i moved country partly due to how the food system was, most things was imported and it was almost impossible to buy from local farmers, and now i get most my foods at local farmers markets, everything except grains
We are lucky in Boston, USA (and the whole New England region) to have a robust local farmer community with farmer’s markets in every town. Together with our small urban vegetable, fruit and herb garden, there is no need to buy any fruits and vegetables from the supermarkets (except stuff that doesn’t grow here which we are learning to live without). On top of it we have space to plant native pollinator plants.
