Congrats to the both of you on completing the Richmonds! What an amazing stretch of the TA - very challenging at times and a real difference in landscapes / scenery as well. Great job!
Damn the before and after picture was a lot more striking than I thought it would be! Looks like the ranges beat you down a bit! Make sure to pile in that food haha.
Great achievement on the Richmond Ranges Kurt and the miles you've done even more. When I think about the person you were a year ago and who you are today I'd guess you have grown a lot as a person ? And making you all the better for it and for your family. Looking forward to hearing Richie's story too.
Done with one of the most technically challenging and long sections of the entire TA. Well done! So very pleased for you both. Frodo and Samwise ... your mission is every step closer. Making good! Doing well. I have to remind myself, you're already ahead of where you are. Is your shoulder getting sore? You know, you can always interchange me from shoulder to shoulder, and I don't really mind the occasional bush brush - passing by my face 😉👌 Shoulder sitting is such a balancing act. Onwaaard! ... 👣 👣
What an incredible accomplishment, That pizza at end looked delish mate. I tell yah youve been most inspiring for me throughout this hike, and Richie, It really amazes me how much of my country ive still to see. I cant wait to set off on my own walking adventurers after August. Stay blessed much love to you and your family.
Ah ha! The trail joins up with the Beebys track & Tophouse Rd! (That track didnt exist when I walked the Alpine route). Wondered why I was seeing less people walking (hitching) on the road up the Wairau Pass & more on Tophouse Rd, so now I know. Welcome to my home town, hope you enjoyed your stay 👋👋
Good to see you got through. That shortcut takes you down to the "highway", but the extra road walking is some of the worst you come across on TA. The road is narrow, climbs steeply, and has a guardrail that really confines you. Cars would just zip past if two happened to pass you simultaneously. On the other hand, the track up towards Beebys is beautiful, but it's a pity you didn't get the views. Sorry to say, I looked up along that ridge with Starveall and Rintoul from across the bay this afternoon, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Still, you will have good weather in the future. It doesn't look like mid-summer, but eventually, you will find it!

Thanks so much!
Gosh you can see you’ve lost weight in your face through the Richmond’s. Such an achievement and reasonably great weather through there

I’m trying!!

That was one of the best pizzas I ever had just simply because it celebrated the completion of the Richmonds!
@@freedom_on_the_trail + I love pizza and what better way to celebrate then with a simple yet delicious treat..have a blessed weekend mate.
Well done! You and Ritchie deserved those pizzas but I am not sure they were really a square meal!😀
😂😂 “See those round pizzas? They’re illegal now because TA hikers can’t get a square meal out of them”. New trail joke.

It was a fantastic place to rest.

We’ve had a string of clouded in summit views. Hoping to see some clarity in the future!
It shows what tp look out for in the wild.
Well done guys . Boy did that pizza look good
It was!!!!!!
The short cut trail was once the trail.straight down to the road
We’re glad we did the other. A neat experience.
