    I have D700 , when I saw you going through the Z6 II menu it´s so familiar , that´s what I like about Nikon you don´t need spend months until you get use to the menu has other brands has.

    8:17 another awesome Nikon only feature is you can set the playback to only show images from the current (or specified) folder. This is such an underrated feature, when reviewing images on the back of the LCD we always never want to scroll into another folder from another shoot - it is always embarrassing to say the least. I wish ever other camera brand will adapt this file system.

    Active D Lighting set to high while in movie mode could open up the dark shadows with more detail and exposure in shadows, would be useful for video capture in bright sunny weather and maybe indoors in dim lighting. Kind of like Flat Picture file (although not as aggressive as that) and might save having to use that and N log setting. Thanks for a very useful tip.

    Thanks a lot Taylor for your honest review and explanation on the Z6II. I was in the proces of swapping my Canon 6D for a full frame mirrorless. I was in doubt which camera to get (A7III, Canon R6 or the Z6II). But just pre-ordered the Z6II after seeing some of your video's. Seems a solid camera and I like the fact that I start with a brand new body instead of one that is on the market for two years already. Can't wait to play with it. Thinking of starting with the 85mm 1.8 (as that was one of my favorite lenses on my 6D too) and add the 35mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.8 later on.

      I'm just starting to move from S5 -> Z6ii. From the moment I started to learn Z6ii I felt like home. S5 is a great one, but what it comes to stills, not too handy. One thing I found in S5 that seems to be missing with Z6ii is that with Z6ii I wouldn't like to leave image preview on in EVF. It has a nasty delay, which makes it about useless. S5 had an instant feedback in EVF. I enjoyed setting it showing image preview in EVF for just a second. It was great in studio work where you could see the expression (like eyes open) or other errors (reflection on glasses) immediately and without leaving the EVF. Even better, if you were shooting faster than 1 pic per second, the preview got faster, too.
      Other than that I'm really looking forward my journey with Nikon. It feels so good to have a camera again that is actually made for shooting stills.

  • @rolandrick

    Thanks for the setting hints 🙏5:30, that closed shutter blades are kinda urban legend they will protect your sensor. The shutter blades are the most fragile part of the camera, you may destroy them even by the touch of a feather and that may end in an expensive repair. Sony offers it as an option (!!!) to the 9M2, so you can decide yourself if you want the blades closed or open when powered off. My Leica M10 has it by default closed, you may not change it like on the 9M2 and guess what: it has more dust on the sensor like my Z6 and 9M2. I make a guess: it’s more important how the camera (brand) handles static electricity on the sensor. If that is avoided you are (almost) dust free also in dusty environment (common sense: of course this will not be like so in a desert sand storm, camera fully exposed to it and then changing the lens), if not, there is always dust on the sensor.

    I think most people question about this camera is the autofocus in low light. there is somone from china who tested the Canon R6 vs Z6ii and Z6. The z6ii at least held its own if not even better in some case, but it was daylight etc. I think this is more or less the less with perhaps backlight subject that people would certainly like to see. I think you would get a lot of views for that.

I shoot lacrosse games (not professionally), and when shooting one player - sometimes there's a lag in between when I shoot, and the camera turns off. Pressing the button turns it back on, but there's a bit of a delay, and I'm missing shots because of it.

    Man you have really got me thinking hard about the Z6II especially since I can pick up the Z mount 70-200 and 24-70 to go with it financially right now. My only concern is I primarily shoot sports, both photo and video. Do you think it can hold up for sports? The only other option I am considering is the R6 but the overheat warning has me leery of it. I currently shoot Sony, but I'm tired of the colors and now that I am ready to invest is a native 70-200 and 24-70, with rumors that Sony is updating those lenses, I don't want to buy the old ones, so seems like a good time to move to a new system.

      Same from B&H. I also pre-ordered right after the Oct. 14th announcement. Hoping it arrives by December 5th for an event I would like to shoot.

    You should set the option allow change without button hold. Easier to tap the ISO FN1/2 or other buttons and scroll with the dials than holding the button down and scrolling the dial at the same time

      I find them a bit too easy to accidentally hit, so I don’t mind them being hold to move

      @@TaylorJacksonPhoto Hmm yeah definitely agree with that for the FN buttons in fast pace shooting situations. I mainly had it setup that way for ISO and the front dial.

    Hi, how can you add the Full Frame to DX on the i Menu?

    The Nikon Z6II manual says the USB cable supplied in the box is not for charging. A specific AC adapter and USB charging cable is available for purchase from Nikon. So I’m hoping what you said is right and the manual is wrong. 😁🤞

    I think the resolution is 10.3, which is still .1 higher than my D200 I used to "professionally" in the 2000s

    Can you adjust kelvin directly on the view finder or lcd? Or to adjust the kelvin into the menu and go to the view finder or lcd to see the adjust?

    • @ThePhantomPhotographer

      If you customise your i menu to include white balance then you can adjust directly on the screen. Hope this helps

    Thank you for this! You skipped your video picture settings. I noticed it was on standard, is that your typical mode for video shooting?

    • @TaylorJacksonPhoto
      @TaylorJacksonPhoto  2 года назад +1

      Yep. Some of my cameras I modify standard to be a point or two less sharpness but overall I’m happy on standard

    Hi
    Would you recommend me moving from d850 to z6 2 for events and portrait shoots. I was wondering if z6 2s eyeAF will be good benifit over d850. Or should I continue with d850. Many times I feel some expressions are missed due to not so perfect focusing.

    • @amandalunt4325
      @amandalunt4325 2 года назад

      I enjoy my Z6iis for wedding much more than the D850 for the reasons you specify here. Just so much easier to get expressions.

    Thank you.

      Timed manual exposures out to 15 minutes (900 seconds) if you enable them at MENU > CUSTOM SETTING MENU (pencil icon> Shooting/display > d6 Extended shutter speeds (M) > ON

      I think he is just copying most of his Z6 settings over to the Z6 ii as the only major difference in the settings would be changing the dual slot settings

    Hmm I wonder if vignette control is altering the raw file as well. I've always set that to off to preserve whatever vignette the lens produces naturally.

      Did a quick check, apparently the RAW file isn't altered.

    Maybe I'm missing something but why is everyone programming Fn1 as subject tracking? Subject tracking only works in wide area AF and when in this mode the OK button is defaulted to subject tracking. Not sure if people know this or if I am missing something but it seems like you could be putting Fn1 to better use? Unless Fn1 is easier to use than the ok button? Someone please correct me if I am wrong

    Tip for setting the date/time: use Camera Control Pro 2 and sync each camera with your computer before you start a job with multiple cameras. :-)
