I have made quite a few mistakes but fixed them. Maybe others can learn from my mistake. 1st mistake. When binding off the v neck, I just binded them off. since i am not making a newborn size, I guessed everything along the way. But like you said again & again, MUST COUNT & WRITE DOWN. I have probably knitted or crocheted as long as you have or even more. but over all these years I am still learning lots. So that one I made, it looked okay. Stitched together on the shoulders. Started the v-neck border. That's when the stitches started falling off the needles and I had to dig up 3 point ends. 2nd mistake. I picked up the stitches like you normally do. Finished the border. It quite didn't look as neat as yours. I had picked up 25 stitches on each side of the V. Not enough. When finished, I looked at the neck hole. Way too small for a 5-6 year old. So ended up, undoing all my work. I started the V bind off's Then made the armholes I think after knitting an inch. Used stitch markers to make sure I have same amount of stitches left for the shoulders. I picked up the stitches along the V-neck, they were still 25 stitches on one side, even though I have made the V hole a bit bigger. So to fix this, I got a small crochet hook, 3.25 mm, picked up 37 stitches loosely, loosely because they will be very tight when you move them on the needles needed. I still have made one more mistake, when binding off the stitches on the back. I noticed how you binded off a few more stitches almost at the top of the neck back. Thats what gave this a perfect shape. I have made 2 v-necks. The first one was too small, it would probably fit a 2 year old. I need to printoff the measurements that you have given in the description.
