About sometime before this fight he realize he is responsible for killing his brother (but there is more to it i wont spoil it) and has been avoiding the truth sub conciously not accepting ifrit as his eikon . Then now when confronted he face it finally
He didn’t know at first, then after wrestling with the fact that he was, he learns that the guy he _thought_ was Ifrit was still around and not someone he made up, so he continued to blame them instead since he showed up the first time Ifrit awakened. At least, that’s what I figured, I didn’t look too deeply into that part of the story watching vids.

This went from being Clive vs Clive to Godzilla vs Shin Godzilla real quick. And I enjoyed every minute of it when I did this section.
