Our 30 minute Catholic Mass today is broadcast from the Basilica’s Crypt Church and is celebrated by priests from the Archdiocese of Washington and the Diocese of Arlington, featuring sacred liturgical music with a Cantor & Organist from the Choir of The Basilica. The Christmas Mass and the Easter Mass are special one-hour broadcasts celebrated annually by the bishops of the Archdiocese of Washington and the Diocese of Arlington.
Our mission is to bring the blessings of Jesus Christ’s presence and love, through The Sunday TV Mass, to the sick and those unable to leave their homes. I look forward to this Mass every week. Thank you for having such fine people participating with their special gifts, people like Valencia Camp, Crossley Hawn and Andrew Vu! I knew Leo Nestor many years ago, and he was a wonderful gift to the Shrine. The beautiful Schudi organ played here went in while he was there, I think. So many inspiring liturgies at this church in my memory!

Why is this Sunday Mass celebrated on Friday?
Thank you for your question and participating in the Mass this week. The TV Mass is pre-recorded and uploaded on Fridays in order to enable time for our partnering Dioceses to distribute prior to the weekend.
