I don’t understand why are people even going into the ocean if the water is still very cold, and the weather forecast warned about strong rip currents. People who come to the beach , needs to act more responsibly for their safety . It is not rocket science. All of these drownings could have been prevented.
probably they get cramps from cold, that might be factor. yes locals would not swim/ maybe vistors are too use of their lakes and rivers. this is ocean nothing like it
That’s life. You assume the risk of potentially dying by something when you are born. Drowning, hit by car, defective products, murder. The list goes on.
This has always been the case with Far Rock Beach. The tides have claimed many lives but still one of the best beaches in NYC. I used to hang out alot every summer by Beach 108 😢🙏

Rockaway currents are strong out here it happens every summer you can’t go out too far it will get you fast I just Enjoy the boardwalk ppl from all places come out to this beach and get sucked away rip

I bet half of the people who've drowned in the ocean already this year couldn't even identify a rip current if they were in one. Smh. This whole situation is sad and unnecessary.

They need a divider(net) between beach and ocean. Also, add a line of floats; with handles. Incase they get pulled out, they could hang on to the floats.
It’s not even hot enough but sad this beach claims many lives every year plus with all this recent super moon activity I’m not surprised about the currents
15 years ago I got caught in a Rip tide in Outerbanks NC. I've since kept my promise never ever go back in to any ocean.
