to make it look like a human could slide an arm in but only because of the close up. I love your Lizard Lore! Good stuff.
They came out super cool, thanks to sock dootems for the donation. Human head fits in well. How easily did the paint stick to the models, ive had issues in the past painting some gundams.
I really loved what you did this video. I'm honestly considering doing something similar myself now! I have a pretty traditional tau army (as in only GW models so far) and wanted to know, are there any kits that stick out to you as fitting that sort of aesthetic?
These little guys are Gundam Artifacts and there’s 4 series to chose from so there’s a ton of different options to fit your flavour. For a t’au looking riptide sized Gundam I’d recommend one of the Demi Trainer ones as the heads look like tau drones that have been locked in to the bodies. 🙂
I recommend looking at the 30-minute Missions range of gunpla. It's a modular system, making customs easy. My favorite of the range is the Mass-produced Sub-machine
the human head kinda looks like a trophy stuk onto the gundam, similar to how chaos enjoy putting heads on spikes, and not really like it's the head of the pilot popping out.
That works surprisingly well. Except for the human head. And I think it's not so much the head itself, but the entire pose of that mini. It's too static and the arms are too outstretched. It makes him look like he is firing his guns in a frenzied panic, instead of being tactical and deliberate.
I think the human head makes much more obvious that humans shouldn’t fit in the suit maybe if you pick one of the bulkier look better I still would probably go for a all helmeted look tho not trying to complain they all still look great
As someone about to get into warhammer FROM doing gunpla, i'd been curious about how to mix the two, and it's so cool that those are basically the perfect size. I absolutely want to try this too!

The head unit of the Victory and V2 (yes, V in V2 stands for Victory) has a sniper eye patch to aid and increase the sniping abilities to be vastly greater than it already was. To put into perspective, the fight at ranges that exceeds several hundreds of thousands of miles. It is a minimum of 100,000 for open space combat and a maximum of nearly 1 million, this is excluding the Colony Laser weapons they have which exceeds this can can reach from Jupiter to Earth's surface in a matter of seconds, not minutes, seconds. so at @1:47 " what's the bit on his crotch?" short version, this mech, the v2 Assault Buster Gundam, is an up-armored version of another mech called the v2 Gundam, which can transform. On the standard v2, the crotch does some complex unfolding and twisting for the transformation, so the big bulky armor there is to cover up the delicate transformation mechanisms. Love the conversion!!!! The helmets look amazing 😊 The human head fits but it needs a little something… not sure what…. The Gundams do look like a human could pilot them 😊😊😊
First thing first nice looking gundams ,us gundam people just call those crotch pieces armour 😅 ( depending on what suit they can contain extra thrusters , mechanisms for leg /front skirt gubbins , decorative extras ) and yes humans CAN fit inside them 😂 normally in the cockpit in the chest as even the smaller gundams are just over 15 metres tall ( not counting setsuna f seiei who insists he's a gundam😂)
I am glad you did more GunPla Tau. I always think Tau are based on Gundam and other Mech Animes when they were created in the Year of Big E 2001. I seen bits for Space marines to make them into the gundam guys but like I said Tau fits better
I'm not a huge fan of the human head on your Crisis Battlesuit Commander, as the Crisis Battlesuits are all armored up from head to toe, so having one just with an exposed head doesn't sit well with me.
Gundam minis are so over the top and have excessive details that don't really fit the tau aesthetic to me. You could try to kitbash more than just the head, maybe change the weapons to actual Tau weaponry, shoulder pads and such.

Thank you man, the head was on one of the chunkier rocket launcher ones at one point but it felt kind of swallowed by the mini, i think popping it off and putting a helmet on is probably the best option :)
Looking great, Max! The models are neat too, I guess ;)
Thank you 😘
looks good. altho i think the tau sit in the chest compartment of their crisis suit i remember seeing a codex artwork that had like a x-ray slice. either way it still looks great
These came out GREAT! Shame the legs aren't that poseable but definitely seems worth the attempt!
Thank you mate! I got as much variation out of them as I could 😂
What an Accent them thur tau sport sir
Love the conversion!!!! The helmets look amazing 😊
The human head fits but it needs a little something… not sure what…. The Gundams do look like a human could pilot them 😊😊😊
Thank you! I think the head technically fits but looks a little off so it might just be best to pop it off and put a helmet on.
@@LizardofDoom you are welcome 🤗
Could be the change it needs
Go with your instinct 😎
Nice work
Thank you mate 🙂
Bro wasps the one who asked about the Zulu Kroot
I’m planning ash waste kroot, little less questionable 🤣
First thing first nice looking gundams ,us gundam people just call those crotch pieces armour 😅 ( depending on what suit they can contain extra thrusters , mechanisms for leg /front skirt gubbins , decorative extras ) and yes humans CAN fit inside them 😂 normally in the cockpit in the chest as even the smaller gundams are just over 15 metres tall ( not counting setsuna f seiei who insists he's a gundam😂)
I like these crisis suit proxies, not a fan of the human head tbh. Maybe give that one the palanite enforcer head?
It was worth an experiment but I think ultimately I’ll be popping it off and putting a helmet on him.
FOOOR THE ALGORYTHMPERORRRRR
💪
I am glad you did more GunPla Tau. I always think Tau are based on Gundam and other Mech Animes when they were created in the Year of Big E 2001. I seen bits for Space marines to make them into the gundam guys but like I said Tau fits better
They suit the army so nicely!
Agreed @@LizardofDoom
Yup, in order to pilot a human crisis suit you either have to be a toddler OR cut your arms off.
i did think it looked like he had no arms 😂
I would replace the head, im not sure I fully buy that they fit into the gundams. At tabletop distance, theylll look great tho
I think I’m going to pop it off and put a tau helmet on, it was worth a try 🙂
@@LizardofDoom yup! Experimentation is how you get better at stuff!
Not related to the suits at all, but where did you get that shirt? I like it a lot
I got it from my local branch of this tv and movies store: www.tvmnorwich.co.uk
I'm not a huge fan of the human head on your Crisis Battlesuit Commander, as the Crisis Battlesuits are all armored up from head to toe, so having one just with an exposed head doesn't sit well with me.
I think the head might be a bit off kilter and or the neck is too long? They look fantastic but imo the bearded face doesn't do it for me
He looks more like a cyborg then human which could still be cool but it doesnt sound very tau like. I'd stick to tau helmets for now tho
yeah i popped that head back off in the end 😊
Will you ever do the Farsight Enclaves?
Probably not if I’m being honest, part of my love for the hobby is making my own factions and stories 🙂
@@LizardofDoom what about kitbashing just Commander Farsight from Gunpla as a subscriber milestone or Patreon goal?
How do they compaire size wise compaired to the gw models?
Pretty much spot on, hop in the discord I put a size comparison in the general chat 🙂
Cool
its a codpiece on the gundam
🍆
Al G O'Rithm
Top o’ the mornin’ to ya 😂
Are the tiny Gundams just models or are they part of a game? Also why isn't there a gundam wargame ?
They just models, i believe there is a fan made game for gundams 😊
Gundam minis are so over the top and have excessive details that don't really fit the tau aesthetic to me. You could try to kitbash more than just the head, maybe change the weapons to actual Tau weaponry, shoulder pads and such.
