Butler County resident fighting to keep Verizon from installing cell phone tower near property

A Butler County man says Verizon wants to build a cell phone tower just steps away from his front door. He's trying to stop them. KDKA-TV's Meghan Schiller reports.

This is a typical problem. People want cell phone service, they want natural gas, they want propane, people want gasoline brought to them via a pipeline, they want electricity. People want paved roads and paved driveways, people want all of the things that make life easier for all of us but they don't want them anywhere near where they live. He doesn't own the land. I recommend he go buy the land off of the property owner and then he can control what happens to it. The cell phone tower is not being built out of spite, it's being built because that is exactly the best spot for it based on what land is available. I sympathize with the man, I suspect that the property across the street once was part of that farm. When this man is no longer on this earth, the new owners of the property may very well sell it for a housing development. Having been in the real estate business, it's amazing what people think is going to happen to their land and what really happens to it. Follow the money.
