I'm clicking 'like' before watching the video already because I know yours are always good.
Thank you for the outstanding tutorial! It enabled me to create my own snow terrain. Your steps are informative and concise, and for me, the go-to instruction video. Thank you again!
Great to hear! Thank you.
Just viewed this video for the first time. I must say madam that your talents and techniques are quite impressive. It's the little things in a diorama that bring the whole scene to life and you have done well in showing how it's done.
Thanks Bob. Still a few more little things needed to really bring it to life.
@@KathyMillatt a story Within a story.
Excellent video. I'm from Florida and used to think your landscape and brickwork dioramas of the UK were beautiful but overly detailed. Then I started to watch Paul Whitewicke's videos on disused railway stations and Martin Zero's videos on Manchester and realized after seeing the scenery how absolutely spot on your detail work was. This snow video is another example of your prowess in the scale modeling arena....My hat is off to you!!! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Robert. I went to New England and realised I needed to add way more trees. Until you see a place in photos or person, it’s so easy to make incorrect assumptions.
Nice job Kathy 👍
Thanks!
Great video, Kathy!
Thanks.
Hi Kathy, when I was talking to you a coue of months back about Wales and where we both were etc etc i never realised I was talking to a TV star!!!!! I've only just seen "the great model railway challenge". Can I have your autograph please!!!!!! Ha ha. No its great I've just downloaded the first series and I'm watching now. Great stuff really well done.
Glad you love the show. It’s fun to do and great to meet so many talented modellers.
Hi Kathy, Very good could almost feel the cold, All the Best Brian 🤗
Thanks Brian.
That looks cool
Brilliant!
I love how this snow and ice has turned out. Really makes me want to make a snow layout. Perhaps a micro is coming in the future now. Alot of inspiration gained from this video. Clint from Leila Central.
So pleased I’ve inspired you!
Big fan k.
Thanks.
@@KathyMillatt the only reason I watch channel 5 at 8pm.. And yes.. I'm a modeler also lol
Wow Kathy! I’ve watched you forever but just subbed. This is really incredible! I’ve never seen this effect done by anyone else and you nailed it!
Thanks a lot. I do enjoy trying new things!
Thank you so much, Kathy. It's the one snow project I have never attempted on a large space. I've done so on very small miniature displays, omitting much of the details. You inspire me to try it again, but with actual details. BTW, I love the hoodies you wear... awesome. Much love. ❤👍
It looks like the snow where I live that has on the ground a few days. Mostly white but with a trace of dirt in it. It is very authentic looking and a neat technique.
Thank you John.
Well done on the TV show Kathy. Just watched it- you kept that quiet!
Thanks! It was great fun to do. It’s all over my IG and FB accounts but there’s no way to get it into YT.
Like always a great learning video thank you for showing how to do it
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for sharing another fantastic video. Cheers from Albany NY area.
Thanks.
I feel like I've heard the word microballoons a lot today ;)
It’s a good word!
Nice to see you around again kathy, although I probably wouldn't be using this particular technique, love watching your skills and I find I can adjust to my own needs looks brilliant xx eddy
Thanks Eddy. I keep finding dioramas to do with snow on but I’m resisting on the next one.
You're making me feel chilly - I'm not ready to let go of the warmth, yet! So glad you put in that second wavering bicycle wheel - as a year round cyclist, that is well observed! Perhaps this is what I need to spur me forward with the big hunk of Russian junk on my bench right now, that is destined for some worn & chipped whitewash effects.
Enjoy your Russian chunk on your work desk.
Modelers should wear dust masks more often. I recently splurged for a nicer one myself. I want to be doing what I enjoy for years to come. Take care of yourself Kathy. Thank you for another awesome video!
I realise that more and more but these micro balloons are deadly!
That looks amazing! Is that effect achievable in OO with the same products or would you recommend something finer?
I use the same snow on HO or OO and it works brilliantly.
Must have been the narrowboaters' lucky day, snow gives no sign that they lost footing traction while pushing the balance beam, slipped, and fell on their bum. ;D
They held on like grim death to the beam to avoid the ignominy of landing on their bottom...
Very helpful video and nice looking result! But I wonder if the micro balloons would need to be sealed in order to fix them in place. Do they completely bond with the snow paste?
The first layer sticks but the excess will come off. I find an extra couple of layers can be added if you want more depth using clear lacquer or something similar.
@@KathyMillatt ah that's what I thought. Thanks a lot!
Hello Kathy, appreciate your tutorials.... do you have ideas for making pahoehoes?
I know, not typical for railway modelling. Just curious of your thoughts.
I don’t even know what one is!
@@KathyMillatt It is a rope-y ground texture made by cooled lava. It can also look like spherical water ripples.
ignitedxblaze What scale are you modelling in?
@@KathyMillatt about 28mm! I work with war gaming models :)
ignitedxblaze I’d probably try a few options. There are some great ones already. If they don’t appeal, I’d be tempted to try hot glue to draw out lines. Otherwise an acrylic sealer in a tube. It would be fun to try.
Hi Kathy :) Can i ask you for program.. how to downsize yourself in video? :) Thanks
Hi. You need a green scene set up and there are plenty of people on RUclips who tell you about filming. I stick to modelling.
@@KathyMillatt thank you very much :)
this reminded me of michael bentines potty time

I did a video on their products earlier this year if you want to check that out.
@@KathyMillatt Thanks, I've missed that.
