First, how moronic is it that the PSR/FFP soft deadline is in the middle of a transfer window? Second, why is PSR/FFP tied to income, which as we've seen with the Villa/Everton deal, can be finessed? It should be tied to debt, which is the real danger for a club's existence. Third, why has the loss limit not been adjusted for inflation in more than a decade?
I don't believe Newcastle are In trouble with PSR, but I think they're happy for everyone to believe they are. Our financial year hasn't finished, money is still coming in, and no one knows other than the owners what the books show. It was reported a couple of months back that a share was sold, which raised 37m to cover any PSR issue. No one even mentions that or the fact the club could do it again if needs be. The alternative is we're in trouble. A trillion dollar investment fund is going to look extremely silly. They can't balance the books of average size PL football club. Very very embarrassing! Heads would roll. If we've scope for sponsorship (which we have) and this has been allowed to happen, why has no one been sacked?
Not saying trouble, but from conversations we've all had, we, like others, are of the understanding a sale seems the most likely way out of a shortfall. Would be unbecoming to miss a target like this, especially all they've said. Only time will tell. - L
@GeordieJournos If there's a shortfall, we'll be in trouble as Masters and the PL are desperate to teach us a lesson. They never wanted the takeover to happen. I'm happy to wait to see. I'm not worried about any potential shortfall as I see the owners as proper business people who wouldn't take the risk with Masters and the PL watching every move waiting for a mistake. We'd be giving them the opportunity to make an example of us they've wanted since day one of the new ownership, show us who's boss, so to speak. Obviously, we'll see in the next few days if this is just a smokescreen to do other business on the quiet. Eddie is the master of saying a lot without giving anything of value away, I'd like to think people behind the scenes are the same. It never makes sense to show your hand early, but bluffing starts the minute you pick it up.

PSR should be means tested/adjusted for geographical location. Chelsea etc. selling real estate in West London raises more revenue proportionally than if the same property was sold in Newcastle/Liverpool.
