The crenellations are the "toothy" bits on the outer edge of a fortified castle wall. The individual parts are the merlons and the the gaps in between them. The crenellations give better cover to the defenders of a castle or city from enemy archers and siege engines
Also this is how I always built my fallout 4 settlements: adding clutter and junk items on shelves and such, making it seem like people actively live there. Definitely going to get this mod

Riverwood looks more immersive, thats a fact. But sadly a more immersive shanty town. There's trash everywhere, the blacksmith is an uncompromising alcoholic, and the Applebee's is run by a harpy. I grew up in New Orleans, and Riverwood has the distinct blueprint of a City That Care Forgot.
The new Solitude looks absolutely impressive. But it still feels like every other city in Skyrim: dead. They're supposed to be these vast cities with loads of houses and commerce and stuff, but there are just so few people. And I know this is set in a very different time, but 60 people living in the capital of the "state" is never going to feel right to me. I mean I live near cologne in Germany and a thousand years ago it already had 50.000 to 100.000 citizens. This game is over 10 years old now, but modern hardware could easily handle maybe at least 200 NPCs in a city.
Daaamn, Another Solitude is impressive. Looks soooo good but unfortunately, I can't use it...I'm already using a combination of the Great city mod, JK Skyrim and Better City Entrances. Come to think of it, I can't use all three of the mods you're showing today due to my mod combo, lol....I like all three mods but like I said, "Another Solitude" looks reeeaaal sexy to me...If only all of those houses were made available to us. I'd be the Greatest Slum Lord in Skyrim....

Btw crenellation is, according to wiktionary, "A pattern along the top of a parapet (fortified wall), most often in the form of multiple, regular, rectangular spaces in the top of the wall, through which arrows or other weaponry may be shot, especially as used in medieval European architecture."
Fortified Whiterun and Another Solitude are especially great I think because they are compatible with so many other mods. Also more schools in Skyrim would make for a great mod actually haha

I chose solitude remake over another solitude I like the lore friendly type but another solitude was so much fun fro the new way to see the capital
