This is the most easy understanding golf teaching I’v ever seen . Thank you for your integrative and sincere clarification of how to swing effectively ! I enjoy your tape very much indeed !
This session speak to my game so accurately. When extending, I always lift that trail heel off the ground very early pump the pelvis and hips toward (hump) the ball. So frustrating and so difficult to eradicate. Will be working this into home drills. Thank you
Yeah I thought I was staying central in my backswing, but a few practice swings in the mirror showed me I had 1-2 inches hip movement away from target in my backswing. I’ve started to do my takeaway accompanied by that exact move you suggest with the hip going back, and it’s resulted in a lot more draws as opposed to just hitting it straight. Plenty to work on, great video!
Troy this is the very best description of hip depth. I totally get the ingraining of movement to provide a reliant muscle memory in order to apply this to your game. You have the ability to calmly breakdown a complex movement down and make it attainable for those of us that wish to improve our game. I believe other web coaches could/should learn from your learned approach. Thanks for the fantastic content very much appreciated 😊
These are all great tips. This is the most difficult thing to "fix." I have been working on it for a while. When I do everything "correct," it looks great, etc., but I feel like I lose a lot of power. If I extend just a little, I get all of my power back. I have a GC Quad at home, so I know my numbers. I have fairly high ball/club head speeds, but I think my early extending causes me to over draw the ball quite a bit at times.
Terrific presentation. You have helped me correct a major flaw I was doing on my backswing. I was coming out of my posture when hitting the driver and woods. I made that adjustment and hit most of my drives straight . Also had good contact with fairway woods in the grass. Wiilliam
I’ve struggled with early extensions most of my golf. Mine stems from poor hip rotation through impact because I used to slide my hips. I’ve used the chair drill quite a bit.
The early extension keeps creeping in, especially if I try to speed up the swing, so this is a great reminder! Question, maybe for another video? Finding my trail arm is slowing my swing substantially. If I let go of the club through impact with my trail hand, I end up with upwards of 15mph more chub head speed, and a good release that squares the face. The only way I seem to be able to do this with my trail hand staying on the club, is to try hard to tighten (narrow) the radius of my body turn through impact, which doesn’t feel as free, smooth or consistent as letting go of the club. Any ideas? :) Thanks for all the great advice that keeps increasing my enjoyment of the game!
Thanks Gregory, appreciate your kind words. Practice hitting shots with the trail hand (thumb) off the club and that will improve your centre contact. A more centred contact will result in a higher smash factor which in turn will get you more distance. I wouldn't like to see any tightening of any body parts during the golf swing. Give that a try and let me know how it goes. Cheers
Very good presentation. I am hitting a lot of fat shots. Hitting behind the ball and getting a lot of grass torn. I was thought to slide a little bit. I like your baby step approach so that’s what I will practice
Hi Troy Great content on your channel very clear to follow thank you. Regarding this move, the upper body moving of the ball in an attempt to turn then the lower body firing to early has caused this problem for me, what do you think of an arm down first feeling to add to your move.
@@Hittingitsolid I am still a bit confused on some of the timing of the downward swing. Should I be shifting(planting) my weight on my left foot at left or right are parallel before my right arm starts to swing across my body. Do I wait until that weight is on the left foot before start the arms swinging in front of my body? it should not be in the same timing.. weight shift and full downward at the same time.
Hey, thanks for your comment. Yes, this can happen. It will be either of two things. One will be your rotation stalls in the downswing. The other one is your trail wrist angle is not maintained and also the club is not shallow enough in the downswing. Keep some trail wrist extension as you sit down and rotate through the golf shot. Let me know how that goes and if that makes sense. Cheers
This and trail elbow position are by far my biggest issues. I’m making par on around half the holes but I always have 4-5 holes where I end up with a double or triple as a result of an absolute shank, predominantly with my shorter clubs. I’m assuming that the shorter shaft length means less space to start with and the effect of standing up is more pronounced?
I’ve watched my own swing on camera and I don’t early extended but it’s like I initially jump out of it by straightening lead leg straight away to initiate down swing
I like this drill to stop my head dipping on back swing by raising left heel. Yet when I push my butt back, my head still goes up in thru swing. What to do?
@@Hittingitsolid my butt doesn’t stay back and dip on right side like you do because I can’t turn my left hip behind on thru swing due to left back pain. That’s what I’m trying to avoid. So how to make the thru swing turn without going down on right side, so butt pushed back n going back up in thru swing
Thanks. Am working on it slow speed. But if normal speed, full swing WITH a ball. Back to old flying right elbow. Need to reprogram the brain! Thanks again

Thanks Dennis, yes that could definitely work in your case. That is something Tiger used to back in the day when his hips were firing early.
This will improve my game...as soon as I can train my body to follow these steps. Time to start practicing in the back yard.
