I am an AWA subscriber and got your film link from Paul. I watched the whole film and I related to every incident in some way.. I started crying hard because those scenes such as in the convenience store and getting confused, and how hard it is to get out of the house to go just about anywhere, the outside world being so jarring with lights, noises, people crowding, traffick, so utterly triggering, the failed job interviews, getting handcuffed and put in a state trooper car because of a traffic ticket I forgot to pay because I didn't have the money, etc etc etc and a LOT more than all that 😢 I wasn't sure if I could watch the whole movie but I wanted to try and I got to finish because I listened to the interview between you and Paul and it let me know that it wasn't a horrible tragic ending, which I am very glad, because I have had countless traumatic events over my 68 years. I think, after having watched your film, that I should think of myself as a super hero that I have survived and made it through life to this point, and I still prefer being neurodivergent/ASD. I work on myself one day at a time and I also live with my 15 year old autistic grandson who I have tried to be very supportive since he was born and my daughter and I found out he was aspie when he was 3. I finally told my daughter about myself and most of the time she is pretty accepting. So it's good to see the ending as it was, that being autistic is difficult and challenging, but we have our strong points that NT people don't. A LOT 😊 it's an ongoing journey... Thank you for making the film and everyone who made it happen. All the best from East Texas. Bless you all..
@@nee-na6874 Blessings to you from Sussex UK a fellow aspie.. thank you for being present & supportive for your grandson, what a difference that make to his whole life.. & bravo you for persevering & surviving.. thank you for saying how hard you find it to get out of the house to go just about anywhere, I am the same, & grateful to hear that you experience that too.. I've ended up with burnout & health mess, no career nor marriage nor kids, & couldn't figure out why til diagnosed aged 48 & been learning since.. as you say, it's an ongoing journey.. thank you for your sharing .. thank you for being ..& I also still prefer being ND too tho it often feels hard.
Thank you so much for watching the film and for your comment. This is the reason we made the film to reach audiences and to spread the message of how life can be with autism so I’m very glad this as responded with you! And people within the neurodiverse community much ❤
Thank god Steven wasn’t attacked (I wouldn’t have been able to cope), I’ve been moved by your excellent production as it is. I look forward to further work from you and the team.
Thanks for the warning at the beginning, I was triggered not only by the assault scene on the woman, but the police scene. A huge thanks for the hope you gave by the witness who saved him; I was in a meltdown when it came just in time 😢. Loved the film, so related to his life. I heard about it on the AwA channel.
So much to relate to here, particularly the grating and ramping up of anxiety with the conversation in the room after a huge disappointment and the confusion and embarrassment in the corner shop. There’s so much here that could be expanded upon and I really got a sense of a Shane Meadows style movie in the making. Careful use of music, and natural, realistic dialogue. You have huge talent!
ThankU to Paul for recommending & to you both for the interview with you, & thank you all involved in making this ..& looking forward to seeing how it evolves & expands 🎉❤😊
Rick ~ while speaking with Paul you said about requiring funding for the feature-length version ... Please contact Simon Squibb.."What's your Dream"? --His book is called that, cheerful yellow cover. He does short videos eg on RUclips, he goes out & about asking people if they have a dream etc, & then if it fits he offers practical & mentorship help.. so genuine 🙏😊
@@barkfilms6242 yayyy glad you know who I mean.. good luck 🤞🙏..& thank you so much for making the film - thank you anyway, but extra-ly as I'm a 'late diagnosed' (aged 48, 7 years ago) female autistic & adhd, it was such a relief to understand myself better, & it's an interesting journey, amongst NTs, & other NDs.. so much is subtle, but nonetheless significant & often confusing. Love & Gratitude & Compliments to you all 😘🤗✨
so real, I could feel his anxiety whenever he had to interact with people. people always think they know better what is good for you, but giving you a job is not on their list apparently I'm torn between desire to live on my own, and to still live with mom, and have it easier to manage home, at a price of her endless nagging. But I suppose it's moot question, since it all depends on having a job, and I can't get it without help I heard about movie from AWA Paul as well, like some of others
Thanks for watching yes without opportunity people are not give the chance to prove themselves..Im glad the film is resonating with people in this way 😊
@@barkfilms6242 I got my current job - night-shift restocking shelves in a supermarket - because of regular customer from my previous workplace. supermarket as well, he turned out to be manager at my current supermarket, and when he spotted my application, he told recruiter to hire me, that I'm a hard worker
Watching on Paul's recommendation. I agree with him, this should be a series. It evoked several emotions. I really hope you get funding to do more of this, it's important work. All the best from South Africa
@barkfilms6242 development of the chararcters while displaying how ASD is different for everyone. Perhaps a continuing storyline for Steve (and simultaneous back story developing each character).
That's literally how society treats us. Except there's never any good neighbor like in the end. And cops would never apologize, at least not in USA - they'd most likely double down and then also assault you.
