      I was gonna say! Haha im THAT guy who has his 6505 plus going thru two 4x12's. One has Sheffields and other hs gt75. Nice blend although i think its a bit much. Also, green channel on 6505+ is Girth central. You ever try that or u mainly on the red?

      @@EricShreds I’ve actually been playing around NOT with the red channel lately. Even been fiddling with a DS1 and a SD1 together and getting a decent sound. Of course the SD1 on red sounds awesome, but something about having pedals to play around with now I’ve been experimenting and doing things I wouldn’t normally do in the past to see what is possible. Green channel with SD1 is good. The DS1 alone for metal is a no go, but add that SD1 and you can get some decent tones. Can’t wait to get more pedals to play with. Looking forward to the Metal Zone. This is all on the 6505+. I did buy a Spider V 112 used and it actually sounds good with the Fluff Big Chug setting. And got a little 20w version to play around with too. Scored all this and a few pedals from a local pawn shop. They have a Valvestate 100w there. Not in the best shape, but thinking about grabbing it sometime if I can get a good deal.

    As an engineer I’ve told bands to turn down with 5150 combos, and I ended up taking them out of the mains because it’s just too much, with the pa struggling to get the vocals audibly loud enough. So, louder isn’t always better.

    If you like a big bottom end than 100, it is not about playing louder, it's a different sound and also the percussive attack you get from 2x as much power. I just wished I was able to play it louder but I'm living in the suburbs with houses around me so they'd get annoyed pretty quick if I fully utilized the real power of 100 watts.

    Hi Eric Shreds i totally agree with this video and true 100 watts is only 3 decibels louder than 50 watts i have the Boss Katana 50, 100 and Artist 1×12 i also have a Marshall MX412BR straight 4×12 cab 240 watts RMS which is only 6 decibels louder than a 1×12

    I recently got a Hotone Ampero modeler and a Headrush FRFR speaker cab. I put a Digitech Drop tune pedal and a wah pedal in front of the Ampero and use the pedal on the Ampero as a volume pedal since the unit is so small that the pedal is too small and stiff to be used as a wah (especially with my size 15 feet). Since I've had it my EVH 5150 III 50 watt and 4x12 cabs have been collecting dust. If I ever get in a band again and play gigs this is going to be my rig. I know there's people out there who still say they suck compared to tube amps but the truth is I've seen too many bands use similar type modelers and they sound fine. Maybe there's a difference in a recording studio but on stage at a club there's definitely a difference in size and convenience. Oh and those yamahas are great practice amps. I got the thr10X. Even that has been collecting dust because the Ampero is so small and convenient.............

  • @AtTheSourceStudios
    @AtTheSourceStudios 4 года назад +3

    You can overtake drums with a 20watt head tbh. Even on a 1x12 but if you're unmicd with any amp you'll want a 2x12 for sonic spread.
    You don't need 50watts to get over drums. Please lol You also don't need "low end bass" because well you're not playing bass...

    I have a Hiwatt L100R, 100 Watt head going into a verticle 2x12 cab, and a Hiwatt custom 7, 7 watt 10 inch combo. The custom 7 has quite a bit of clean headroom for a low wattage amp. I have to crank the gain and master to get a good overdrive tone. Sounds EPIC but it's too damn loud!

    First I've ever heard of 100w having more bottom end chug. Not to be argumentative, but never in all my years have I played a 50w head that didn't have enough bottom end. Especially the 50 watt EVH 5150 III 6L6 head you have. I've owned several hundred watt heads and 50 watt heads, give me 50 Watts all day long. As you mentioned in your video, not enough noticeable difference in volume. Great vid!

    What about the amp heads that let you select the wattage? I have a 2x12"/16ohm 30w tube combo and as soon as my kid ghets on the 22"holychina and dbl kicks the guitfiddle goes MIA.... You say 50w is enough to hear with drums and bass, and ive seen 50w heads with adjustable wattage are those quite enough to play with ppl upstairs in bed AND do the power trio thing?
