Hurricane Idalia to impact Bay Area Tuesday night

- FOX 13 Meteorologist Tony Sadiku is closely monitoring Hurricane Idalia as it moves toward Florida. He says the winds are stronger and the pressure is dropping, which means it will likely intensify to a category 2 storm and then reach category 3, close to category 4 status before making landfall in the Big Bend Area Wednesday morning. He encourages residents to be done with their hurricane preps by 7 p.m. on Tuesday because the Bay Area should begin feeling the effects of the storm Tuesday evening. He adds that Hurricane Idalia’s path has not changed and says even though he doesn’t expect us to get a direct hit from Hurricane Idalia, the Bay Area can expect a 4-7-foot storm surge with counties close to the Big Bend area seeing a storm surge of 10-12 feet.

i don't know who this weatherman is. I've never seen him in my life but he is AWESOME!! He articulates and explains it so well and frankly. He's not a drama king. I wish he worked in Jacksonville.

Night storm and full moon storm....absolute worst. Some people actually put on pajamas and go to bed, which I think is insane. Last night storm I experienced I had on jeans and steel toe boots watching the ceiling rock and rope tied to the door handle to the heavy armor keeping it from blowing out! If you have no other option but to stay, staying alert can save your life.
I like to sleep naked myself. And that’s what I’ll be doing.

I feel so bad for the Floridians who will be without power for days, weeks. I hate for the power to be out for just an hour.
Every Floridian needs to have a generator on standby. The $300 is worth the investment.

Only if you buy one that is loud and runs on gasoline. The most common run on gasoline, diesel or natural gas. There's also inverter generators which are much quieter. And solar generators as well. There's plenty of options out there for people who do lose power for more than a minute or two.
