Oooooo, this could come in quite handy for those harsh winters up north…

These things are not as hot as you would think or pre expect by the way the ads read or how nifty they look. First off in -20C the temp of the device barely gets to +10. If you want to replace department store "hand/foot warmers" well spoiler alert it won't. I purchased since the winter of 2020 until now 5 different electric hand warmers. Various sizes......they work not bad as backup battery chargers(just dont over charge them.....by this I mean dont plug one in sometime before bedtime and leave it plugged in until you wake up. 2 of mine never turned back on again...i never tried with the other 3.)....these are far too bulky to slide into the back or palm side of a glove or mitten and expect to have any useful operation of that hand, plus it now has created an opening at the wrist for more of the cold air you are so busy trying to keep away from your skin to enter with ease.....if you haven't already pondered the use in a boot or whatever footwear I'll save you the trouble.....it's worse...waaayyyy worse. Same with jean pockets or outer jacket pockets.....that aluminium case it's so conveniently housed in is a giant heatsink ..ya fantastic however when it comes in contact with any cool or cold or less temps surroundings it gives its energy faster thus making the unit work harder to maintain a preset setting thus draining the batter faster(cold temps do this as well so if you have it turned off and in a backpack without some sort of insulating barrier to the elements this will also drain the batteries and eventually shorten the lifespan.
I'll end with a bit of a positive note. With my experiences I found by fluke that having the unit on a two led heat setting and placed in and inside jacket pocket while charging my phone or just in the same enclosure it would work as a sacrificial lamb... .while keeping my more expensive and useful cell phone from icing up and causing battery failures or condensation build up over time in the case...causing failure. Impulse buys can be fun and momentarily rewarding but the high diminishes in nanoseconds when functionality, efficiency, cost of a run of the mill product and above all else the price(if you could honestly bill for it....well theoretically we all do,it just ends up in the form of a personal emotional blow)of time and energy directly or indirectly wasted on a thing.....namaste 🕉☮♾
