I just did this race myself but with the lotus race car and a mix of AI wow only set it to 10 laps and got taken out on the 5th in a big ass mess of a crash. So much fun still. Thank you for the vid and all the info! Keep it up!!
Dave, my family grew up very proud of our Uncles Jim and Dick Rathmann and their racing legacy, including wins at the Indy 500, NASCAR, Race of Two Worlds, and he still holds the record at Daytona Speedway for an Indy car. My dad was all set to race a champ car in the early 60's when he flipped his sprint car and got hurt. Mom played her card, "I don't want to be a young widow with two kids!" and that ended my dad's run to the roadsters. I just emailed him links to your videos, as at 83 years old, he is a MASTER GAMER, and we have never seen this game! This might be the chance he's been waiting for...
I tried this at 100 and 90 aggresion and i have restarted about 30 times because i continually get hit and spun off before finishing half a lap. If i manage to get through 1st turn i barely turn wheel left and go into slide i cant get out of. How did u not get ran into at that high aggression? Maybe post your wheel settings. Im on a thrustmaster also. God bless.
It's 1960 INDY Roadsters throwback time that was the year before John Marcuson Jr made his Debut for Marcuson Racing Inc [His Dad's Team] and Benny Beckerman drove for that team aswell he won 10 championships for that team a few years later he got into the Hall of Fame John Marcuson made it and his son made it also his Daughter made it too Casey Marcuson retired at the age of 45 in 1980 John Marcuson Jr retired at the age of 50 in 1996 Benny Beckerman retired at the age of 41 in 1980 John Marcuson Sr retired at the age of 27 in 1947

Ai difficulty is terrible, 80 in qualifying and im 8-9 seconds off and in the race im 4-5 seconds ahead for my indycar season in career mode. So lots of trial and error to get it right. And for indy there are only 25 cars.
That's a really irritating bug that was in PCars 1 as well, it's because you're skipping to the end of qualifying. The game generates some AI times and normally they're a ridiculous amount faster than they can actually do.

By the early 50's all the Offy's were on alcohol. It was the rear engine cars that went to gasoline in the early 60's until the big crash in 64.

Great vid. There was was a big gap in my Indycar knowledge , so I really enjoyed the history lesson. Try it in VR though, it's jaw dropping.
There is an option in the settings to make the spotter "authentic" i.e. only on cars that should have a spotter.
You can just turn it off in the settings I assume

They started using two way radios as early as the 50's. Donald Davidson the IMS historian said someone used a 1 way radio as early as the 1920's

Most of the roadsters used alcohol. In 63 Ford was the one who went back to gasoline for fuel economy. Parnelli was burning alcohol.
Please do 24 hrs of Nurburgring....doesn't matter what car, I just love that race.
You can turn off the spotter or set to Authentic and they'll be available on a realistic level.
