- We are building our own house in Norway!
In 2018 we bought a plot in Oslo and we are now starting the construction of our house. Since we are both architects we have designed everything ourselves.

We are always complaining about Portuguese bureaucracy. It doesn't seem any better in Norway.
Hahahhahaha I don’t want to thing how much more time this would take if it was in Portugal 😅😉 but yes, there bureaucracy problems everywhere

Is it very difficult to buy / build houses in Norway when someone doesn’t speak fluently Norwegian? Or is this no problem? 😊
In Oslo I think it is difficult for everyone! Even for Norwegians. The whole process of buying a house is expensive, can be long and is very different from other countries. Here you have to go to a biding and fight for the house/apartment, if someone else offers more money then you loose the house. Plus, there are a lot of people wanting to buy and not enough homes on the market. 😰
A house... in Oslo of all places? Oh I can see the millions fly away... millions upon millions! On the other hand, it's probably going to be worth a river of cash if you ever happen to sell it - and instead of dropping money into a bottomless pit forever (which is what you're doing when renting), you are practically saving most of them. Are you going to literally build the house yourselves, or are you hiring contractors?
