  • This is my 2000 Nissan Maxima. In this video I will be showing you how to change spark plugs in your car. It is basically the same process in all cars it's just a matter of finding where the spark plugs are. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe for more videos on Nissan Maxima's.

DON'T just drop the plug in there. You can mess up the gap.
Lower it down gently, and turn it left first, until it seats. Then turn right. If you just go and tighten it, you may get it crossthreaded.

Good video, just did this on my 2000 Maxima. Other random tips: start in the front as pictured. Rear/right plugs are the hardest, depending on how the throttle cables and such are routed and the lengths of your socket extensions. 5/8" (equivalent to 17mm) plug socket with rubber insert grips the plugs if you have one. I had to remove a few extra 10mm bolts to get easy access to the last plug, and the book torque value on the plugs is 20 to 29 Nm (14 to 22 ft-lbs).

Wish it was a video of the rear plugs. I can't find one of this specific car. Ugh! Especially plug 5, looks like a beast.

People won't show a video and the hell they caught doing the back three. It can be done with the right tools but it will be time consuming 😂

I have a question about changing the rear spark plugs in this video - Are you sure the three green plugs that you pointed out aren't the fuel injector harnesses. By looking at the front three they look like the rear three injector harnesses instead of the coil pack harnesses. Everyone has told me you have to remove the intake peltium to do a tune up on the back three.

Is the first ignition coil you took out considered the misfire 1 if it messes up?

Dropping the plug is pretty stupid, likely will result in atleast 1 of the 6 plugs having a crack in the insulator or other damage.... Buy a New spark plug socket and the socket will HOLD the plug so you don't need any magnet to remove( if u can't buy one , maybe u have a small piece of rubber hose that can be used to install the plugs) and also u can gently place the new spark plug into the cylinder "after" using a small amount of antiseize on the threads of the plug Only. Steel plug into an aluminium head without some antiseize is just asking for troubles down the road for the next guy changing them. dissimilar metals, electrolysis. They can and do basically weld together and often take the threads out of the head when removing or breaking off in the head.
Never seen you check the gap either and when people like to throw plugs around its even more likely they are out.
Those 10$ each iridium OE plugs don't require checking the gap but start dropping them and who knows. Too expensive to be careless.

Should have showed how to get to the back plugs, or show what elbow is needed to get the back plugs out. A proper spark plug remover has a rubber gasket so you don't need a magnet unless in an accidental dropped plug.

When my 2002 Maxima starts it runs for a mile or two or when motor heats up then stalls. After 10 mins it starts and drives another mile and stalls out
    Any answers why? Thanks.

The front 3 are easy. The back 3 are a pain in the f*****g a$$, especially if they are damn near welded in the hole. Get a telescope magnet!
