  • It's that time of year again, PA Deer Camp 2018 is here. Let's pack up the Jeep and head up to Wellsboro, Tioga County for; Pennsylvania Whitetail Deer Season 2018 - SNOW EDITION!
    Seems like it takes a long time to get here, then before you know it Thanksgiving is here and it's time to make the ride up to Camp.
    Grab a beverage, and a snack (which has a double meaning this trip), sit back and enjoy.
    Shawn and I started our ride up to Camp at about 6:30am on Black Friday, to enjoy the 3 days before the season starts. We had a ton of good food, some of which didn't turn out too well. Had two variety packs of 21st amendment beer, some Corona, and a pack of White Claw Black Cherry seltzer, along with two bourbons. Yes, we brought plenty of it home.
    Laughing and ball busting seem to reign supreme there this trip as a burnt brisket led to Cook being renamed to Snacks.
    Getting together with friends and relatives is what its all about, bagging a deer is a bonus for us, though sure, we do want to get one.
    WARNING: I didn't remove or bleep out the some of the language this year. But there really wasn't much of it that made it on to the film. It keeps it true to form, don't know many camps were a F-bombs aren't common.

    I moved to Michigan last year in order to get my family out of California. I retired from the Marines in 2015 at camp Pendleton so I was stuck in California for a fews years finishing school. However when I arrived in Michigan I started looking into Deer hunting and started checking out your videos. I am excited to say that I took my first Deer, a doe during Michigans liberty hunt. Your videos helped me get into the hunt. I will be out every year from now on God willing. Outstanding video and I wish you success in your following hunts.

    Watched this again tonight…my annual marathon with the Go Time Camp. Tonight I was accompanied by some Jamie’s on whiskey. We are 1 week ago from the eve of our Archery Season. These camp videos are unique to not other and allow us to have a deer camp experience at our finger tips any time a reprieve is needed. Thank you Tom for allowing us to come along with you. The camp cook failure and the brisket is always funny, but what stood out to me the most is when you said whatever deer you choose to harvest is a trophy. We need to be more supportive of other hunters success no matter the size of the deer. Looking forward to this seasons PA Deer camp and can’t wait to be in a Treestand myself in just a bit over a week!

    As everyone else, I checked almost daily since the season ended for your vids. Liked your talk on what makes a buck a trophy to the hunter. You can’t eat horns........ the smallest buck I’ve taken was the best hunting story I’ve ever experienced. Really, harvesting the animal is the cherry on top of the deer camp experience. I’ve sat in a stand many times and gotten wrapped up with watching what the buck or doe does as they feed and wander thru the area, and never pulled the trigger. Enjoying the Deer Camp and outdoor experience with guys you may only see for a few days every year and act and behave like you spend almost every day wIth them. My father passed away last month and I got more love and sympathy from those guys than from my closest friends and family. All my fellow campers tell me that the night before heading out to camp, they lay in bed as do I, sleepless as a kid on Christmas Eve.

    Hey guys! Great video as usual! Miss PA deer hunting so much. I am coming to you this year from Kabul, Afghanistan! Still live in NC and am looking forward to getting back to PA some day for the season! Until then I will continue to live vicariously through your camera and you guys! Was really pulling for the RIBS after the Brisket debacle (LOL)! When our group hunted in PA we also only hunted the first 2 days.

      whiterook85 camp cook took some heat - I’m sure you notice on your trips to Michigan the Midwest is very soft and sarcasm is lost on midwesterners I grew up in NYC and I miss the way the east coast just drives you into the ground when it’s your turn to take some shit

    • @thechairman7276
      @thechairman7276 5 лет назад +5

      Ddro3 hey it’s the chairman... listen “snacks” breaks my balls just as much as I do his.. we’ve been best friends for 30+ years and we are both 44... watchers I hope realize that we are sometimes intoxicated during the nights and we get out of hand... also he’s the camp cook and his brisket blew!!!! That’s why I bring pizzas up for the night I’m responsible for dinner... take care and thanks for watching.

    • @ddro3443
      @ddro3443 5 лет назад +1

      Michael Gary Dude- obviously- that’s how the east coast works- sooner or later it’s coming back at you. Now - 30 years of friendship allows you some latitude in being merciless and the cook clearly weighs more than the Hoover Dam- and you can’t utter the line “ it’s not about time, it’s about temperature” and fry 3 bills worth of red meat past the flash point for dead timber....and not take some shit.
      Great stuff

    I missed the stone, all of the seasons as well.
    I spent many many years trucking all over the Keystone and the Buckeye and the whole eastern seaboard from Miami to Bangor, Maine to California to Portland, Oregon, and back across .
    Stead of good good time trucking it up in Canada as well many of the provinces three or four anyway .
    I also heavily miss hunting with my buddies up north and fishing to .
    I moved back down to South Texas in 2009 after retiring from trucking, I’ve been back up a time or two in those neck of the woods. I almost moved back to West Virginia a year ago. .
    Who knows what life just got in the store lol .

    • @mikem7443
      @mikem7443 5 лет назад +1

      whiterook85 bunch of sticks in the mud! Deer camp isn’t about harvesting a buck! It’s about spending time with family/friends, fellowship, making memories, etc! Harvesting a deer is just the icing on the cake! You guys will never let Cook live down the time he turned premium brisket into beef jerky, that’s what it’s about!

    • @mikem7443
      @mikem7443 5 лет назад

      whiterook85 also, I’m the guy from twitter (same name) that you spoke with on your post about 450 bushmaster. Feel free to reach out if you ever have any questions. I live in a free state (Missouri) where hunting with ARs is legal, so I’ve built a few for deer hunting (6.8spc, 6.5grendel, 6.5 creedmoor, and 450bm) 450 is always my go to though.

    • @whiterook85

    • @whiterook85
      @whiterook85  5 лет назад

      Thanks, the law doesn't say anything about not using AR's, the game commission just added that in. So some folks said they may challenge it in court, but I don't want to find out. The Savage's seem to be holding their own this year. A few guys went to the .450BM and had some luck with them. Most of our shooting is close unless you're on a farm field.

Well, my bro in law and father in law each got a young buck at my place this Thanksgiving, a 6 pointer and a spike. It was thrilling, just like you described sharing in the adventure of Syntax getting his nice buck. Good meat for the freezer! Thanks for the camp videos. Fun stuff.

    Thanks Whiterook 85 and also all the guys for another great PA hunting video. I would like to congratulate Sintax77 on his fine Delaware buck. Proves that persistence pays off. Up in PA you guys didn't quite get the weather needed in the short two day hunt to see deer moving but went out anyways and that's hunting . Never heard the generator running much so it must be a lot quieter with the new enclosure set up. Good job. As for the brisket well imo that added some extra realism to the video as things in life do not always go as planned no matter how hard you try. I'm sure next time he would knock one out of the ball park. I paired the video with some Crown Royal Whisky this time and it was awesome . Thanks again for taking the time to put together such a super hunting video !

      Hello Ian, was happy I was with Shawn when he got that buck, something I will remember for a long long time. The generator enclosure is doing it's job. When that one goes we will get one of the super quiet ones, then you will never hear it. The brisket is a challenging piece of meat to cook, he tried. I bet he will try it again in the future. Thanks!!

    I enjoyed watching your deer camp video, I have so many great time memories of my Dad and I at the deer club here in Ga we had a trailer hooked up on 3,000 acres with 65 members. We always spent 2 weeks during Thanksgiving those bucks were in the rut and my Dad had 14 does hanging around his stand so we were able to bag some does and I got a 6 pointer. We hunted there for 20 yrs until the owner cut 2,000 acres of pines because they started getting pine Beetles which totally screwed up the hunting season. My Dad pasted away in 2015, I miss all the times we went fishing, camping and hunting and so many other adventures. I’m glad you and Shawn are having a great time 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing, enjoy and have a Great Friday !!! Danny

      Danny, I'm sure you shared many great memories and stories with your Dad there over the years. Sounds like it was an outstanding place to hunt. That many acres and swallow up 65 guys easily.

    This makes me miss deer camp at my Uncle's place up in SE Missouri. He died from cancer and shortly thereafter the property was sold and that was the end. He had a couple of old campers we slept in. We set up a huge old army tent and inside it we had a couple big screen tv's we watched football on, and a table full of liquor. I got my big 6 point on his property. I'll never forget it.

      Thanks Mark, I try to switch things up on the intros. Ones if these days I will run out of ideas. The brisket is an advanced piece of meat to cook right. He gave it a shot, the combo of rain and snow on the smoker, and IPA consumption made for "bad brisket" but a comical tine. We still had a great tine even with the weather.
