which is why Texas and Florida were the only 2 southern states to refuse to adopt e-verify, they are HEAVILY dependent on undocumented in all aspects of their economy. Arizona tried this in 2009 and quickly regretted as they became the only border economy that actually SHRANK in GDP during the 2009-2012 recovery. Alabama also tried this and also shrank their economy. But neither of those two states are anywhere near as dependent on undocumented workers as the Florida agricultral industries and Florida hotel & restaurants. That's basically 2 of their 3 largest industries immediately gutted. Florida have over one million tourists coming wanting clean hotel rooms and packed restaurants are bursting with post covid tourists ready for the first no covid summer season. What an epic disaster this will be. And on the construction side the timing could not have been worse as well. Hurrican season has basically caused all of the insurance companies who haven't fled Florida to start requiring home owners replace their roofs to meet the new hurricane standards or they'll be dropped from their policies or face massive increases until all homes are up to code in Florida. Otherwise the insurance companies are taking on huge downside risks for their investors. That's NOT going to work. This new roof requirement will cause a giant surge of of demand for roofers at PRECISELY the moment when the state has the fewest number of roofing workers available in 20 years thanks to this law. And for thos who aren't aware, Florida is in the middle of a massive rental shortage for new apartments and condos. Those developers are now facing felony charges or let their projects sit stalled until they figure out what they can do. They'll find the workers but their profit margins will evaporate or they have to drastically increase the selling prices which buyers have ZERO apetite for now at 7% hsitorically rates. New inventories are already piling up before this and they cant let those unsold properties sit on their books for 60 or 90 days or they violate the investor agreements. This idiotic law may well trigger the housing crash. Won't be long before Trump seizes on all this Tweeting out #RecallRon

Lets set one thing straight - this is not an anti-immigration law at all, it is a way to ensure employers are hiring those authorized to legally work in the U.S. which helps Americans in many ways including making more jobs available AND most importantly reduces identity theft by those who will steal your information and sell it to others who will work under someone elses name, drive. take out loans and credit often leaving the victim of the identity theft unaware until they get a major bill or are denied credit because of this.
Verifying someone is who they say they are, that they are here lawfully, that they are allowed to work in the U.S. legally is not Anti-Immigration it is simply good hiring practices.
