Cleanliness is a part of the business. These kinds of places don’t want to do something, if it doesn’t equate to making money. A clean restaurant is a cost of doing business. It’s impressive how many places fail to understand that. Draft beer kind of scares me in a lot of places. Soda guns too. They are so easy to neglect until the day a long string of biological sludge comes out of them. Liquor and bottled only.
I work at a fast food chain with a bunch of highschoolers, but surprisingly, they're not as careless as I'd expected. I guess having your parents eat the food you're making is a good way of enforcing cleanliness
They should be charged extra for more inspection services so the authorities can inspect more consistently. It's heartbreaking for them to keep doing same evil stuff without any change
The fact that the report had such a specific number of roach/rodent droppings….tells me that inspectors probably have a tally-counter, which tells me that stuff like this is probably more common than we think.
I'm surprised the owners haven't tried to file a restraining order. It's probably because they are breaking the law with some of their violations. They can't file a restraining order cuz it will risk them getting arrested as well
0:19 seconds in you can see they trespassed on private property. Open door has a sign posted. You can not just walk in someone’s back door when you’re not invited, and there is a sign post no trespassing. I’m glad they got handled out like that, and I hope this restaurant gets cleaned up or shut down. No bias here: Reporters need to adhere to the law as well. Restaurant: Close it down or clean it up.
I agree, it's crazy how in some of these dirty dining things they will barge in or harass the employees and owner, and not leave when told too. Just because someone had health violations doesent mean you can run around in the kitchen, that in itself is unhygienic as people not wearing hair nets, gloves, and carrying around recording stuff to be walking around the kitchen
Finally a comment that describes what I'm thinking. This news station is harassing these people. If it's unsanitary then let the inspectors shut it down. These news reporters are acting as if they're the inspectors and just prance around like they own the place. Don't agree with the restaurants hygienic practices, but the level of harassment these news reporters have really ticks me off.
@@brandonblanco8379 This philosophy is dangerous. Hypothetically it means there are no rules... that gets very messy very quickly. It was absolutely trespassing, they are not qualified... nor have the right. Good intentions do not give a free pass to clear cut law. I think you’re sentiment is good, you’re just flat wrong in regard to the legality. Extend this to your home, I assume you would appreciate laws being acknowledged. Slippery slope. Nobody feels bad for the restaurant here. Hope the day is treating you well.
Finally someone with common sense. I bet half the people siding with the news company would react differently if they were not looking their best because they weren’t expecting a news company to suddenly show up and shove a camera in their face 🙄
All food establishments should undertake a hygiene standards every 8-10 weeks. 3 stripes bad enough to warrant closure should be made permanent by law.
There is a cultural clutch here. In China, people tend to find and deal with their own problems, don’t like to accuse other people’s problems, and definitely don’t like an outsider to finger point at them. In America, people usually don’t deal with their own problems, but instead always finger point to other people’s problems. In this case, the Chinese owner had zero tolerance towards finger pointing.
Andres Cruz Very well said. All immigrants to USA needs to adapt to American culture. Exactly. Now get out there and take out all the hijabs, disallow all the mosques. They are not American culture either. Can’t do that, but absolutely can correct Chinese culture, right?
Why do these people not look at it like, "Hey, this is my LIVELIHOOD, I should work to make sure that everything is perfect!" Instead, they act like they just don't care if a customer dies of food poisoning.
I work for a company that has their own “deep clean department,” and let me tell you, we make sure to live by the standard the company enforces. I’m proud to work for that company; knowing that our customers deserve the best. :D
My family use to eat at that buffet back then, but one day my dad picked me and my sister up from school and we decided to go there. Right when got our food and sat down, there was a 2 roaches next to my sister. My dad was furious and started to complain the staff, right when we were leaving they had the audacity to tell us we had to pay for our food.
Thats crazy, I was going to comment a similar experience at a Chinese buffet (although this one was near Cleveland). I bit into an eclair and it was moldy on the inside, and the rude lady still made me pay.
@QuIgYx Even if that was true. Every country has delicacies ie: jellyfish, blowfish, octopus, etc. Do you know what is in the fast food people eat everyday. Lookup ingredients of McDonald's milkshake vs a homemade milkshake. Heck, we have cricket farms to make into a sustainable food.
@QuIgYx Do you have any proof/article/test that supports that. It is true that In China it was a thing b/c of the scarcity of food. Even if its true, it is unethical to say all Chinese restaurants. Also most american companies will follow the fda guidelines which may not require them to list certain things or mininal amount of feces or additives. Like some restaurants, cleaning may be lacking. American restaurants can get shut down for the same reasons as asian restaurants. This is why i think its unethical to spread unsubstantiated info

Inspections are done but they give the staff a heads up "Hey I'm coming to Inspect" and then management tells the staff to keep everything clean and neat that day. After that the same old continues. Laziness, negligence, and so on. A way to keep restaurants on their toes is to have Inspections often and randomly, no heads-up calls especially if they'll only be cleaned when Inspection comes by.
When you get cited for all these violations, wouldn't you want to clean up your act so you can stay in business ? How difficult is it to keep your place clean and safe for customers?
According to the comments I've read thus far, very. Sounds like a lot of work and a lot of restaurant owners don't want to spend the time and the cost and would rather cut corners.
The one that shocks me the most is the Steak N Shake, like you know that place is beyond dirty, it's a huge chain with lawyers and they still are not open, no telling what's actually wrong with that place.
Open kitchens are usually clean as customers can see what’s going on in there. Some business owners really care about cleanliness and food safety. I’d say 50/50 chance a place is clean, you just gotta know where to go and what the staff and owners are like

This is why I cook my own home food
Amen ...God bless you

@@raymondcote2414 um ok lol
If you get sick don’t ask why
The fact that the report had such a specific number of roach/rodent droppings….tells me that inspectors probably have a tally-counter, which tells me that stuff like this is probably more common than we think.
Don't tell me you go to a restaurant expecting not to find SOMETHING in your food...
It is very common.
I'm surprised the owners haven't tried to file a restraining order. It's probably because they are breaking the law with some of their violations. They can't file a restraining order cuz it will risk them getting arrested as well
U just answered ur own question
They should be shut down and never open again
I'll never eat at a Chinese buffet.

@@frauleinhohenzollern no lie my pallette is racist. I'll never eat at an Indian buffet either.
Whats the issue with "tresspassing." That is not trespassing, it is our interest to see which restaurants are unsanitary.

I like how the China Buffet put more effort in hiding their mess rather than actually fixing it.

Why do these people not look at it like, "Hey, this is my LIVELIHOOD, I should work to make sure that everything is perfect!" Instead, they act like they just don't care if a customer dies of food poisoning.

@QuIgYx I ask that YOU not spread this poisonous information to the other uninformed. 😇
@QuIgYx Could you elaborate on 'fake' meat. B/c shopping in chinatown is a way different experience than your local shop.

I've worked in the kitchens industry and let me tell you all a few things.
Yes. Food safety inspections should be done random and often without notice to catch violations that could be hidden.
Not at my restaurant. Our inspector came twice a year and it was always random, and she was one of them who basically wore a white glove 😑.
The news crew should be charged with harassment.
Can we appreciate the fact some dude actually counted the amount of mouse droppings be found
I've had to do it myself. It sucks and it wastes your time but it's necessary for the legal paperwork.

Nahhhh.. I worked for this Indian man in his sandwich shop. Cleanest store I’ve ever worked in my life and I’ve worked many, many food jobs.
Open kitchens are usually clean as customers can see what’s going on in there. Some business owners really care about cleanliness and food safety. I’d say 50/50 chance a place is clean, you just gotta know where to go and what the staff and owners are like
This has me in tears 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 them rushing the people out or shooing them away has me weak 😂😂😂

Pov: you fell down the rabbit hole in this story on this restaurant after RUclips recommended it to you.
When the signs of a restaurant are that faded, I think twice about entering.
When people make complaints, or when investigators investigate - about slick scams, misleading claims, questionable practices, and maddening customer service, they all want one thing: *ANSWERS.* And they expect the most from those responsible or in control of the problem. But they don't always want to talk. And that's considered the Sin of Silence.
