Just realised I was giving the incorrect number of coil turns round the 40mm former. I ended up with 40 coils, using 1mm copper wire which gave me 56.7uh (ish)
Cracking build Tappy. Be interesting see what results you get from this one. The Cobweb is up.. DX10 on route from Lamco. Should be back recording next week. Hope to work you on the bands soon buddy. 73, M7CAX
@@2e1taphamlife It arrived in under 24 hours mate, well packaged and in fantastic condition. Will be doing a bit of testing over the weekend, I might need some other goodies to get setup for the competitions.
Of course, I will upload an update shortly. I have a 1.6 across the whole voice section, dipping to 1.2 in the data region. So if anything it's a bit long. However given the location of the loop ( just above the shack ) it was never going to give me a true "in open space" swr. It's all about making the antenna that works for you, within the limitations of your garden etc The video is not an educational one, it's my build. To be honest I didn't include the whole footage of testing, as the vid was dragging on too long anyway. 73 cheers n beers
@@2e1taphamlife Since the tuner is on for this test, why doesn't the ic-7300 tune it to 1:1? It is well within the 3:1 capability of the built-in tuner.
With the tuner ON and not re-tuned, how are the SWR results relevant? After showing the SWRs you said the antenna is too long but the SWRs show it is too short. The results with the tuner OFF may actually show that, Did you already know the SWRs were skewed at the time you filmed and didn't let anyone know? The test results, the conclusion about SWRs, we are only misguided by the video. @@2e1taphamlife

what wire did you use to make the 2:1 balun? I have a FT240-43 balun, I wonder about the turns as well. I can't get to get it right.
Have you a schematic for this antenna?
can you test the SWR with the tuner off so you get a true reading
Thanks

@@aarongriffin81 I had not retuned mate, so has not pulled it to 1.1.
Ps watch the delta loop update
