    Your lucky as the future goalies are truly luck as Mr Valana is giving this information to them for free. He truly a great goalie coach as is your other one. Future goalies should listen as they may not be able to afford a goalie coach. I as pass this information to an ex-goalie now coach to his son and many other kids. Thank Trav and Mr Valana. Keep up the great work!! 💚💚💚🇨🇦

    I have always wondered why you don’t take his advice about the paddle of your stick. Especially in the summer. Like shave 1 to the length YOU like - probably the shortest - and then 3 sticks up from there. Use all 3 in a shortest to tallest progression - watch the videos - and see what looks best. BUT always just showing up with the same size paddle - you eliminate the option of video review of different lengths, and gaining that feel - IMO. But I’m just an old Jr B goalie - so the game has changed since my time, so more just curious now.

    • @trav4oilers
      @trav4oilers  Год назад +2

      I've used every single paddle length from 23-27, shaved and not shaved and what I use currently is the best version. Maybe I'll bring footage from the achieves and turn it into a video but right now is what works best for my blocker.

    I agree with Pasco about that shorter shaft. Are you going to adjust the stick length, now?

    • @trav4oilers
      @trav4oilers  Год назад +1

      We disagreee on the shaft heavily. I've experimented with all shapes and sizes. 27" shaved the way that it currently is was the ultimate winner and it's the tallest stick they make these day because it made such a difference to my blocker.

    • @timmie2k3
      @timmie2k3 11 месяцев назад

      @@trav4oilers I agree with him about the stick positioning and how it's compromising your stance which are likely a bigger issues than the blocker issue. Tbh, I'd like to see you use an unmodified stick for a bit and see the overall change. I feel like you started doing that before having higher level coaching so you weren't necessarily aware of how it was affecting other aspects of your game.

    • @keithbourbon4958
      @keithbourbon4958 4 месяца назад

      Definitely disagree. We seal the ice with our pads. The stick is used to direct pucks away or to scoop in rebounds. The stick is covering the five hole half way into the butterfly. So in my opinion i don't think it's necessary to lug around a massive paddle.

    Damn, he IS good...
    I played before the en masse change to butterfly, but a lot of what he shared still applied to teaching stand-up: using the head to minimize overcommitment to east-west body movement, blocker/glove positioning, paddle length, placing the stick away from your feet... I can see why you hold Pasco in such high regard.

    I always laugh when he gives you hell about that short shaved down paddle, I feel like every time youre on the ice with him he does lol. Have you tried something completely different like a standard non shaved 27? I was using a short 25 for a long time and I'm a shorter guy myself so I started feeling like Potvin a little with my arms like he explained. I went to a bigger paddle and I really felt it quieted down my arms a bit and at the same time put my back in a better position and free'd up my arms at the same time.
    Might be worth a shot just to see what it does for you even if you only try it for a skate. I was amazed at how much better it felt.
