Born and raised in SD. Great video. I agree 110% percent about how expensive it is. I will admit, you get what you pay for. Weather is amazing, job opportunity is great, there is also so much diversity on culture and by wealth. Everyone has a place of welcome here. The opportunities are grand with so many colleges here in this fine ass city. It’s just how you want to take your life to the next level each and every time. If you are into photography, the open front to hidden gems of places you can capture! We have big military bases and it’s not far from other cities at all! Road trips are beautiful and so are staycations. The food, let’s just say the best melting pot of places you can get. You name it, we have just about every cultured cuisine here! Wishing you the best if you decide to work it out in SD!

I’m moving there in the next few months. I know you are 100% right about having to know somebody in San Diego to make moves because I’ve tried to apply to Jobs there while I’m still out of state and heard nothing but crickets back. Same with my friend. We were in the same boat and then suddenly one of the girls she was in a sorority with who lives in San Diego hit her up to come interview at the law firm she works at there. Suddenly she had a job that fast.
If you know somebody out there you’ll be fine. If not you better have your money together.

I love San Diego! Beautiful city. I go every single year. I want to move and settle down there. It’s expensive but so is LA and NYC. I’m from NYC, and the cost of living is ridiculous. If I’m gonna pay an arm and a leg to live, I want some perks like: beautiful scenery, nature, amazing weather, beautiful beaches, nice people, good food, etc. All NYC has is good food.

Recently moved out of SD and just to add: It's more diverse the farther south you go. Downtown is pretty mixed, and everything south is more black and Latino. "East county" is all white, and less educated the farther you go. "North county" is white and Asian and where all the money is. On the coast is where you have all the frat bros, hippies, yuppies, tourism and commerce. People are friendly and they drive well, but there is a lot of narcissism and vanity that makes it feel like there isn't a sense of community there. As you said downtown is the only place to really hang out, as the rest of the metro is sprawling suburbia. Lots of people love it, but it's definitely not for everyone.

I’m not going to lie .. I’m running from the stupid frizzing weather of the east! I’m not looking to live in downtown SD at all. I’m a school social worker, bilingual and in my 40s . I’m not kidding you, if I get a job at least an hour from Central SD I’ll move tomorrow ! I’m saving and saving and would not stop until I leave NYC. As far as cost of life I think is most difficult for people that move to SD from smalls towns or cities.

I live on the island of Kauai. I am moving to SD next month. I just spent a few days in SD looking for housing for me my two daughters and my wife. It’s all relative. During my three days in SD I felt like I was living in a clearance sell. Everything is so much cheaper than kauai, well other than housing. Housing is comparable to Hawaii but you get a much nicer place for the money in SD. The food in SD is 50-75% cheaper than kauai....
If you want something bad enough you make it happen. I see a lot of negative comments about how expensive it is, that’s just a poverty or lack mindset. I couldn’t afford kauai by any means when I moved here 3 years ago and I struggled for the first 2and 1/2, but I stayed and pushed through and now I’ve hustled my way to easy living in paradise, so that means, on to the next challenge. Comfort is the enemy of growth and greatness, it’s a sign that it’s time to push yourself. I cannot wait to get to San Diego and dominate that place too! Anything is possible for those of us that have the wear with all to make it happen. Thanks for the video my man, hopefully I run into you when I get there .... peace and love bruh.....

I'n born and raised in California. I should've paid more attention to Spanish class in 7th-8th grades. I discovered I had learned enough to get in trouble in a Tijuana bar. My main fast food is Mexican and I have the sweetest lady a few doors down and we speak Spanish in passing. I'm living west of the freeway east of the railroad tracks, but only about 1,500 feet from one of the top 5 beaches in the US. Gas prices today are about $3.43 for Regular. California has 2 types of gas, the Summer blend being more expensive. Freeway traffic depends on time of day and direction of flow. I like to get off the freeway and drive the coast when I'm not in any hurry. San Diego County is in a Mediterranean climate and has beaches, inland valleys, foothills, pine tree topped mountains and deserts. On the same day you can swim, surf, dive in the ocean, go hiking or snow skiing in the mountains or play in the desert sands. My best days for grocery shopping are Saturday or Sunday before 10 a.m. or Wednesday or Thursdays.

I left in 2007. I was making close to 3000 k a month after tax, but was getting tired of wasting money in San Diego. The place is way too over taxed, rent is out of control. I would rather make less and enjoy more of what I have than have very little leftover to do anything with.

Cost of living is more here but the pay is a lot more. Make sure you have a good job lined up before moving out here or it will be rough. As far as the traffic goes, I feel like people are bigger jerks now on the road but there's a lot more people moving here from other states too. We are much more relaxed here probably because there's a ton to do an the weather is great!

I just recently moved back to San Diego I love San Diego.❤ I think most of the people that live in San Diego have one thing in common they all love the ocean🌊 It doesn't matter if you're swimming, surfing, selling or fishing the majority of people that live in San Diego go to the beach on a regular basis. That's why everyone's so friendly nice & happy. And that's exactly why I moved back to SD because I love the water I love to be at the beach in the ocean🌊 I think everyone is different depending on personal preference because if I had a choice to go to a party or the beach I would choose the beach any day but that's just my preference.

Do not move here unless you have financial security and a solid job, or else your life will suck and pretty much consist of working two jobs so you can afford rent and living expenses. Housing And rent costs here are insane and they're not going to go anywhere but up. Just be prepared. It's no joke

Welcome to san diego bro. I went to school in brunswick georgia when my dad was stationed their and joined the navy after high school. Made lots of friends, but never came back there. I was lucky enough to settle and bought a house when the housing was way down. Loved the weather, fishing, golf, varieties of ethnic restaurant and more. You are right about how expensive san diego is and if both working, must have a combine earnings over one hundred thousand. The weather average here is about 70 degrees year round. The food prices still affordable and lots of places giving food stuff free. Anyway, just the cost of leaving here will scare lots of folks who wants to relocate here. So plan ahead and enjoy life. Gox bless.

I moved from northern VA to SD and I agree that it helps ALOT if you have someone out in SD who is willing to let you live with them for a few months until you get on your feet. Palm trees, beautiful beaches, sunshine, good weed, pretty women comes no affordable housing options, high credit score standards, a very competitive job market, high gas prices, and depending on where you live, homeless people issues. If you're a 2nd ammendment enthusiast, forget about it. Make sure your money is up or you're planning on living with three other people who hold jobs and can contribute when you move here.

Been here in SD for 15 years. It’s by far the most beautiful city and best weather. But it’s expensive. I make 120K and have a company car and I just don’t feel secure here. A 1 bedroom apartment is 1500 a month minimum. Foods more, gas is more, waters more, taxes are higher. If you got the money, no better place. If you want to buy a house and have security...not the best option. I’m finally leaving, moving to Utah. Many of the companies in Cali are leaving as well because it’s too expensive to operate. In my opinion the state is in for major issues.

If san diego was the cost of ATL then it would be over populated. Supply and demand. Everyone wants Cali (highest pppulated state 3-5x more than other state) at almost 40mill, and san diego is #2 highest polulated city in cali. Just have to grind harder
