  • In this episode I am finally arriving in Panama City, after a 3 day border crossing from Colombia over sea! The problem is.. my motorcycle is not quite 'legal' in the country yet, as I haven't got a temporary import permit yet. Customs in Colón is slow and they require lots of paperwork and I've got 1,5 hours to get it done. The race against the clock begun!

Hi Noraly, when you want to cross to Costa Rica, there are 3 border options (Sixaola, Rio Sereno and Paso Canoas), depending on which part of Panamá you come, you can take any of them, but Paso Canoas is the busiest one, since is part of the Panamerican Road and lot of trucks line up to enter. My go to option is always Rio Sereno with the only drawback that they usually close earlier (3pm Costa Rica, 4pm Panamá) while Paso Canoas close around 10pm.
Your videos are always engaging keep it up! :D

I don't know where you get your patience from Noraly, but it has put you in good stead many times, this being the latest example. The line "They haven't met me" that was hilarious. Then as you finally exited the industrial park for the last time, and watching you almost go for it between those Trucks/lorries, I was like 'wait for it... and go". Hope Alaska was safely locked up outside that place you stayed at in PC.

I've been enjoying your videos. Many years ago I grew up in the Panama Canal Zone in a little town by Colon. Back then it was literally like paradise (from a child's perspective especially). The roads and infrastructure were as advanced as any country in the world, perhaps even the best. The beauty was astounding. You would not have been in such a hurry to get to Panama City. Best of luck on your continued travels!

Well done Noraly, what an epic endeavour to get.yourself and Alaska through the Darian Gap. It made my stomping grounds back in Southern Africa look tame by comparison. You also provoked my curiosity about the Gap, and a bit of research helped me grasp the enormity of your challenge. You taught me that sometimes one just has to have some faith in one's fellow man. A big shout out to that lovely "solid" family who took such good care of you. I wish we could see the look on their faces of the officials who totally underestimated your tenacity! 😂 P.S. it was really interesting to see the parallel with Ran Sailing who also ran the same customs gauntlet to get to their sailingboat to and through Panama Canal.
Please continue to take care, and enjoy safe travels and many more adventures.
Lots of love and cheering from little ol' NZ.

Yes...I remember when Noraly's riding skills were not as refined as they are now, especially in deep sand. To her great credit, though, she was always willing to show her foibles and mistakes right alongside her accomplishments. She shows courage in many ways, not the least of which is daring to go into some really sketchy areas as she did in these last few videos. And she ain't done yet!

I was in Panama for about 10 days back in 2016. My group spent the two weekends in Panama City for fun then traveled to Penoneme to do volunteer service work. Many of my friends volunteered at an orphanage or prison hospital (they were nurses). I spent my time in two national forests taking pictures that would be used in their tourism brochures. The people of Panama are so nice and hospitable.
