For people who want to improve or develop faster full strokes, the prestiges is the frame for you. Its underpowered and control oriented, the complete opposite of pure drives where you can get away with slaps and wristy strokes. In actuall matches it will not help you but as a player it will teach you how to move and swing more like an ATP especially if you weigh it up
Thanks for the comparison! I just rented the Radical Pro yesterday. It felt great from the baseline, but I found myself mishitting serves too often. I went back to my Gravity racquet, did much better.
Prestige is an old school racket similar to the Prestige from the early 90s which I grew up with. You have to put in a bit more power into your swing on the Prestige as it's low powered. I still love it though. I'm also trying the Prince 100P which is kind of similar - would be great to have a comparison!
I tried both of these. The feel is better on the Prestige MP. The feel is muted a bit too much on the radical pro. As a more modern style player who uses spin a lot, I still preferred the radical pro.
How about a comparison between an older vs newer version like Head IG Radical vs 2021 Head Radical MP - has tennis technology advanced the last 8-10 years?
I have the new Radical Pro. Strung it at 48lbs with tour bite. Very solid at net, precise frame, small sweet spot, very maneuverable, love it for one handed backhand and slices, accurate for placing serves. Very low powered and not a fan of the colour, but will take performance over looks any day of the week.
I have two YT Radical MPs that I haven't used in six or seven years. I think that they are very fine racquets but I prefer the Prestige. I'd say that the Radicals give you more free power while the Prestige gives you better feel. They are both go back many years.
I like to think of a prestige as a heavier radical almost. The radical has more power cause of the weight, but is still a very control oriented racquet
@@montyj3342 The Radical is a very flexible racquet as it comes so light in stock form. I think that it used to be really flexible with RA in the 56-59 back in the Microgel era. I have a pair of Berdych's TGT260.2s (16x19 YT Radical MP) and the swingweight is around 395. They are quite challenging to hit with until you get used to them. You can make them whatever you want to be by adding lead. It's not going to have the power of a super-stuff racquet like the Pure Drive.
Your groundstrokes are looking good, I wonder why would you switch from a heavy clay court game to a completely flat hitting game, it will definitely give you more margins if you apply more topspin into your shots. Just a recommended tip, nothing to be serious of. Great video as always!
I was so excited for the new radical pro (currently playing with the 2019 version), but was very disappointed. When I looked at the specs, it seemed like everything I wanted in the update, but it didn’t deliver. The biggest issue I had was the inability to generate easy spin and angles. While the feel of hitting the ball was improved, I felt that the feel when swinging the racquet was very clunky and not maneuverable. I felt like I needed to take full cuts at every ball, and couldn’t just roll balls in play. I’ll be switching to the Extreme Tour and adding some lead!
It’s funny because after I wrote this, I gave the 2021 Radical Pro another try and fell in love with it. Maybe I was having an off day my first test a few months ago. Neither of these racquets feel very crisp. They’re both very flexible. The Extreme is slightly more “crisp” than the radical.
Nice. I‘m going to give the radical a try. Loved the prestige mp feel, but looking for a bit more foregiveness/maneuverability/higher launch angle with similar feel from Head. :)
There's not much in it now between the 16/19 and 18/20 String patterns on this comparison, they are both pretty similar string patterns, the extra cross on the prestige is so low down near the throat it's like an extra rogue one, I think they are both 4 mains on the throat still too right? The old drill pattern like on the pro tour 2.0 is very close but not so much now.
Please do a 18*20 video Prestige vs blade vs babolat pure strike vs Technifibre TF40 vs Vcore Pro 97d vs Vcore percept 97 18*20 I am really confused now which one to buy.
you seem to get more depth of shot with the Prestige-using this racquet with lead at 3/9 and in the handle at 45lbs of tension with X1Biphase 18mm string.
Would live to see that too. Especially the Blade Pro 18x20 which is my current racket. I just bought the Prestige MPs and they feel quite a bit different. I still hit the blade better but the blade is harder to swing through the air w the 22mm beam. Which one will be a tennis game Improver and nicer to my arm?
Hey Jonas, big fan of your videos. Question: I'm looking at ditching my blade 18x20 v7 for a Prestige MP. I'm an all court player that strings my Blade at 48lbs Alu Power. Should I string my new Prestige MP with Alu Power at 48lbs as well, or drop lower?
Hey Mark, thanks! Sounds like a good tension! Let me know how you like the switch. If you want an even softer string bed, a multifilament or Luxilon Element in the mains and Alu in the crosses plays great!
Great video Jonas, how would you compare these 2 rackets with the Blade V7 18x20, unfortunately I can't test rackets in my city, but I really appreciate your opinion and point of view. keep making more content like this. Cheers
I’ve played with the prestige and blade and I’d go for the prestige everyday. It almost does what the blade 18x20 does just a bit better. Except you do have to put more into your shots but you get much more precision and feel. But it is personal opinion.
Thanks Jonas, very imformative as usual. How would you compare power and spin potential of the Pro vs TF40 305? If you’re taking suggestions on future comparisons how about Prestige MP vs TF40. Keep up the great work.👍
Thanks a lot, Jonas; informative and well made video. Currently using a CX200 Tour 16x19 and like it but it gives me elbow pain, and I'm considering one of these two to switch to. Which one would be your pick between these, and how do these compare to the G360+ Prestige Pro which I'm also considering? Again, thank you
Switched from a Wilson Blade 98 CV to a Head Radical Pro a few months ago and agree with everything you said in the video about the Radical. I was fairly happy with the Wilson Blade but the reason for the switch is that I was finding it very difficult to generate topspin with it. The Radical, from my experience, provides really good control as well as decent topspin. The slightly increased power was a nice bonus as well. Gives you a good balance between all 3 aspects I think. Any thoughts on a WIlson Blade vs Head Radical Pro raquet comparison video? Love your content btw, keep up the great work!
Hey Jonas -- I recently demoed the Radical Pro and have a demo lined up with the Prestige MP. Since you test so many racquets, I was wondering if you have any thoughts on whether Head racquets have poor quality control and unreliable specs? I've seen some reviews on retailer websites saying that because Head racquets (along with other major brands) are now made in China, the racquets are cheaply made and two MP frames might have very different swing weights and balance?
Hi Jonas I would really like to know, what your favourite racquet brands are. Do you still play with those old school frames or did you choose some modern player racquets as one of your daily drivers?
I don't understand why everyone is saying that prestige 18x20 generates less spin. I have babolat aero and prestige youtek ig mp 18x20, and I honestly can generate same amount of spin. Rpm blast in babolat and RIP 17g in prestige

@@K4R3N being a lighter stick, the speed mp cuts through the air easily but the prestige MP has more mass so you still get more bang for your buck with the prestige mp.
